      Out of logic a light process OS should make everything more snappy rather than giving a performance uplift, but it would be nice to go more in depth about this argument. Maybe its is an IPC thing, so less processes leave more IPC space for things you are actually using.

    I've used versions of this tool in the past. Thanks for taking the time to upgrade it and keeping it working. Happy to hear about being able to remove defender. I made a windows 10 gaming machine that runs super smooth with that past video on making a custom iso and removing a lot of the components like windows defender. The tool is way easier but either way it's fun to be able to stick your hand into their os and rip out the garbage.

      I find this hilarious. The only way to be secure is to never connect your pc to any network connection. Anything beyond that is merely a false sense of security. It is constant battle of balance between how secure you want to feel over the freedom that you have (sounds kind of like what Benjamin Franklin was talking about when it comes to government and safety). Just look at how much Windows has grown in space and processes just so they can track everything you do selling access to that tracking to multiple companies (you would be surprised as to how many companies your base Windows computer sends information too constantly that is not Microsoft. And believe it or not, Android, Linux, and Apple also does this. But if a person is such a novice with Windows that they do not know what UAC is and what it does, then they should NOT be downloading or running any script from the internet regardless where it is from.

    If I take an average of the processes from a few days after using the script, then the improvement is not as good as the first measurement suggests. I don’t think I ever reached cutting in half yet, but I guess it varies a lot. A lot of people report a very big improvement.
    (If I understand correctly, this all comes from just the service tweaks part of the script?)

    • @farmeunit
      @farmeunit Год назад +3

      Most tweak tools never make that big of a difference unless your machine is really old or resource starved. I haven't used this so I can't say. Plus, as I get older, I have less time to put into tweaking. All my machines run fine and I have no issues with UAC, etc.. I just don't get it, but there is definitely a market for it.

    • @alanelston2330
      @alanelston2330 Год назад +2

      @@farmeunit Your point about the performance improvement seems to be echoed by many who have actually tested fully. But there are also claims of great performance improvements. I think I did once notice on a low spec machine a noticeable improvement in general performance using such as tool a coupe of years ago.
      This thing is definitely a RUclips success, and on balance I am very glad, because I have learnt so much from Chris. I encourage supporting him, but I am less keen on recommending the final product to people unless they know something about it: what it might or might not do.
      One other thing to note I guess, is that the utility, as its now called, has moved on to do things outside the classic Debloat/optimise/tweak area, hence Chris spent some time thinking about the title of it for his new version.
      Using the processes does not really reflect a true measure of the utility performance, but it fits a nice popular RUclips video, as does the title. (Chris has a better descriptive title for the video at his site where he calls it a utility update. That title at RUclips would not get so many hits.)

    kinda of off topic
    but the PC manager recently released by microsoft seems to do a great job at freeing up the memory
    i was wondering how it does that without basically closing anything and i am wondering if the same thing can be developed into some sort of automatic script to run in a time frame and if it does improve the performance?+

    As someone who is stuck on a Hell Inspiron i5 7300HQ and 1050, this is a godsend. I usually do this manually every time I play Skyrim with 250+mods to keep me sane(I can't use my hands and right arm properly at the mo). One thing I will add to the pool of to-do's, for those that don't FULLY understand the features/workings of the processes and services they might think they want to disable, you should have an overview panel show the benefits and downsides to disabling permanently...and also maybe a saved profile settings file you can load up for certain tasks?
    Keep up the great work bud and I'll be watching closely.

    Just a thought Re: the exe for the toolbox, if you don't WANT or don't see a NEED to update it, I'd look into taking the pool of purchases when you're done supporting it and maybe using it as a "credit" for moving forward for something like a Patreon sort of thing?
    I know that could be a weird clerical nightmare but food for thought. you're well within your right to stop supporting it either way.
    Again, thanks for all that you do, you've taught me a lot while injecting some humour and useful insight.

    Just did this on my 3 year old install of Windows 10/11. I recently just switched from Intel to AMD as well with a 7950x and while Windows is very snappy I still noticed I was using 10GB of RAM doing nothing and had 260+ processes running. I ran your tool, clicked Desktop and did all the tweaks recommended and it went to 230 processes running (I assume this is mainly because I have iCUE, Precision X1, and other things always running), and saved 3.5GB of RAM just sitting at the desktop. Huge improvement. I will say that BitDefender thought this was an attack on my system but I knew it wasn't haha. Thank you for this.

    How can I restore my browser installation? I use Edge and the tool does not restore the damage it has done. Things like autocomplete, suggestions and saved accounts are not just gone but no longer function, and when I try to change the browser settings, it tells me they are modified by my organization. Yet I don't see any changes in the Group Policy Editor, and registry changes don't seem to help either. Please provide a solution.
    Because I ran the tool multiple times (since I got errors the first couple times), I also don't have any usable restore point. Therefore I highly suggest making the restore point creation optional (or smart) so that actually useable restore points don't get overwritten.
    I cannot recommend this tool as it is. I also find it very aggressive, since the recommended option changes a few things I do not suggest most people follow through with. It also doesn't actually cut down on processes much; I think you just agreed to everything during your Windows install.

I am wondering if the steps in this video are in addition to the ones in your video called "Clean Up Windows 10 | 3 Steps For A Faster Computer", or if these steps basically do all of that by just running your program? I was ready to do all the steps from the other video but noticed it came out in 2019 and things change quickly so wasn't sure what you would recommend with both videos out there. Thank you again so much for taking the time to put this together, I really appreciate it!

    • @ChrisTitusTech

      Depends on the system. High end systems, not much difference, since they have more room to run. Low End systems will get a considerably bunp since it isn't starting about 50 services that are running with stock settings.
