Lol!!! Those aren’t actual fire arms in the cardboard boxes…they’re paintball guns. Fire arms are super expensive, and NEVER on the shelf. They’re kept behind the counter. 😂🤣
That's what I thought too 😂 I mean, from the untrained eye I guess it looks like a real gun but I'm sure it would have the description on the box somewhere saying it's a paintball gun.
Those are mostly air rifles. They shoot BBs or Pellets. They arent real firearms. Most of the real firearms in the store are in glass cases or behind the counter. Occassionally they will have a rack of used rifles/shotguns on the floor in the firearms area.
I came here to say the same thing. 😆
I could see the real guns behind a counter along the back wall.
@@indiaandrews6996 I caught those too. It was in a panning shot.
So refreshing to hear someone from outside our country speak about us nicely and not derogatorily !
Did you happen to contact Shaun on Telegram? I did and there was something hinky about it.
I have lots of friends in Europe and they love visiting the US. Their concerns about the US is pretty much mine. They always speak positively about not only the US but how friendly and helpful we are.
If you want something truly refreshing take a cold shower
@@lauracook7608 That was not Shaun! Watch out for scammers pretending to be creators in RUclips comment sections.
Yeah, we the people are quite nice and polite. Anyone in our government are the sycophantic lunatics!
Good for you being able to leave with only one small bag of merch. That takes great discipline.
And also an already-depleted bank account 😅
How? How is that possible?
That’s because his wife was with him😂😂😂
Yes I could easily walk out with another rifle, if I wasn't careful....
I fell in love with Scotland when I was there and I am very glad you love my great state of Texas and our way of life.
Same. We made him an honorary San Antonian.
The guns in the boxes were probably air soft guns that shoot plastic pellets. The real guns would be behind the counter that you would have to ask an employee to let you look at one.
Louisiana has long been known as a Sportsman's Paradise. Its many bayous, swamps and coastal marshes provide excellent fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. So come on over and do some fishing.
I would love that
It's also one of the most corrupt and dangerous states in the country. You can have an awful lot of fun in LA, but if you do choose to go, especially to New Orleans, keep your wits about you as it's certainly not unheard of for tourists to be robbed or killed on Bourbon Street trying to have a good time...also don't be surprised if the Wildlife dudes take all your stuff and charge you with stuff that never happened, as has occurred many times before
@@johnhildenbrand2642 He has already been to New Orleans and had a great time. Also, I don't believe there are any fishing spots on Bourbon Street.
@@romaschild3 that depends on what kind of fish you are going for
Ok someone take him crawfishing….
That would make for excellent viewing! Tis the season…. FINALLY! I just eat them though so can’t help there 😂
Giving Teka puppy dog eyes, “I could buy another suitcase”. 😅
Hahahah
Well, now we all know what to gift to Shaun from the US for Christmas. Anything to do with fishing from Bass Pro Shop! 😀 Glad you had a great time, Shaun.👍❤
Oh yes indeed 😀😀😀
There is a gift registry for more specific gift giving. 😉
@@shaunvlog And they do mail order also Shaun. 😉👍
My mom went to Scotland to see about our Scottish heritage and fell in love with the country. She found our clan plaid and wore it proudly here. She has since passed, but I still wear her cape with pride. I love your videos, and think you and your wife make a very handsome couple.
I don't wear it, but I'm a MacKenzie.
Campbell here 🤙
I got a real kick watching you walk through Bass Pro Shop! Yes, the fish & animals are real. Here in Las Vegas, NV we even have a giraffe, which is huge! Hope you enjoyed the shopping experience!
Have a great BassPro shop in my home town in Louisiana its muti story with several resturants and a lagoon out front with lots of alligators
Even a restaurant inside? Amazing
Good thing you didn't go in that store alone. You might have maxed out your credit card. Thanks Shaun. Be safe.
Bass Pro is crazy huge. I go there for my camping supplies and winter weather gear. I used to fish a lot with my dad, but we got out of the habit and now I have other interests. Glad you had a good time shopping. Until the next video, keep safe and be well.
It's so big that you can camp in there lol 😆
The best known Bass Pro Shop in the US is in Memphis, TN inside of a full size pyramid! No joke!
I hadn't heard that but sounds cool. Although I thought the most well known was the one in Springfield, MO which is the main hub.
"This is where it gets dangerous....... for the bank account" - truer words have never been spoken. Awesome video!
The bass pro shop in Springfield Mo. is even nicer. That is where it all started. Cabelas is very nice as well. If you get the chance to visit one of their stores, I recommend it!
Bass pro in Springfield MO has a gun museum that is amazing!
@@lgreer2087 you are right, that collection is absolutely incredible!
I believe Cabela's has even more taxidermy on display.
And then there's the legendary BASS PYRAMID in Memphis.
I'm not sure if it still is, but the Cabelas in Dundee Michigan was the number one tourist attraction in the state!
Welcome to Katy Mills Mall y'all!
Yes, Teka, those are all real animals; white tailed deer and javelina pigs. The last are nasty buggers.
No, not javelina--those were wild pigs.
I am a US citizen and had never been to a Bass Pro til maybe two years ago. Not being a fisherman or hunter i have to say i LOVED the place anyway. I do hike so it does have a lot of hiking camping stuff. I could get lost in there myself too. Glad you enjoyed it, I love to see people from other countries enjoy our great country. Scotland is top of the list for places i want to see before i check out, I hope i will be able to, people there seem wonderful.
They have some seriously good deals on clothes, and camping and hiking stuff.
My husband and sons think that Bass Pro Shop is a vacation destination!! Once they are through the doors, it takes me all day to convince them we need to leave!! My dream is to take my husband to Scotland for fly fishing. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
The one in Memphis is. It has fish and alligator ponds.
@@jamesfowley4114 So is the one in Springfield, MO (close to Branson). That one has a gun museum, hunting hall of Fame, and a fishing museum and Aquarium/zoo.
If you love that one you should visit their HQ in MO that also offers truck - boat combinations and has two restaurants inside plus has a bass tracker dealer lot next door.
Damnnn I need to see this
They also have a gun museum in the Springfield MO location that has the guns from our history. Annie Oakley, Billy the kid, Theodore Roosevelt, etc. One time they had a special display that was Napoleon’s opal inlaid rifle. It was amazing
The one in Denver Colorado is also very large. 2 floors.
The one in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma has restuarant, and boats as well. It's aquarium is much larger than the one in Katy, Tx The one in Missouri is even bigger I believe, not sure.
The one in Memphis is great too. It's a giant glass pyramid and also has a "lake" with alligators in it. I believe it also has a motel in it.
I remember when Bass Pro was a small store in Springfield Missouri in the 1970's!! Yes I'm old! 😁
With the Brown Derby right next to their Taxidermy shop in that little run down shopping mall they were at the end of. That's way back when!
@@nunyabusiness9433 I went to school in Bolivar starting in 1974 and then lived in Springfield for several years. I still miss Springfield style cashew chicken! I can make it but it's not the same.
@@robinsmith5442 I took my kids on vacation to Yellowstone and had to warn them that the Chinese restaurant we stopped at on the way wouldn't be like at home. There's nothing like it, that's for sure. But it's catching on elsewhere! You can get "Springfield style" cashew chicken in St Louis, KC, Tulsa, and maybe more now in some Chinese places.
@@nunyabusiness9433 And not sure, they used to have it in St. Joe and Columbia. Can't beat the cheap hole in the wall place we went to on Glenstone. I even had some at another place in Springfield that wasn't anywhere near as good.
The absolute lust and longing in his face looking at the rods, I love it!
As a woman, I was raised to love fishing by my Dad, he and my Mom took us on camping trips for almost all of our family vacations. I loved fishing so much that I learned how to make fishing poles, using mostly Fenwick blanks and accessories, evening carving my own handles. I haven’t actually fished in several decades now, but have fond memories….and was fun watching you in a Bass Pro Shop, as I have never been in one.
So glad you are enjoying the fishing scene. Fishing is popular here as well👍
I’m Scottish but have been to the Bass Pro shop in Katy Mills many times. The first time I went there was a guy demonstrating fishing equipment on top of the fish tank.
So funny! It’s like watching a kid walk into his first toy store. God bless him!
You don't need to buy a new suitcase, it's easier to just get a few boxes and ship your stuff home. I've done that a couple times with some longer vacations or just getting larger stuff home or away rather than needing to transport everything myself.
Also, the guns in the boxes look like they're pellet or similar ones rather than the real guns that are behind the counter
You said it just right. That place is brutal on your bank account.
Also, the rifles in cardboard boxes are air rifles.
Ah... Romantic stroll through the sporting goods store. Great vid!
Indeed 😀
Had a truck just like that one, when I was a teenager. 3 on the tree, a stovebolt 6, & a starter pedal.
On my ranch in Canton Tx, shooting hogs is a daily chore. Big pain in the a**.
Like a kid in a candy store!
That is a fun store! It left an indelible impression on our grandson and me. (I will say it was a pleasure to be there and try to answer his many questions. ) It was delightful to see it through the child’s eye, also as in this case with someone like you who has not experienced Bass Pro yet.
Teka does not want to run into one of those hogs in the wild. From what I have been told they are really mean. But the meat is wonderful! Glad you got to go to a Bass Pro Shop. You could see how much you loved it by looking at your face. Hope ya'll are well and happy. Have a great week ahead and God bless!
They are mean and totally destructive! They will tear up your land in a heartbeat. Personally, when we kill a hog, we never take the meat. It’s very gamey and tough. We usually just ditch them and leave them for the coyotes! You can get helicopter hog hunts where people pay you to fly over their lane and just shoot the lousy things down! Welcome to TEXAS!! Be well and God bless… from Texas!
Wild boars are extremely dangerous, they are known to stalk humans.
I knew a Captain in the Army that decided to go bowhunt a pig on the ground...he ended up in the hospital with some pretty serious bleeding from the femoral artery after getting those cutters stuck in his legs...those things are good eating no doubt, but they are also one of the more dangerous critters to hunt
You should visit the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis, Tennessee. The company bought an entire arena shaped like a pyramid and turned it into one big store. There's a restaurant, a bowling alley, and hotel rooms in it. Plus, you can take an elevator to the top and see the whole city.
+1 The Memphis Bass Pro is an experience. I much prefer it to the one in Little Rock.
@@SigRho1429 I'm from Memphis, and it still chaps my ass that they sold the city's most iconic building to a corporation that perpetuates a Southern stereotype instead of maybe making it a space for the arts or history. But it's been years, and I have to admit that what they did with it is pretty cool.
@@tylerpaschall4363 Where I live in Arkansas, hunting and fishing aren’t stereotypes, they’re our way of life.
@@SigRho1429 I get that you feel that way, and it’s a legitimate lifestyle. It’s still a stereotype
They have a huge gun selection and decent prices as well. Some actually have shooting ranges inside but not sure post covid.
The Bass Pro headquarters in Springfield, MO is absolutely mental. The standard shops that you see are great, but visiting the headquarters at least once is a must. It literally has a river in it and a 2-story waterfall exhibit.
Cabellas sportwear, fishing gear, gun gear, etc. in Maine has statues of various wild fish and animals. If in Maine, check it out.
We got home from England and Scotland the first week of July and I LOVED THE ENTIRE TIME we were there!
Now go to a Cabela's store!
It's nice to see someone from another Country APPRECIATE our Country🙏.
Love to see his reaction to people carrying sidearms in the open.
My man. I always wanted to check out Bass Pro. I used to fish and range shoot a lot, but we don't have any Bass Pro shops within 150+ miles of here, so I usually stick to the local shops. I went cross country with my friend in 2007 though and went to a Cabela's (another hunting/fishing megastore) in Kansas City which was the size of a shopping mall. Never seen anything like it. Place had a restaurant and a small wildlife museum in it. I've still got ammo and tackle from that place. FISHING VIDEOS WHEN?
Cabelas and Bass Pro are now owned by the same corporation. Not sure which one bought out the other. Just a few miles from my house we have both. The restaurant is great. Bison burgers, the last time I went.
@@lollylollypop3626 No kidding? I had no idea they were owned by the same corporation. We've got a Cabela's nearby, but it's comparatively small. Usually just went to Dick's Sporting Goods just for the .303 British (as opposed to Canadian surplus) ammo for my Lee-Enfield as it was cheaper there. And yes! I had the bison burger there too the only time I went and it was actually really good. I try to limit my meat consumption sometimes because I'm a filthy hippie, but man that was good.
I liked how you posed in front of taxidermy hogs with a sign that said "REDHEAD." So perfect!
Since you're visiting PA, you should check out the Cabela's in Hamburg, PA. It's bigger than that Bass Pro Shop. BTW, just ship home anything that you can't fit into luggage.
That store is epic
I could see on your face that you were a bit overwhelmed by the store. I remember my first time. 30 years later, I still love that store.
Just so funny how you get used to such things. We have one about 6 miles from my apartment. It was a novelty when it opened 22 years ago, now it's just part of the landscape.
BPS is definitely an experience and destination. So much to see. Fun to find all of the animals in the vignettes.
I love the saying up front…. About hunters, fishers and other liars! It’s very true, I’m from Texas and we have plenty of all 3.
I love Bass Pro Shops even though I have only visited twice. I am a female who enjoys fishing.
I love that there’s a place in the middle of the Ontario, California store to sit down and have coffee and yummy fudge. The store is so big, I need a caffeine and sugar break!
That's actually quite small for a Bass Pro Shops location. That doesn't look much larger than a large Walmart. The Memphis Pyramid location is a half million square feet.
Next time you're able to come visit the US, try to get up to Michigan and fish the great lakes, I'm sure you could find a few people to join a charter with you. Lake Michigan for lake trout and lake Erie for walleye, bass and depending on the time of year perch. You'll have a great time!
Our local BPS is a one stop deal for everything we need for my daughter's girl scouts camping trips.
My husband loves bassPro too! He is a competitive bass fisherman (amongst other things), and loves how BassPro attracts more people to the sport.
One of my friends used to be the vet for one region of Bass Pro to take care of the fish in the tanks.
The best bass pro shop is in Springfield Missouri. It’s got everything in it. Plus a museum of all things American hunters/outdoorsmen would enjoy. And a huge aquarium.
So funny watching you be a big kid and her being mom
I love how each is different - yet similar - if that makes sense. The one in Memphis is The Pyramid and the suggested 'spend time' is 2-3 hours. There are a few eateries, a hotel, bowling alley a duck museum.. it's insane lol.
One of my absolute favorite places to shop,I have 3 of them within 3 hours of my home.
If you ever get up here to Missouri go to Springfield where the first Bass Pro and corporate headquarters are. I hear everything's bigger in Texas but that tiny shop you're in ain't nothing!
Next time you’re in the area check out the Bass Pro in downtown Memphis Tennessee. It’s inside of a pyramid building and has a small lake with real boats, an aquarium, glass elevator up to an observation deck with a glass floor, a bowling alley and restaurant. It’s pretty special.
Perhaps when you get back to Scotland, you could do a fishing video or three. When I was much younger,I remember reading of people from US going to Scotland to fish for Salmon and then playing a few rounds of golf. Maybe you could share what fish you have there and maybe how you cook them. Or do you catch and release?
Yes!
Perhaps, in the future, you can talk about what species of fish you catch in Scotland. For me, Bass Pro is equivalent to Disney World.
Good idea!
Better, no lines and no admission fee
I had to giggle. Yes, the dead animals are real. I wondered if you’d mention the guns but you can’t walk out with one. You have to have a license and background check. You are in Texas so they are available. So you know, Bass Pro owns Cabela’s and they are about the same. 🎉❤😅 great video.
As a foreign national on a tourist visa he'd have to have a state issued hunting license and fill out a 4473 answering yes to being a non-immigrant alien and have a specific exemption for coming to the USA specifically to hunt, in order to purchase a firearm.
That said, Shaun could easily find a fan who is perfectly willing to take him shooting for an afternoon and won't even charge him for the ammo. :D
@@ibosquez5238
Strict at what?
@@ibosquez5238
On guns? Hardly.
Almost any restrictions are federal.
@@ibosquez5238
Okay. You commented to Chris who was talking about purchasing guns. You must have gone off on some tangent.
Very few states require licensing to purchase a firearm. Texas is not one of those states.
I’m in Kansas City Missouri and we used to have relatives in Springfield MO. I remember visiting the original store in Springfield many years ago and being in awe of the place. I occasionally will visit one here in KC. They have some warm winter clothing.
I get overwhelmed in there and its brother Cabela's. So much good stuff, everything you need for outside.
❤ it! I’m glad you had a good time there. We have one here in St. Louis, MO but when I travel here in the States, I’m always fascinated by the same stores in other States just to see how they are laid out or different. I recently saw the Bass Pro in Dania Beach, FL. I was fascinated by the gigantic saltwater lures. Being landlocked where I am, I don’t get to see those types of lures that are 2 to 3 feet long. 😂. I could only imagine what one of those could catch. Ha!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have all this cool stuff .
Hooray Shaun, I've been waiting for you to visit one of these Bass Pro Shops. That one does not look nearly as good as the one we have here in Tacoma, Washington or the Cabela's (same company, nearly identical stores) we have in Lacey, Washington. I love going into the store and just spending a few hours looking at all of the new gear. The one in Tacoma has a bowling alley and restaurant. Also a large selection of boats. (That's why I actually go there) It is a marvelous place. My children still like to go there and they are young adults now. ♥
Ooh I need to come and visit your local one too… or maybe your all the Bass Pro in America 😀
@@shaunvlog Thanks for your reply Shaun. Hope you and your lovely wife are having a great weekend. ♥
The bass pro at the pyramid in mephis looks insane!
You should go to the Basspro headquarters in Springfield Missouri. That store will blow your mind!!!
100% in the plans
used to go partying in your country when i lived in newcastle for a little while, we would always go up to local Scottish bars to drink and hang out with the locals.
Some of the shops have a man made river running in front of the shop that you walk over a bridge to get in or out. It is stocked with fish and turtles.
I love Bass Pro. The one in Springfield Mo. Has a huge museum and animal display. It costs a little extra but took us hours to walk thru. You should try it if you go to Missouri
Don't contact via Telegram. It's a scam!
I know it's not Scotland but the last time I was in Newcastle, hubs, son and I visited Bagnall & Kirkwood on Grey St. (on the way to the Earl Grey monument.) They were very knowledgeable and answered the questions about hunting and fishing in UK that my guys had. Quaint store that was refreshing after living in the land of Bass Pro, Cabela's, Scheels etc.
I love Edinburgh, Scotland! One of my favorite cities in the world.
Bass Pro is indeed awesome. I’d love to visit Scotland 🏴👍🏻
It’s so nice hearing your excitement
Cabela's is similar to Bass Pro but some of them have a restaurant in them where you can try a lot of different burgers and so on ie Elk, Deer, Beefalo among others, my 7 year old daughter loves it (rare that we get to go). She is one of the most loving people i have ever met but one day we were walking and she said "daddy, i love animals" i thought uh oh but then she finished by saying "i like animals because they are made of meat and i love meat" lmao but she also says "only hunt the bad ones daddy" lol it will be a sad day when she realizes there aren't many bad animals out there aside from us and a select few. Hope you all had a great time!!
The taxidermy hog was a wild javelina. They are mean and fast.
spanish slang for pig meaning javelin in english. thank the conquistadors for those beasts invading and destroying farms from south america to tennessee
I go there once a month, even though I have all the fishing gear I could need for years to come. I still love window shopping. Plus they have plenty of other stuff too!
Now you have a bit of an insight as to why we are very conscious and vocal when it comes to gun issues. NOT every gun is a machine gun, as the media would like people to believe. The gun / hunting / outdoor hobby is very varied and multi faceted. More so then people are led to believe.
Glad you were able to visit it and enjoy it all.
Safe travels..
We (those who are against guns) aren't all whacks! Why exactly do you need an A/R 15? They were not made for hunting. I felt Shaun being uncomfortable around the guns. They aren't allowed in Scotland. According to John's Hopkins, there were 48,832 deaths by gun in 2021, which isn't counting accidental shootings and obviously unknown shootings in the USA because of the 2nd Amendment.
In Scotland there was a total of 41 for same time period. FOURTY-ONE!
Guns are not necessary!
Even as someone who is very interested in gun control as a topic, Bass Pro is very good about the way they conduct business. Honestly I think most liberal politicians don't see (or possibly ignore) the practical uses for guns, while most conservative politicians don't see (or possibly ignore) the problems with them.
@@Magnustopheles shall not be infringed. the gun grabbers are the ones pressing against the most dire reason to keep guns. tyranny. any "gun law" is infringement and not stopping anyone from getting a gun that "shouldnt" have one. only hindering law abiding citizens. we should be able to own rpgs and mortars. with the ability to modify guns in any way that suits us, without question.
I'm glad you had opportunity to come to America and enjoy yourself hurry back
So happy you are enjoying America because I totally enjoyed all my time I spent in the UK. Unfortunately did not make it to Scotland.
I’m from Springfield, MO. I’m glad you enjoyed Bass Pro. Ours has a museum that resembles the original store in town. Use to be in a liquor store! Other comments have mentioned what else the HQ has.
The Bass Pro in Clarksville IN has a steam running through the middle full of fish and turtles. They even put on fly fishing demos in it.
The big store is in Springfield Missouri. Well worth a visit.
Cabela's in Michigan is 4 times larger. Even has stuffed elephant, incredible place
Bass pro Springfield Missouri. The grandfather of the bass pro shops, or Memphis Tennessee. Pretty cool to visit
If you like fishing, there are plenty of places in the US where you can go charter fishing - these are small businesses that will take you out on a boat for the day. I’ve done it a couple of times from Gloucester, Massachusetts with a few friends. They took us 30 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean and we caught lots of pollock and cod (Gloucester is near Cape Cod, which got that name for obvious reasons), plus we saw a few whales while we were out there. I’d recommend giving it a try; you’d enjoy it.
The BassPro in Memphis is in a giant pyramid with an observation area that overlooks the Mississippi River as well as a hotel, restaurant, etc.
I took my 13 year old daughter to Bass Pro just to kill time during a soccer tournament and she was instantly in love. It was one of their newer, bigger stores. She chose to buy Bass Pro souvenirs instead of tournament ones. 🐟
We’ve got a Bass Pro Shop a couple miles away from where I live in Illinois. I’m a couple miles from Lake Michigan. Great place.
I live a couple miles from one. The pups and grandkids love to go there
You should visit the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis, not only do they have fish in the tank but in ponds with bridges on the showroom floor. Then there are the alligators in their own pond.
the "boxed guns" are air pellet guns (BBs and Airsoft [plastic BBs]). The Firearms are behind the counter, or otherwise locked in a case or by cables.
Oh, this most certainly can't hold a candle to either their Memphis TN store or their headquarters in Springfield, MO. The Springfield one you could spend the ENTIRE day in and possibly not see everything. It has a hunters hall of Fame, Wildlife aquarium and zoo, and (of course) all the options that they sell.
Shaun! You were just down the (high)way from me, if you are at the main Bass Pro in Springfield, MO! My DNA is mostly Scottish! No surprise as both sides of my family have direct relatives who emigrated to America. 😊❤
There are several stores even bigger than that one like springfield mo the one in Memphis tn looks like a steel pyramid have a wonderful holiday
Those "stuffed hogs" are called Javalinas here (ha vah leen ahs). They are big in person. I saw some once near my apt. They snort pretty loudly too.
There's one in Garland/Rockwall, Texas on a huge lake and they sell boats too with fishing stuff!
