    Excellent analysis of one of the truly great guitar composers! Leo Brouwer. Fandango is forever. But why? Why does fandango work so well for sooooo long? Thanks Jonathan.

      Thanks for the generous reaction. In this case, I think Brouwer is using the fandango rhythm deliberately in quotation marks, so to speak: it's not only the references to Beethoven, Soler, Pasquini, and Scriabin that make this a sonata of memories, but the use of old genres such as fandango, sonata, and toccata.
