This video is probably my favorite that I made on this channel! I enjoyed making this one and I just loved going back and reliving this feud once again. What did you think of Jeff Hardy's feud with CM Punk?
One thing I remember about the feud was cm punk beatdown on jeff elbowing so fast it really look like he was trying to hurt him for real but that shows how good cm punk is 🤘
Jeff Hardy and CM Punk was easily the best feud of the ENTIRE PG Era. Felt personal, the promos were fire, very capable wrestlers and both are charismatic wrestlers. It was a very good feud. One of the best. Great story too.
Not Jordy I could never watch Raw because we didn’t have cable until my sophomore year of high school. At that point though I stopped watching wrestling until around 2017ish. Been debating if I should start watching smackdown. I’ve been hearing good things about it, and I’m hoping NXT moves nights officially so I can watch it. Raw I hear sucks, but I feel like it probably isn’t bad, and it’s just “cool” to bash it.
@@billa107 ikr? Guess hardy wasn't what they were looking for at the time, to be fair he wasn't really a out spoken personality like the other wrestlers that got one
Jeff was so over in 09, Punk was straight edge, Jeff obviously lived his lifestyle, Jeff was a major babyface and Punk was a justifiable heel who actually got heat. What I’m trying to say here is that it was a perfect mix!
Their SummerSlam match was one of the best matches I had watched back then. Both men were talented and proved it to the world in that match. The rivalry was really good.
Jeff losing that Loser Leaves WWE match was one of the few times little 10-year-old me ever actively cried at professional wrestling. A couple things have gotten close and gotten me choked up, but nothing has compared to Jeff Hardy leaving WWE and the hero not coming out on top, because that really fucked me up back then. But nowadays, I can appreciate that as the cherry on top of what was fantastic storytelling, and I can appreciate both Hardy and Punk for their abilities to have told that story. EDIT: I actually need to update this comment, because uh... little did I know when I posted the above that the next time I cried at wrestling would be maybe six and a half months after the comment over, of all the damnedest things, a Women's Tag Team Title match that October.
@@justawarlord Best part about it...Punk wasn't even wrong. He spoke about the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse and how Jeff was flushing his life down the toilet because of his crazy rock star lifestyle...even if it made him out to be a preachy douche about it, he wasn't wrong.
@Daniel Exactly. I think what made him the villain here is that he was kind of a dick about it..being preachy and trying to force his way of life on Jeff and the fans.
I really liked the concept of CM Punk cashing in while he was a face. Jeff finally won the title and then lost it right away, which left fans in a weird position, as neither Hardy or Punk were in the wrong. It was a nice and unique storyline.
Eight/Nine year old me LOVED this feud. I was a Jeff fanboy and was salty when Punk ultimately won in the end in the cage. I don't watch WWE nowadays, but I have come to deeply respect both men for their contributions, styles, and matches that they gave to me over the years. In short, one of the greatest feuds of this era, and if Jeff stayed clean around this time and if they took it into 2011-2013, this would be one of the best ever.
Wonderful video about one of the great rivalries of the PG era! Loved Jeff during this period in his career, and it feels crazy seeing Punk back then before he evolved into the Best in the World from 2011-2013.
The thing is Punks character was arrogant about it. Imagine your at a party and someone walks up to you and tells you you cant do something you wouldn't like that
I took about a 3 year break from wrestling. This is the rivalry that brought me back to wrestling and made me a CM Punk fan. Thank you putting up this video.
One of the most underrated feuds of the PG era. This is actually my second favorite CM Punk rivalry, after CM Punks rivalry with John Cena. Also can u do reviews of WrestleMania 26 or 19? That would be incredible.
Always thought it was weird for Hardy, the drug addicted hot tempered rebel to be the face and CM Punk the straight edge role model being the heel. Kind of reminds me of the Jericho vs HBK feud in 2008. Still great nonetheless
It's sort of like Molly Holly being portrayed as a heel for wanting to be an actual wrestler instead of a talentless model only hired for her looks and having bikini contests instead of actual matches. That's what the majority of WWE's women were at the time.
I can't wait what you gotta say for Daniel Bryan vs The Authority from 2013 to 2015. From Vince telling Brayn to shave his beard to HHH turning heel and pedigrees Bryan and Randy's cash in. The whole B+ player. And entirety of this feud.
What was a classic rivalry this was. Punk and Hardy was polar opposites. Both men gave us a great storytelling and epic promos. Punk cemented himself to being SD's top heel. As a kid back then, this rivalry was awesome to watch.
Man. I have been following you since a few months now, that video is maybe not your best, but everyone can feel your passion about the subject. The 25min went by so fast. Keep it up
PG Era wasn’t too bad when they used their talent the right way I remember Jeff Hardy was the face of WWE from 08-09 in my opinion he was more over than Cena & HHH
1. One of my top 10 all-time favorite WWF/E feuds!! 2. Maybe cover Wrestlemania X7??? 3. To this day, Punk's heel run from 2009-2010 is my 3rd favorite Punk run. His first heel run actually is underrated (to me).
This was easily my favorite feuds of the wwe Pg era. This and Shawn Michaels feud with the undertaker. I was just a very little kid when this feud started. I despised everything about CM Punk. But as I grew older and I found out the differences between heel and baby faces of the company; it made me appreciate how well CM Punk played his role in this feud. I know that people say the PG era is terrible; but there were some good feuds in the era that are overlooked. This being one of them. And yes I did cry when Hardy lost that cage match and left. However, it was supposed to make you cry. And today Matt and Jeff are about to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame where they belong. CM Punk will return to WWE eventually; and everyone’s happy.
The kick out of the GTS after a grueling ladder match set that damn crowd on fire at Extreme Rules. Not only cause it was Hardy but because it was the first ever lockout of the GTS by a superstar.
This was the rivalry that got me back into wrestling. After Daniel Bryan had to relinquish the title post-Wrestlemania 30 was when it started to go downhill.

Thank you, for the video and that tremendous review. A hell of a feud and damn it... I remember this like the child I was at that year living those episodes of Smackdown
I have so much respect for these two being so full on with such personal issues for this fued. They were my two favourite guys and still are so to see them fight hurt but I was also so intreged. Punk has since said Jeff was one of the best and deserved much more than he achieved. It was rough as a 12 year old idolising them both but looking back, one of the best
Oh man, not only could he have used so much of Shawn's past for material, if they really wanted to up Punk's douche level, have him start acting like one of those Internet atheists; at the very least, stealing Cornette's line about mortals finding a higher power when no one on Earth wants anything to do with them anymore.
This feud definitely goes down on history as one of the most intense of all time. While CM Punk was right about Jeff’s vices, Punk’s holier-than-thou attitude rubbed me the wrong way and had me rooting for Jeff. (Some of the Punk fans were the most annoying part of the feud though. Calling Jeff a junkie constantly, as if they didn’t have vices of their own) But I’m glad Jeff and Punk seemed to bury the hatchet since then.
I find it funny how the biggest heat of CM Punk's career was when actually he was in the right as the heel vs Jeff Hardy and when he was doing his SES work telling the truth about the issues with drugs alcohol and cigarettes
I wish Edge and Cm Punk had a chance to create a rivalry because both of them are monsters on the promos and mic. Before Cm Punk, to me Edge was the original pipe bomb. When it came to being a cross line personal and business, Edge owned that. So yeah it would have been awesome
Hey quick idea man, I think you should do a series on Opposites Attract and showcase more wrestlers who had differences but great rivalries (Rock v Cena) (Bret v Michaels) (Cena v Punk) it would be dope!
Since this feud was prime time when I was growing up watching wwe and Jeff hardy was always my favorite as a kid this feud is one of my all time favs WWE needs to run it back in 2020
Punk had good intentions but he's just too much of a jerk to Jeff, hence why people boo'd him hard. No one likes a jerk, no matter how right you are. And ultimately, Punk was correct. Just that...he's so much of an asshole that we just can't cheer for him. Honestly this is one of those feuds that is just perfect from the start. Complete polar opposites, one is disciplined while other was a free spirited. One wanted to prove to the world that his lifestyle is what made him a champion while the other one just wants to wrestle and have fun. I just wish the feud lasted a bit longer, they were incredible.
I was so deeply invested into this rivalry. Jeff was and still is my favorite wrestler of all time and it hurt so much when he ended up losing that steel cage match. Literally every single time that had a big return, I always thought it was Jeff and waited literally like 4 years for him to come back before I just gave up on it
When he started doing the anti-authority Voice of the Voiceless gimmick? The thing about that is, I don't think that would work as well as the Cena rivalry; Cena worked in that feud because he was the face of the company, being forced against his will to play at heelish role in Punk's story. I don't know how you do that with Jeff Hardy without rehashing the Immortal storyline. Like the WWE management are so desperate to stop Punk that they bring in Jeff Hardy and give him everything he wants, they let him use that hideous championship belt and everything.
1st thank you for the Red Hot Underrated Fued. Here’s my Wrestlemania Choice, Wrestlemania 2000 ( Wrestlemania in the year of 2000 ) it had good matches and a Good Main event I want your captivating opinion on it.
I remember watching Smackdown on My Network TV back in '09. Jeff Hardy was my childhood hero. I remember hating CM Punk so much when he beat Jeff in a Steel Cage match, and then impersonating Jeff the week after. CM Punk was such a great heel.
Wrestlingspremier you should make a video on vengeance 2003. I remember you talking highly of that PPV how it was smackdown's best PPV in 2003 and I completely agree. It's so underrated please make a video on it.
Great feud, but it was sad to see Jeff go shortly after. Oh, and I would nominate Wrestlemania 24; it's just one of the best all-around Manias in my personal opinion. Wrestlemania 21, 23, or 26 wouldn't be bad either, though.
I go back to PPV matches a lot but the only SD! match I've ever rewatched multiple times is Hardy vs Morrison. At the time it made Hardy feel somewhat legit since we as fans were used to him getting the belt for a moment and instantly losing it. So an actual successful defense helped his reign and it made Morrison look like a star. Morrison did not look out of place in a title match even though it was a cold face vs face match with zero build. As good as the Punk/Hardy feud was, I think that title defense really helped everyone.
CM Punk was always in my top 3 favorites since about 2009. Always super charismatic, great at telling a story, and is a damn good wrestler. Never will forget when I was in attendance of TLC 2011 and watching CM Punk defend against The Miz and Alberto Del Rio. What a time to be alive.
I know this is unrelated so I'm apologizing ahead of time, but bro am I the only one that still thought Lio Rush had the cruiserweight title? And I forgot that HHH and Regal gave Garza a new title. Then it totally went over my head that Jordan won the title. Great vid btw!
CM Punk was never treated right and he was and is The Best In The World Jeff killed his own push with drug abuse and thats why he got let go because Jeff violated for the third time

I was so deeply invested into this rivalry. Jeff was and still is my favorite wrestler of all time and it hurt so much when he ended up losing that steel cage match. Literally every single time that had a big return, I always thought it was Jeff and waited literally like 4 years for him to come back before I just gave up on it
I had a deep hatred for cm punk because I thought he ended Jeff Hardy’s wwe career ironically punk would end up my favorite wrestler years later
My brother quit watching WWE over Jeff having to leave 💀💀💀
I wish we couldve seen 2011 Punk vs 2009 Harday.
“Hold on a minute playa…”
Wrestlingspremier you should make a video on vengeance 2003. I remember you talking highly of that PPV how it was smackdown's best PPV in 2003 and I completely agree. It's so underrated please make a video on it.
Great feud, but it was sad to see Jeff go shortly after. Oh, and I would nominate Wrestlemania 24; it's just one of the best all-around Manias in my personal opinion. Wrestlemania 21, 23, or 26 wouldn't be bad either, though.
My 2 favorites at the time
I go back to PPV matches a lot but the only SD! match I've ever rewatched multiple times is Hardy vs Morrison.
Damn, Punk was such an effective heel with the whole straight edge thing. Wasn't much of a fan though after 2012 during his long championship reign
30 bc everything that happens that night the streak ended and DB that mania was SO EPIC
Can you do a video on CM Punk last feuds?
Loved this feue probably my two favorite wrestlers all time
I know this is unrelated so I'm apologizing ahead of time, but bro am I the only one that still thought Lio Rush had the cruiserweight title? And I forgot that HHH and Regal gave Garza a new title. Then it totally went over my head that Jordan won the title. Great vid btw!
CM Punk was never treated right and he was and is The Best In The World
Jeff killed his own push with drug abuse and thats why he got let go because Jeff violated for the third time
Punk was never treated right? Hold this L. At least Hardy never complained about losing his push.
