  • This is a variation of the West Branch Caddis, a pattern originated by Eddie Reif here in my home state. Here in Maine, caddis is one of the most abundant insects you can find trout and salmon feeding on, and the section of the river the fly is named after is notorious for its abundant hatches. Whether you are fishing it here in Maine or anywhere you can find caddis, this is a great pattern to quickly fill a fly box with several color and size variations so you’ll be ready for whatever species of caddis you run into while out on the water.
Also, just wrapping up my guide season for the spring and will be getting back to regular videos. Hope everyone has had a productive spring out on the water!
    Best,
    Jesse Rochester

    Congratulations, a very clean-looking and well-tied fly!
Oh, by the way, in the mornings I brush out my hair to give me a nice, buggy look. 😂

Can you make a recommendation on a kit of tools to get started tying?

Loon offers a decent starting kit. It will be fine to get going, after that a better pair of Scissors would be my next purchase. These kits often don’t have the best pair but will work to get started
