I'm debt-free, so nobody is deferring my living costs during this coronavirus pandemic. I still have to pay insurance, maintenance, clothing, food, fuel, etc. My 401K and IRA ALREADY took a hit. One of my jobs is closed down right now, and it's future is now questionable. There may be layoffs later at my "essential" job too. At least we have our health.
At 21 I was living at home, made $11 an hour at the first job I took seriously, was going to school full time on loans at a university I couldn’t afford for a degree I wasn’t sure on yet. These kids have done a remarkable, respectable thing.

For those of you commenting on a $52k for a house. What is stopping you from moving? I grew up in Miami where housing is astronomical and the pay is just above Burger King drive thru attendant. You know what I did. I moved, I live in Costa Rica where my rent is $122/mo on about 1/4 acre and my house has a pool, that's filled with spring water. My monthly total cost of living is less than $400. But people rather talk about what a great area and house they live in and be up to their eye balls in debt than live debt-free in a paid for HOUSE. At the same time, the enlisted soldiers, at age 18, in my unit earned about $40 per month. I spent every penny I have earned during the two year service while those soldiers could save money and sent back home to support their family. I realize that it's not how much money you can make. it's how much money you can save.
Where looking at the next millionaires within ten years. That's impressive making a six figure income and paying off your house in your early twenties. They are one smart couple.
