Warehouse is supposed to do that, I was a driver for a P&D some loads had food, the forklift operator loading trucks is the one responsible for load securement. Driver should still check the load but the loader should be responsible for it, a driver doesn't have time for that BS could have taken the loader 2-3 mins to secure it. The loads were checked and tagged by terminal management when they were ready to be delivered, that meant BS like this didn't happen.

Knowing that maybe the driver has got to swerve to avoid something. Maybe they have to make a sharp and wide turn onto a tight road that day. It’s simple stuff that can get a badly built and wrapped pallet to give out.
Its challenging hands down.. but if you have goals to reach and you need the money sooner than later foodservice will help you get the money up sooner tyan later trust the process

Each truck is worth 25k-40k a delivery to sysco. They can afford to pay more actually they own the meat company that delivers the food in 7 different countries
I did foodservice driving in my early 20s. To do it again. I’d need $40/hr and a 40 hour cut-off. Both of those figures are non-negotiable. Matter of fact, 39 hours and 59 minutes. Non-negotiable.
It depends on the warehouse and the driver obviously along with whatever obstacles that have contributed to a load like that. The number one thing I don't understand is why they can't have a helper. These food companies make a lot of money which is why they are able to pay 100K salary. At the very least you could have a temp worker at minimum wage. These type of jobs you are basically a warehouse worker who also drives. They could help unload, spot, keep a lookout on the driver if he is falling asleep or something like that. I think they should train the helpers to have some knowledge of driving in case the driver has some type of medical emergency. the truth is these companies could do way more but you will always have someone wanting and needing money and willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Looks like you can make it easier if they gave you the tools. Probably could've rotated some stuff after each stop to stabilize your load. Place a bar or strap across the load. But physical labor @least 75k without OT being factor.
Food I think I need atleast a minimum of a 100k but really thinking closer to 110k plus. I do beverage and my area around detroit is good for pay and less work. I worked for coke and now 7up. Coke was more consistent 300-400 a day in 9 hour average days for myself 7up I've just started a couple weeks ago and already had days over 550 one day was only 8 hrs 1 was 10 and one was 11. Also had a 450 day in 9hr. But at the same time I had a bad route one day that had alot of driving and low cases and only made 310 in 10.5 hours
Coke was alright left because of being forced home like daily layoffs cause lack of work that went on for like 3 months so it was my time to go. But so far not bad 7up I lift alot less cases. Most days so far the majority of my routes have been dropping pallets like quite of bit of them if not most I had to.handle less then 250 cs. At coke man I would get 600-700 cs and would be lucky to see a drop for 100-200 of them cases. Plus at my facility it was $27 per drop at grocery stores if it was routed on small store route. At 7up I get the full cents per case made $200 at one stop a few already. (Took a hour or less)
That's why I refuse to do any of those food service jobs. Every driver complains about that raggity mess in the trailer and how wore out they are from sorting and lugging all that food. There's no touch frieght jobs that pay just as good. Keep looking

Sysco is a trash company and I cuss it everyday. The driver is basically a rolling warehouse worker, but working truckers hours. Do the math on that and it’s a very inhumane job. Percentage of the load is what drivers should receive, no less than 10% of gross! And health and dental insurance included, no co-pay bullsh!t.
That's the truth bro. If l you are 21-25 years old work here about 2-5 years save 100k. Then move around. If you are over 25+ I say 1-3 years save 100k move around.
