Took my dad to this. It's a bit ramshackle watching back but we didn't care. We got him stoned and carried him home laughing all the way. He died this year, I'll always remember this fondly. Miss you mate.
I'm sure your dad would've loved every bit I just come across this video yesterday and absolutely love it never seen Neil Young like that ever he usually more calmer, am sure he's been tokin along with yous ✌
I was there- it was the first time I'd ever seen Neil Young play. He'd played "Rockin the Free World" to end the set, and I figured, nah, he's not coming back on, he won't top that. Then he walks back on and does this, and it was the best encore I've ever witnessed. "Brilliant" doesn't do it justice.
I was there and how can you stop 30,000 people from singing along.... Neil loved it, the atmosphere demanded it......... Rocking in the free world........fantastic.. this is what keeping music live is all about
McCartney is still good 45 years later. Neil Young is my hero. It's amazing the rapport the band has with the crowd in attendance. This was a real treat to me.
The sheer joy on both of their faces is amazing. Two legends performing a timeless piece with the energy of when it was written decades ago warms my soul.
Neil does not do too many covers, and this was a great choice. Few musicians can go thru the door to theotherworlds like Neil, and even fewer can take you with them. And Paul joining him looks like it was just plain fun for the audience, he looks like he had his head blown by Neil after they were done singing, too funny. God bless Neil, I hope he lives to be 110, and plays till the very end. Thanks for posting this !
Kudos to Paul (a genious) for recognizing another genious (Neil) is covering A Beatles song and showing up and joining the fun. Great upload. Thanks! ~cg5
A truly amazing piece of footage and a memorable moment of rock music history. Both McCartney and Young have contributed so much to the music of the world. What must it be like to look back on a body of work such as each of these men have produced and say, "Well, I did that."
Neil Young and Paul McCartney singing the greatest song ever. Two Legends. And may John Winston Lennon and George Harrison Rest in peace. "I read the news today,oh boy" ✌️
Alrighty, this is INSANE!! He practically rips the strings from his guitar playing this song with such passion. WOW!! LOVE Neil and LOVE Paul (et. John and George R.I.P) but truly an amazing performance!! I can only imagine the energy that would of been felt only rows away from the front! Magical!
You negative folks just don't get it..... This moment was more about their friendship than the performance and they shared it with all of us. Thank You Paul and Neil!
Neil lived in Santa Cruz, Ca when I lived in Santa Cruz. Nuf' said. Love Neil. He plays what I feel. Lve Paul. He plays what I feel. 2 greats from different lives.
Oh Man....I can't believe I'm just seeing this! Neil Young has always been one of my favorite singer/songwriters....and Paul McCartney....my ultra most fave!!!! I was singing along with this! HAhaha! Love it! Thanks for posting. :)
How can one person be so amazingly talented and still be an under-rated artist. If not now, one day Neil with be recognized as one of the greatest musical artist of all times. I'm glad that at his age he is still touring and performing. Some 40 years later still some of his greatest performances . wow!
Best rocksong ever kicked up and presented with the respect only a big musician and Beatles fan can do….it’s bloody awesome and have to be etched in every Rock’nRollers mind - it most certainly has in mine. Hallelujah !!!
At 3:38 Neil gives Paul a look of such acknowledgement, bewilderment and pride that absolutely flattens me -"listen to that!". These boys are the cream of the crop. They OWNED the 60's. Nothing can surpass what they achieved during those times, nothing.
Neil yay!!! My nurse that comes to my home saw his concert on you tube video I showed it to her she watched it she said oooh Neil I didn't know that you that wild👍😎👍👍👍👍😄
I love this Beatles classic, Neil does a fine job of presenting it, then Paul comes in and helps it along, Neil gives it a earthy slightly gritty feel, Paul sweetens it up, as good as this is The original is still my favorite but this is the next best.
If you play it and he comes, he's yours forever. But if you play it and he doesn't show, it was never meant to be. But either way, don't hurl...it never helps...
With his 3-4 chord songs Neil Young created a body of work like few others..I mean Cinnamon Girl is arguably the most hypnotic head bobbing 1-2 chord song of all time. Minimalism at its best! Oddly enough, saw a recent interview with Gilmour..who I love...and he said that he often devolved down to mood level slow pieces..like on Wish You Were Here...so that some folks wouldn't realize that he was rather a slower guitar player then people thought...not that it made a bit of difference in his brilliance just as it doesn't in Neil Young's.
Roger, Neil Young's guitar playing is similar to joe cockers singing style....it may not be on point like David gilmour, but the energy and heart he puts into it is what makes it spectacular...my favorite guitarists are David gilmour, bonnie raitt, mike mcready, Brian may, clapton, George harrison, Jeff beck, etc...they all are amazing, and Neil's energy and enthusiasm makes up for what ppl diss on his singing and his guitar playing. Also, his lyrics, his song writing leaves me in awe.
I wonder if the audience (or possibly Neil for that matter) knew Paul was going to do a walk-on. What a treat that would have been to have been there and Paul freaking McCartney walks out to sing the bridge in a Day in the Life!
They were like a couple of teenagers. Superb. I was there seeing Neil Young and then my other all time musical hero turned up I just couldn't believe it.
Great! Absolutely great! Not the performance itself...very sloppy, that. But just seeing these two greats singing together on one of the greatest songs of all time warms the heart and raises the spirits. Thank you for capturing the moment and sharing - - what RUclips is really all about!
Love the ending with the xylophone. A beautiful touch. Wish they would write a song together with the xylophone. Wish i had been there. I think it's great that McCartney is doing so many spontaneous things like this nowadays. Wonderful.
there I was thinking I could get through life without seeing a beatle in the flesh and on comes mccartney the wave of excitement through the crowd as people realised who it was was pretty special
I just think it's so cool to see McCartney loose, happy, and "fan-like" at a concert. Can't wait to see him and his great band - again - at Fenway next week. GOD BLESS PAUL McCARTNEY!
+Ackyman He was just completely in awe, didn't know what to do. I'll never forget this. The shift in the audience was tangible as Macca's stage invasion penetrated.
He didn't "trash" "that guitar". He just loosened the strings and removed them, and shook it a bit. . "That Guitar" is 'Old Black" -- his main guitar for the last 45 years -- he would never "trash" that guitar. Want to see someone "trash" a guitar? Try a video of the Who doing "My Generation".
This is wonderful -I have watched it five times in a row and I might just keep doing it - hooray for Neal Young he is wearing the flag of Aboriginal Australians - not something I was expecting to recognise. Great footage - thanks for sharing
so lucky to have been there, i'm only 20 so wasnt sure id get to see Neil, this show was unreal and if i never get to see him live again well at least i got this!
How low is your mind if you come here to tell that gilmour is Master of guitar while neil is a child with guitar,It is too idiotic if you don't like him don't watch. gilmore is great but there are far greater guitarist than he so hush and enjoy the music
Took my dad to this. It's a bit ramshackle watching back but we didn't care. We got him stoned and carried him home laughing all the way. He died this year, I'll always remember this fondly. Miss you mate.
Love it man its ok I do care for less only got my mom never have a dad wich I haved ...
Very sorry mate, music can make us all feel better.
I'm sure your dad would've loved every bit I just come across this video yesterday and absolutely love it never seen Neil Young like that ever he usually more calmer, am sure he's been tokin along with yous ✌
Memories to treasure for life
danieljamesmead loss is a terrible reality, thank god for music

What a presence Paul has... just watching you can almost feel the atmosphere change when everyone recognized him on stage... awesome.
A truly amazing piece of footage and a memorable moment of rock music history. Both McCartney and Young have contributed so much to the music of the world. What must it be like to look back on a body of work such as each of these men have produced and say, "Well, I did that."

Simply TWO genius Sir James Paul McCartney and Neil Young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic double!!!!!!!

This is my favourite song of the Beatles, and Neil Young is my favourite artist, so, this is REALLY GOOD.
Neil hasnt lost his sound thru-out the decades...great stuff....R.I.P.. John&George
2 great musicnas together = awesome!
I like how Paul just walks up and hugs Neil
Neil lived in Santa Cruz, Ca when I lived in Santa Cruz. Nuf' said. Love Neil. He plays what I feel. Lve Paul. He plays what I feel. 2 greats from different lives.
I read the coments today. People argue about this, but this made a happy smile on my face and I think that means something :)
Thought it was very cool
Man this is classic Rock, two legends like these together. If someone doesn't appreciate this they don't know what Rock is
Oh Man....I can't believe I'm just seeing this! Neil Young has always been one of my favorite singer/songwriters....and Paul McCartney....my ultra most fave!!!!
I was singing along with this! HAhaha! Love it!
Thanks for posting. :)
A great moment, two music legends together. Thanks Mr Towl for sharing this.
This is the greatest cover of this song I’ve ever heard. And Macca lets Neil make it his own and deconstruct it.
Great to see two of the greatest. That is RESPECT for each other!!!

And we could have get some shots also from the stage 🎥
2 big musician legendaries!
Best song ever... Happy birthday John Lennon we will love you forever :)
this gives me chills everytime i watch it at the point he starts singin.. amazing
Great performance!
If I sing A Day in the Life, will Paul come? Is this the secret to life?
I think Paul is too old to come, dear.
If you play it and he comes, he's yours forever. But if you play it and he doesn't show, it was never meant to be.
But either way, don't hurl...it never helps...
The greatest song ever created ✌️
Let's sing and see what happens
Yes.
The Incredible Neil Young surprised by Legendary (does that even do Justice??) Sir Paul McCartney! Both are treasures forever!
With his 3-4 chord songs Neil Young created a body of work like few others..I mean Cinnamon Girl is arguably the most hypnotic head bobbing 1-2 chord song of all time. Minimalism at its best!

I'm pretty sure I would have just dropped dead of happiness
This is amazing! Thank you so much
I'm so happy to be able to say that I WAS THERE!! This brings back an amazing memory!
Wow. it's so greatest show i've ever seen.
They were like a couple of teenagers. Superb.
I was there seeing Neil Young and then my other all time musical hero turned up I just couldn't believe it.
I love how Neil injects even more rock'n roll in the song.
its spooky how natural it feels listening to neil perform this song.
one of the best voices every, Neil one of the best , this so effing good oboy
The gig of a lifetime, thank you Neil & Paul to let me be part of it there, i can here me shouting

Oh my god... how did he break those first 3 strings?! Amazing.
His poor tech...
God, it's so great to see these two together; Simply magical moments!
las maravillas de youtube, dos monstruos juntos EXTRAORDINARIO
Oh my God. What an event. What a powerful performance and what a joy to witness this!
I love how genuine they both are. So drunk on being on stage together and enjoying it they just fall around the place. So unscripted.
it's precious
usually i dont like covers, cant listen to it, but this version. with this neil's amazing talent and voice, it's not less than incredible
like to see 2 of my legends together, thanks.
Fantastic song, great performers, and great bit of grunge at the end!
there I was thinking I could get through life without seeing a beatle in the flesh and on comes mccartney
the wave of excitement through the crowd as people realised who it was was pretty special
The soundscape The Beatles and George Marftin meticulously crafted and honed in many studio sessions is put on stage live by Neil Young & his band.
I'm going to have weird dreams tonight because of this.
I know, right?
What a great song, what a great performance.
thats two crazy old men
and i love them
thanks for share !
Puta que do caralho!!! Dois grandes ídolos meus, fazendo o que sempre fizeram: boa música e nos trazendo felicidade!!!
a wonderful creative musician with many different styles all very good thank you Mr. Young !
It would sound so much better if the audience would stay quiet and let Neil Young sing.
+evilwarlockofchaos But what's an audience without noise?
Will Stocks I want to hear Neil Young singing, not the audience.
+evilwarlockofchaos Then you don't know Neil Young too well, he likes an audience who is engaged, and participates, and they know it too.
evilwarlockofchaos who goes to a gig and does t sing along?
haha....unlikely with Neil and Paul on stage. That's rocka nd roll baby :)
Two legends.
Nothing more to add.
Happy Birthday Sir Paul:)))
Having a blast theses two, to the last note!!! So is the band and Peggy!
hermosa version
Te quiebra.
Double Fantasy, baby!
I just think it's so cool to see McCartney loose, happy, and "fan-like" at a concert.
Can't wait to see him and his great band - again - at Fenway next week.
GOD BLESS PAUL McCARTNEY!
oh my God mind blowing wow magical moment in rock and roll
Had never seen this before but what a great performance, wish I had been there.
l appears to be lost when he has no instrument to use. His hands and arms keep moving.
+Stephen Springer Thinking the same same thing. Give him a tambourine or something.
Yup, happens to him every time in these situations. Just one of his quirks.
Thanx for this ! To see Paul that high fills me with joy. Can't stop laughing ! Beautiful
Neil Young is gonna make Paul McCartney famous.
John Lennon is making the both famous lol.......seriously, great vídeo....i mean, the registering
can't believe all the negative comments...two fantastic artists playing one of my fave rave tunes...thanx man....
Doesn't sound right without Ringo's tom fills.
davitofarito shut up or go home
Martha Ortiz He's right though
So you shoudve played them then?
Awesome, wish I was there. What a set list and what an encore. NY just gets better and better.

Paul’s so drunk😂😂
I was standing right next to the guy who filmed this. Seriously, what a concert!! We all went crazy when paul came on.
Good job Neil for putting that trashed guitar back in the stand so carefully.

Haha Paul looks like he's been drinking a few :) like when he runs his hands all over n through his hair jumping around lol.
Pretty cool though!
so lucky to have been there, i'm only 20 so wasnt sure id get to see Neil, this show was unreal and if i never get to see him live again well at least i got this!
Too bad Neil Young never met up with David Gilmour , who could have taught him how to actually play that guitar
Bad comparison both are great
while neil strums his guitar, Gilmour has mastered that stringed instrument.
How low is your mind if you come here to tell that gilmour is Master of guitar while neil is a child with guitar,It is too idiotic if you don't like him don't watch. gilmore is great but there are far greater guitarist than he so hush and enjoy the music
***** Neil has an awesome own sound to play his guitar
Groucho Zappa Huh?
Neil Young is simply the best there is... Thank you Neil !
SECURITY!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a surprise; Neil's guitar strings broke. Damn. There's only a few who are that intense and play accordingly... Buddy Guy comes to mind.
omg. this is fantastic. pauly boy is looped! love it. good to see him having some fun!
ooow, that s great. 2 great musician at the same stage with a great song.
Y'know, people like to say 'wow, this is the coolest music video ever' - well in THIS case they'd be right, this IS the coolest music video ever. :)
