I just listened to the chapter again, and what Pat says is that he suggests paying attention to what any of our engaged audience (Membership/Frequent commenters) is interested in, showing true interest in them, and making an effort to provide them what they individually need and want. Also, scrolling through their profile and talking about something they're interested in might be very appreciated, don't be shy to ask if there's anything else I can help you with.
