It depends on the warehouse and the driver obviously along with whatever obstacles that have contributed to a load like that. The number one thing I don't understand is why they can't have a helper. These food companies make a lot of money which is why they are able to pay 100K salary. At the very least you could have a temp worker at minimum wage. These type of jobs you are basically a warehouse worker who also drives. They could help unload, spot, keep a lookout on the driver if he is falling asleep or something like that. I think they should train the helpers to have some knowledge of driving in case the driver has some type of medical emergency. the truth is these companies could do way more but you will always have someone wanting and needing money and willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Sysco Portland 8-900 cases 16 stops. My first week out of training. Hard work haven't finished a route yet but getting hours and keeping a positive mindset.

Slow season right now, 48ft trl, 14 stops 928 cases, local with another driver getting full route pay maybe a 5.5hr route - McLane SLC

That's low pay for how much you work, I worked for Yellow like 12-14 hours a day and made about $400 a day but we didn't have to touch anything, we load with forklifts and unload with pallet jack with a lift gate, a lot of the time the sites we'd deliver to had forklifts that took it off so we could just wait in the truck. I'd need to net like $2k per week to work for sysco.

I did order picker for Sysco a few months, Hardest job i ever had. Not surprised the pallet fell, the way we were taught to just stack it on the pallet and let the driver figure it out🤷🏾‍♂️ Ocoee Fl location

I did foodservice driving in my early 20s. To do it again. I’d need $40/hr and a 40 hour cut-off. Both of those figures are non-negotiable. Matter of fact, 39 hours and 59 minutes. Non-negotiable.
