Lovely collab! It’s always very interesting to learn more about editors. Self-publishing on a budget can be daunting so these advices sound great 😊 thanks girls

This is a really helpful video, I thought about Bethany's advice to use people in our lives, I want to proofread my books by language professors. Have a blessed day, Mandi!

Great video ladies! I agree with finding editors in the forums on goodreads and Facebook. I have been talking to a lot of people on both of those platforms.

Such a nice video and good information.
Sadly, for me this is a discouragement because 1,000 dollars is just a horribly huge amount. To give an example so you can understand why... The regular monthly payment for any regular 8 hs office job here is around 370 dollars. A month. So 1,000 is just sad to see.
I know you talked about lower prices and stuff too, which will be probably my saving grace, right along asking people in my life to help me, but I don't want to sacrifice quality either.
    😕

Bethany only paid about $300 for her book to be edited and she found her editor through a Goodreads forum. Just do you hunting and find someone looking to build their portfolio and I'm sure you can find a great deal :)

I just wanted to add UpWork to the list of places you ladies recommended. That's where I found my editor and I dont know where my book wouldve been, if it weren't for her. She has made my book so much more than it was before. With UpWork, you post the job and have a series of questions to ask people applying for the position. That really helped me pick the right person!

Oh! Very good point! I've never used Upwork, but I'm so happy to hear you had a great experiance with them!

Great advice! This makes me wish I had done things differently when publishing my first book over 4 years ago, but at the time I was a 15 year old who had no clue what she was doing. Strangely, I worry about money a lot, but when the time comes for me to publish again, I want to make sure I invest in something that’s worth it, and that I’m happy with.

Hey, publishing at 15 is a big feat! Be proud of that and just know any "mistakes" were just lessons :)

The 1000$ to 2000$ is that only one type of edit? Does that mean if you wanted a copy, line and developmental edit you are looking at 3000-6000$?
