    Good video Brian. I tried tying such flies this year for white bass but had little luck. Unless the fly was 'jerked' the fly simply went straight with little to no action. Could you guys set up a large water tank (or swimming pool) and show the fly action in the water.

    As long as Blane doesn’t bash worms or egg patterns (which ironically are still natural) then I don’t see a problem with crossing whatever line lies between fly fisherman and spin guys.
    Great looking flies 👍 If they take as long to tie as they look though I may be a little leery to lose them on logs/branches in the pnw.

    When it comes right down to it, anyone who puts a hook on a string and puts that string on the end of a stick and puts it in some water is fishing. Fishing is fishing no matter how you wind that string or what kind of stick you use. What ever a person uses, how ever they use it it's still fishing and ain't that what it's all about. Great video, while some may say it isn't "fly fishing," it gave us people who use any thing, with any stick validity.

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  3 года назад

      Very......well.....stated. Brian always says: "We aren't saving babies, we aren't curing cancer, it's not politics and it's not religion. It's just fishing. Nothing important at all." Getting your knickers in a bunch over a lure someone else wants to fish is pretty silly. Thanks for being here and for chiming in.

    Not sure how I feel about the "flypaulas" cool to see done but not sure id ever fish them... But at the same time they would probably be very effective, especially on rivers that don't have gear thrown on them very often.

    Seems to me fly fishing is all about the ability to put something fish want to eat, where the fish expect to find it, and presented in the most natural way. Can't see why I should limit myself to bugs or not use a fly that is more adapted to the fish I am after.

    How did we go from delicate nymphs created from feathers on hook #18 or #20 to these huge plastic lures and still call it flies? Is this still fly fishing? I even see ppl putting living magots, bread crust, or corn on their hooks and using floats as bait indicators. Fly fishing?

      As Brian says here....we have never seen an official "Rule Book" on fly fishing. We are all free to do as we see fit. Whether or not we view it as "fly fishing" is irrelevant really. It's just fishing....and it's just fun. We aren't saving babies or curing cancer or anything. Thanks for sharing though.
