INTERNET's GOOD! I'm hyped now because it won't cause me to deviate from my original plans. Month is gonna be filled with some good content including Rated RKO. Regarding this feud, I'm gonna continue the story with Del Rio next week in order to fill the gaps. I enjoyed making it and I hope you guys find some enjoyment in it aswell. What did you guys think of this feud?
To this day, I still think Punk and Cena were each other’s greatest rivals, and absolutely brought the best out of each other. They’re the Austin and Rock of their time. Opposites really do attract.
Punk and Cena got the first 5 star match of WWE in a long time. That’s how big their rivalry was. Orton and Edge as Cena’s opponent were awesome, but Punk was definitely a special opponent for Cena.
Tell Edge, Orton and anyone else to get in line behind Punk and shut the f up. Punk-Cena was the feud that defined the last decade. Easily Cena’s greatest rival. The magic they created is unmatched to this day. PERIOD.
Jeff Pryce just because you say it with attitude and the sass of 20 year old women doesn’t make it right. Cena two biggest fueds in his career are Randy Orton. and edge both of which set him up to be the face of the company. The cm punk feud was well done, and super good, but it was less than 6 months and punk was out the wwe a year and half later. It didn’t define shit for cena or his legacy other than give him 1 5 star match which eh already had gotten with facing michaels at wrestlemania. people just like the feud so they think it’s greater than it really was. The crux of that feud had the rock main event in the back ground of it lol. Like while fueding with cena we all knew the end game was the rock/. As a matter of fact when punk went on his streak of holding the title he fought cena one more time during that. Cena had 4 matches with orton during that span like go sit down somewhere lol.
Lol that’s mad disrespectful I wish a mf would call me the New York Yankees but seriously tho the real reason he punched him because John saw the truth in what punk said and he also disrespected his hometown and basically everything he stood for. Then again who wouldn’t punch cm punk in his smug ass mouth 😂
Absolutely. This should have been the main event of that Wrestlemania without question. Or at the very least, make it a Cena-Punk-Rock triple threat. Punk had earned that match, and instead he became the last guy to have to carry an aging Undertaker before Brock ended the streak. If they had just given Punk his due, he would have never left.
True that. That Raw match should've happened at Wrestlemania 29. Cena winning and ending Punk's title reign and finally beating him would've been satisfying
@rochitgurung9090 CM Punk did carry that match, Undertaker should've already retired by then. He didn't have what it took to have a 5 star match at that point.
It's crazy that it's been almost 10 years since their feud and the Summer of Punk as a whole. I was a long time Cena fan, but once I saw Punk during his ECW days, he quickly become one of my favorite wrestlers even to this day.
Five star match at Money in the bank best match of the decade in my opinion this match had everything that wrestling matches are missing nowadays I love this rivalry
I remembered people complaining that R-Truth should have beaten Cena at Capital Punishment that year but if that would have happened, the whole Cm Punk storyline wouldn't have worked at all.
I think they should’ve treated the Awesome Truth as credible threats to the world title instead of getting destroyed by Rock and Cena. That way Summer of Punk still happens but during Punks Title reign he has more threats to the title.
Controversial opinion: John Cena/CM Punk’s best match ever against each other was on an episode of RAW where I think the winner would face The Rock at WrestleMania for the WWE Championship Both have great chemistry with each other and CM Punk even hit a piledriver (which I think was banned at the time) which fit in well with his rebel character 😃😃😃
A lot have said that their match should have taken place at Wrestlemania that year after their performance. I personally would have preferred a triple threat match where Cena would win by pinning The Rock redeeming himself from the previous year.
I stopped watching wrestling from 2009-2013, watching WWE again I hated almost everything I saw at that time, but that match really made me remember why I grew up loving it so much in the first place
I was a 12 or 13 year old kid when this happened. Big Cena fan at the time from my childhood. Became a Punk fan during this feud and it opened my eyes not only to just be a fan of more than the “clean cut” faces, but also all types of wrestling, first through ROH, and then through all kinds of indie wrestling! This feud felt perfectly made for me, as I transitioned from being a young wholesome kid, into a still young, slightly edgier teenager.

The only thing that I am disappointed by is that they never headlined WrestleMania with this feud. The only time I remotely cared about Cena is when he was paired with Punk. They brought out the best in each other.

I’m pretty sure Punk responded to Miz the way he did because Mike continually trash talked Punk for 5+ years after he left. I guess that Backstage think was the final straw for Punk.
Plus Punk never really respected Miz. He administered as much back in 2011, he told Miz straight up that they were probably never going to get along. It’s that reality show thing, I think.
