We care so much for Bacalar. From the first time we visited, we felt like it was our responsibility to help inform others on how to preserve this wonderful place.
I love the good energy and vibes you always show in your videos. Happy belated birthday Maddie and I hope you, Jordan and Laska continue to enjoy our wonderful country
I have watched all your videos way back about 6 months into your travels. In this video the two of you look happier than ever before. I am glad that your are doing well and look forward to each weekly video. I have been a gong subscriber since I started. Previously subscribed to other videos, but yours is the only one left. Keep up the good work and God Bless. Oh, and Happy Birthday Maddie!
Hello from ACAPULCO, GUERRERO! 😄We've been curious and excited to visit this city for a long time and can't wait to show you the video(s) we're making here. Have you ever been to Acapulco?
I have not, but would like to go at some point. Hopefully the video will also have a few tips on what to do there given that Acapulco sadly has a reputation as a dangerous city.
If you are still going to be there Thursday, ask around about "Jueves de Pozolé". Up the mountain, in the city (which most tourists don't know exists), many restaurants prepare their own special version of Pozolé every Thursday, and some have floor shows, and serve Cantina style. With every round of drinks, they bring small plates of complimentary food. There used to be a large restaurant called Cazadores, up in the city, that will have many acts, singers, dancers, magicians, etc., and it will go on into the night. Basically, I always thought that it was Guerrero's way (it seems to be a statewide thing, btw) of kicking off the weekend, as not much business gets conducted on Fridays down there! Back in Mexico's heyday (before Cancun was invented), Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta were the only "glitzy" resort areas down there. I never really cared for PV, but vacationed twice a year in Acapulco, then I spent a lot of time there, when I was working in Mexico. Many celebs, such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis, John Wayne, etc. had pretty lavish homes overlooking the ocean. The one thing that is a must-do, of course, is going too El Mirador to watch the cliff divers. They only do it once a day, I think around one o'clock (ask before you go), so El Mirador is a good place for lunch, while watching the divers. On days when cruise ships are in, they usually have more divers, but the restaurant will be more crowded, so it's a trade-off. It's basic economics for the divers, because people go thru asking for tips for the divers. On busier days, there is more tip money, so you have more divers! Have mucho fun, and I'll look forward to seeing your Acapulco video(s)!
Yes, many times, back in the day when it was a hot tourist destination in the late 80s and 90s but I haven’t been there since. It probably has changed a lot.
Have fun tangerineys! Be sure to eat some pozole and have some chilate (its like a chocolate milkshake only made with pure cocoa authentic beverage of guerrero).
I wish Maddie a belated happy birthday. She is looking fantastic these days! I'm glad Jordan can relieve her from some of the driving. Thanks for the entertaining video.
Aww Laska did so good! And her fur poofing out around her vest, lol so cute. That looks like so much fun, I'd love to go kayaking with my doggo, especially in a place like that. And yay, Trish! I always love seeing her, she seems like fun! Such a good video, i love seeing you guys happy and it looks like you had a really nice time. Happy Birthday Maddie!
We were TOTALLY riding the struggle boat!!😂😂😂 Im so glad you got a shot of Sassy and Krystal too!!😍😍😍 Happy Birthday Maddie! We had a wonderful time!❤ Also thag bus is crazy Im so glad you guys went to check out the place we stopped in Xul-ha!! Laska did so good! Not to mention that amazing shot of the toucan!!!😉
Bacalar reminds me of a small Island where I am from (Vieques, Puerto Rico). Beautiful beaches make it a wonderful place to spend the day. The food you show us looks deliciuos. Thank you for sharing. Laska looks like she is also enjoying herself.🐠😎
not sure I will ever get to Bacalar, but your video made me feel like I am there. That restaurant near the end looked amazing. (Really your favorite in all of Mexico? Now that's high praise
Definitely one of your best videos . Awesome that Jordan gave that advise about the stromatolites. Maddie is right about the sidewalks in Mexico ( I am in Mexico City now and I have noticed that one street and sidewalks can be nicely paved and the next one is an obstacle course … I think that in the case of Mexico City it is partially due to the earthquakes that they had over the years ) Thank you guys for sharing all this infos and fun ;-)
Love your video...I share your joy with Bacalar! I visited this beautiful place in my backpacking travels from Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. Bacalar was by far, one of my favourite places and I explored the same little gems as you both did😉.
Feliz Cumpleaños, M! You two are my favorite couple traveling & sharing your stories from Mexico (& my only subscription) 😉 Thank you for another fabulous vid.
Bacalar is spectacular like you said. What a treat it was for Maddie and Laska definitely had fun too. Scared to enter the water at first but she enjoyed it. What a view this city has! Impressed. Thank you for being our eyes. I learned a lot about Mexico through you guys.
I can't wait! We are returning to Playa again in May and already have plans to visit Bacalar on my Birthday! It didn't work out on our last trip, so this trip I planned it for the first day. I have been wanting to go since your first video. Thanks for sharing and making my wait unbearable, LOL! Love you guys!
Great video! Fun times. Por tip from a fisherman: They make those UV shirts now with a hoodie. They are even better because they cover the back of the neck and head.
Y’all are just so fortunate to live your life as you do. I have to say I’m so jealous but you can bet in my next life I will be a traveler!! Jk. Happy for you and Happy late birthday 🍰!! 🥰
Awesome video - really enjoyed the extended length. SO great to get another look at Bacalar! Hope I get to visit some day before it gets too commercialized.
I was watching the video like 'I hope they made it to Nixtamal' because we were in Bacalar in December and that restaurant is AMAZING! We had my daughter's 18 birthday dinner there. Everything about the place is just unbelievable...can you believe we heard a fabulous live jazz band at the restaurant that night????! I know right??? We were like WHERE ARE WE! Then we ended the night playing Foosball in the back before walking back to our hotel. (btw-you missed out not getting the chocolate salmon or the tuna plate...so go back haha). I will totally go back to Bacalar for Nixtamal and Mr. Taco. Oh please tell me you went to Mr. Taco on this trip or the last one! Okay my last comments, Bacalar is pricey for hotels and airbnb, there just are not enough right now. But the fact that everything else is cheap makes up for the $70/night hotel. We paid more than that when we were there. I love the murals. Did you see the ones by the local cemetery in town? I love that the town is walkable...even if you have to walk in the street. I would definitely go back and I hope is stays small for some time before turning into another Tulum. Right now it is not a 'see and be seen' place and I love that. We met so many international travelers in Bacalar it was great! Most were backpackers or road tripping up from Belize. Last tips-I try to encourage people to do the sailing tour not motorized boats. (eco friendly) and there is nothing better than sailing the lagoon at sunset. It is one of our most memorable family vacation memories! recommend-Tours El Sebiche
Nixtamal is when they put the corn to soak overnight to make the corn tortillas, here in the USA is called Hominy and with hominy , you make pozole too, but you don’t grind it o our se, good to see you guys.
Thank you guys for pointing out that hole in the sidewalk. I was in Costa Rica 5 years ago and there was an even wider, deeper square hole in the sidewalk that I would walk on almost everyday. There was nothing around it to warn you. People need to be careful when walking in some parts of the world.
I will be in Mexico tomorrow, so looking forward to it. Start of in Mexico City for three days then stopping at towns on to the last destination, Playa. I will keep my eye out for you both and Laska. Love you guys! Feliz Crumpleanos to you Maddie.

Guys, for groceries in Bacalar you have to go to the Mercado. It’s still on the main side of town, but on the south end kinda by the secundaria. Kid of close to Nixtamal, which btw.....totally agree!!! Best restaurant in Bacalar FOR SURE and one of my favorite in Mexico. La playita and La piña are good too! Bummed bc looks like we just missed you guys. We were there the week before last. Oh and you HAVE to go to the pirates canal next time.

In the mojito you drank in Nixtamal, the straw is the stem that holds the leaves of the papaya tree. 100% orgánico. Cheers!
Thanks, we haven’t had anything like that before. I didn’t know that the branches of the papaya tree were hollow like that. Are you one of the owners of Nixtamal?
I really enjoy your great videos. What makes them so great is that you are yourselves ! keep it up. Top drawer entertainment!!
I remember your video from last year. It made me want to go there too and I remember you were planning your daily budget !!!
Love all the región I was there a yr ago in July 2019 can’t wait to go back with this Covid-19 we’re holding off this yr.
A bought a life-vest for my little Sheltie when I had a kayak, it's a necessity! She has a seatbelt harness too.
Did she look like the cutest thing on the planet? It's like cuteness overload seeing Laska in her little life vest 😍
Guys, you can't have more than one favorite place.
*Hey guys glad you like the place, still watching randomly your adventures keep safe*

Hi Maddie, I commented before on your BIL video. Because of you, I have an appt in 1 week to talk about explant. I've been sick for 20 years.
Anyway, my point was that you seem happier, more bubbly, and just kind of a new sparkle in your eyes. It seems like you feel so much better. It would be great to see a follow-up video that addresses all of your symptoms and what has changed.
I'm thrilled for you Maddie. Fingers crossed it will really help me as well.
One of your best videos
You two are the best! Thank You so much for your wonderful, informative ( and entertaining) Videos! Can't wait to go to Mexico ! I want to live there!
