A Tale of Two Dock Owners

- Jennie and I went fishing on a Bass Pro Tour off day while we were in Sturgeon Bay WI. We had different experiences with the dock owners at a small lake, to put it mildly. Some people just wake up in a bad mood I guess. We did our best to keep our composure and not react with words that wouldn’t show our best side. We are all created in God’s image and everyone is human. We just need to love our neighbor the way God does!

Ott is a class act. One of the only ones I watch anymore. Glad he's back healthy.

That is what I was thinking. Post the gps and let 40 boats show up and fish around his dock everyday for the next year. He'll either change his attitude or move.
All the fishing accolades aside, this is why I'm an Ott fan....not as an angler, but as a man....

I needed to watch that. It was an integrity check for myself. Made me feel guilty at same time taught me. I will always remember watching this in future because I’m the guy that would respond to homeowner in a negative way instead of handling as you did by just being respectful and moving on. Thank you for the humility check.

My thoughts exactly. Normally I’d tell this dude to meet me at the ramp and harass me and my lady on some dry land...almost always actually. Seeing this definitely made me feel almost ashamed for not being more passive. Ott is a hell of a dude

“We’ll come and sit in your front yard with some lawn furniture.” I get it - they are those property owners who think they own the water too. It burns them to see other anglers fishing “their” water. Can only imagine how many times they do this in a year. Ott, you guys did great to not allow them to ruin a great day on the water! Plus.....this clown is trying to insult a Bassmaster Classic champion. :)

Growing up in Florida getting run off by old timers was a daily thing. Wasn’t until I was about 16 that I realized I had more business being out there then they did

Such a shame that the dock owners didn’t recognize that two of Gods children were enjoying a day of fishing; could have even wish blessings upon them, before trolling towards another spot. Some ppl will completely miss the blessings God has given them because they want to take someone else’s joy to get it. Throughout my life, I was quick to retaliate against any disrespect, considering it a victory. I held a "No one is going to disrespect me" attitude until my wife taught me that my peace is far more valuable and that they're simply projecting their own struggles. I'm not completely there yet, but I've improved significantly. Witnessing it from a third-party perspective on RUclips for the first time was awesome! The response was exactly how I aspire to react.

I can almost guarantee you that they don’t live there and live in the city somewhere out of state,this is a summer rental or lake house and they bring there bad attitude with them they think the whole lake is for them to go pleasure boating and have no respect for sportsmen because fishing is bad to them

Everyone listen if you ever buy a lake house on a public body of water please realize before you do so that you do NOT own a single drop of water that is connected to the lake whether it’s under your dock or on your homemade ramp it doesn’t matter, if it’s water that is apart of that lake it is the public’s water aka fishermen and guess what even pleasure boaters can come and anchor down 10 yards from your dock if they choose to do so it’s not your water
That's why I respect you so much you knew what to do out of the respect of someone didn't have any clue that you could have roasted him me and many fisherman i know wishes we could just tell it to them like it really is with what u have contributed too for years what u do for a living he has no clue but you are humble man. I thought it was funny him saying that and not knowing the trophies you already have.
