Great video guys. For me its the welcoming people, fooooood, culture, beauty of the actual land, the diversity and so much more. I totally get you on the "borrowed culture". I am so attracted to culture that it makes me not like the US culture. Its so culture less. The history and uniqueness of Mexico is incredible!
One of my favorite things about Mexico is how much more vibrant everything is. Art, music, food, interactions with people...everything just seems to be done with so much passion.

Pinochet's Helicopter no ones killed me yet. I was held up at gun point in the US though. That same week some friends of mine in the US were in a grocery store where masked men robbed it with rifles. Never had an issue in Mexico. I’m there on average one or two days a week for the last 11 years or so.
I was eating tacos while a young guy played guitar on the street and sang American rock from the 90s. Then a family of hippies with dread locks start performing a super fast reggae type song. 5 little kids all with dreadlocks and super stylish clothes sang together and played bongos and other instruments. It was pretty awesome. I was just there thinking, this never happens in the US. The food is better too obviously.
Growing up in America ethnically Mexican I was always exposed to the idea that "Mexican" was synonymous with dirty, low quality, lazy, and poor. As a child, I can't say I was proud. Now as an adult living in Mexico for the past 12 years, I can say not only do I love Mexicans, I'm so proud to be one of them.
I understand how you feel. I was a white kid born and raised in San Diego and other Mexico boarder towns. I was surprised when meeting Mexican American kids who felt like you about their heritage. Many don’t even know how to speak Spanish because their parent didn’t teach them. But I always felt their love and devotion to their families and was always treated like families and here in Mexico I see and feel the same. So no surprise that I ended up here permanently. And I don’t fear the Mexicans government retaliation of us gringos for US insane and cruel treatment of immigrants. I was more afraid that the US would close the boarder to US citizens wanting to live here.

I recently went to Mexico for the first time and it was amazing! Really different from what we see in the news and the people are lovely. Thanks to your blogs we managed to get around Mexico City and not be fearful of the country.

The stigma of cartels and stuff...it's not like it isn't a problem but many places in Mexico are way safer than the US and cartel drug lords aren't waiting on every street corner to murder people in Mexico.

Arthur Dicrescento why would you think that? Actually I have quite the opposite; a fairly large family. My oldest brother is currently battling stage 4 kidney cancer, therefore I do go home and visit about 4 times a year. However I still have absolutely no desire to live in the US. It boils down to... cost of living. As long as I feel my family is safe and taken care of, what matters where we live.

Madd Knadd the last hurricane we had was Wilma in 2005 and before that Gilbert in ‘88 so not say we don’t have that problem...it’s just not as bad as say Florida. We do occasionally have a tropical storm blow through but that’s only Aug-Oct and lately (past year) I think maybe it rained 1 week and that was it. I think no matter where you live in the world you’re going to experience some sort of weather extreme...just a matter of whether you’re prepared in advance or not.
The food situation is the same in Canada...we believe that all of us have been one big scientific experiment over the last thirty years for the food industry.....People are experiencing issues like never seen before on a mass scale...in short we are being poisoned for profit!
I loved seeing that at Lola & Moya they are not using plastic straws. You guys have helped me greatly with my moving to Mexico. I bought a house in San Nicolas de Ibarra , Lake Chapala , and I am moving there next month. The information you have supplied in your videos has made this move even more exciting. Favorite aspects of Mexico ? People, food and climate. In that order.
I think one best reason for you two still living in Mexico is what see, how HAPPY you both are with each other, communicating and that the main reason I and my spouse will be moving to Mexico also for our retirement!!! SOON!!!
I sync up with so much of what you said about living in Mexico. The people are the number one reason. On a daily basis there are always unexpected encounters that warm your heart. I don't know why they're so accepting of us but they are....even when there's no financial incentive. I've never felt so safe in the past ten years as I do living here in Mexico...Merida to be precise. I did not feel safe in the U.S. because of random crime, mass shootings, and hateful outbursts that would happen when you least expected it.... a plumber one time, and insurance agent, a barber, etc. People are wrapped very tightly and ready to explode. I enjoy every day here and even when there are problems like the Tangerine's battery somehow things work out.
We mexicans are very accepting of ppl that come to Mexico. We can take you in as one of us right away. Also we tend to trust foreigners right away. So welcome to Mexico!!!
Absolutely love your videos! I watch them as soon as they're released. Have been to Mexico about 18 times, and thinking it's time to start staying for longer periods of time. You are absolutely spot on about how wonderful the Mexican people are...they are kind and very considerate. Food is amazing too. A great place to escape during the cold winter months.
Just came back from our first visit to Mexico 🇲🇽. Visited Mexico City for a week and was blown away by the amazing architecture, culture and history. The people were so kind and so proud of their heritage. Will definitely be visiting Mexico again soon! Maybe even retiring there soon 🥰. I am here for two things: Learn English and know about my own country. Thanks. Regarding comments that we treat "gringos" well for their dollars, it's not true. We have many Central Americans working in Mexico that send money to their countries and we treat them well, too. In Mexico we value hard and honest work.
I love this! We hear a lot about the Mexican emigration but not so much about the immigration ie Venezuelans, Cubans and even Americans immigrating to Mexico
Been 3 times in Mexico and several times in USA...We are a mix European family and in my experience. American culture is mainly about milking you as a tourist, some people are very friendly others really rude when you go to usa. We ve found the Mexican a lot more generous, approachable and easy going. They make you feel welcome and share their culture with pride and kindness...since our last trip usa/mexico there is no debate on where we cannot wait to go back to discover more...Mexico all the way🇲🇽 What an amazing country, beautiful people, astonishing culture, incredible landscapes and delicious food. Americans don’t have a culture or tradition in common because we are a nation of Immigrants. It is great to live in a country like Mexico, or, in my case, Ukraine, where the people have a common heritage, culture, language, and traditions. I found that as an American, I missed not having these in my country. On the other hand, if you are observant, you can learn from the traditions of immigrants in the US. The melting pot theory does not have to mean the dissipation of individual cultures and traditions. It can mean the preservation of those cultures as well.
Wow, that's a rare perspective. In an ideal society, diverse cultures keep their identity and strengthen it, thus inviting the strengthening of other cultures. Meanwhile, all cultures work together to create a fantastic country. The more individualistic each person and culture is, the more enlightened the society. Of course, what happens is that one culture decides it's the best and that the others are evil and have to be destroyed. If possible, a person could choose to live in a country that adheres as closely as possible to the ideal of mutual respect, enjoyment, and cooperation.
I agree. I love mexico because its 99 percent mexicans. If it was taken over by chinese and Saudis and Africans and koreans and Russians it wouldn't be fun. My hometown long island used to have a culture in the 1980s and 1990s. It was english speaking, everyone was born in america, everyone had only one country, and we all celebrated the same holidays. Now? It's like a combination of all countries, and the main language is now Spanish. Not mexican spanish but guatemalan and elnsalvadore spanish
Inna Tobys I lived in Ukraine from 2000 to 2015. I’ve since relocated back home and live in Florida. In Ukraine, I lived in Kyiv, where I edited the country’s English language newspaper and later worked in public relations and advertising. Even though I’ve been back to the states now for about three years, I still miss Ukraine. Not so much the winters, but otherwise I miss it.
I would not want my post to be misinterpreted - I am not anti-immigrant. Not at all. What I meant to communicate is that the United States is a country composed primarily of immigrants: Europeans, Africans, Hispanics, Asians - you name it, they have made a home here, as my ancestors did. I believe that America is better as a multicultural society. However, I also recognize that more homogenous societies, like Ukraine, Mexico and others, offer rich cultures that can be enjoyed and appreciated. To me, that’s the real purpose of travel.
I have also lived out of the USA (in Central America on a boat) since May, and I can agree with so many of the comparisons you have made, especially how freeing it is from the social and political rhetoric and the societal fear of what is happening there now. It does create a lightness to living to not be surrounded by it! Like you, I am traveling with my loyal pup, and that poses some challenges, but even the veterinary care is more reasonable outside the USA, and once you can break through the language barrier you see the care is just as good. If/when I return to the USA, I am considering a prompt return to Mexico with my Lola (border collie) and my Prius, so I love that you are giving me information on the mechanical highs and lows of what I can expect. Long story short: I always enjoy your videos and the honesty and realness in them. Keep up the outstanding work!
You are spot on. I am a Californian of Mexican parents. My mindset is completely American. The first time I went to Guadalajara I fell in love with Mexico. People in Mexico go out of their way to be respectful, kind and many other beautiful qualities.....

Totally with you on the topics at 19min, about the fear and loathing in the US. Also on the allergies! When I was in Mexico and told friends I had an allergy to fish, they looked baffled at the idea there was any food making someone ill. Loved Mexico, loved the people.
I feel humbled and honored to have you talk so sweet about us Mexicans. We currently live in California but after visiting last year my husband and I decided to save money and retire in Puerto Vallarta, you have no idea how anxious we are to get to that point! We have small kids at the moment or else we would move today!

There is a very big difference between the Americans that go to Mexico and the Mexicans that come to the US. Most Mexicans that come to America are looking for work so if you are an employer you would like that but as a laborer (which most Americans are) you see them as competition that keep wages low. In Mexico they see most Americans as tourists, you are not going to take their job you are bringing money into the country, It's a very different dynamic that gets a spotlight shined on it every time the economy is failing or there is high unemployment or when wages aren't keeping up with the cost of living.
US fear! When I mention Mexico to friends they parrot the violence THERE. I tell them it's safer there than it is in a US school! US food is toxic. You two are very wise for youngsters. I am 65 and seriously considering retiring outside of the United States. Perhaps you know a great mature single Mexican guy😉
My family came to the US from Mexico almost 20 years ago and my mom still tells me that once we came here was when we gained weight. She said even the chicken in Mexico taste better, she says the food is richer over there . There is definitely a lot happening with the produce here, I try to buy organic but its also expensive which is a huge problem.

I've only ever visited the resorts and cruise ports but I love going to Mexico. Everyone is so friendly and you can tell that the locals appreciate the tourists. Can't say the same about the states where everyone seems so resistant to tourists.
I fully agree with your observations. We purchased our place in Mexico since we love Mexico so very much and feel much more relaxed, healthy and free in Mexico.

Some much of this video resonate with my husband and I and we are excitedly planning our first trip to Mexico this coming September. Sadly, our daughter and her boyfriend declined to join us with her boyfriend saying “I’d like to keep my kidneys thank you very much”. I couldn’t get them to agree to watch any of yours or Kinetic Kennons or any other videos of expats living in Mexico so I didn’t argue that because I realized they had ideas about Mexico and there wasn’t going to be anything we could do to change their minds other than go and come back. But we are considering retirement in Mexico and will be visiting Puerto Morelos for at least a week. So looking forward to it and hopefully getting to meet you both. And Laska! Hahaha

I also like the 180 days visa free. Here''s a few others that have it: Panama, Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, Canada, UK, Bermuda, Mauritis, and St Lucia. Of course places like American Samoa, Guam, the Marshall Islands and the Northern Marina Islands have indefinite stays for US citizens. Interesting to look up!

@@TangerineTravels Mattie & Jordan, I grew up with a lot of exposure to the Mexican culture here in the U.S. And if I have learned anything from my friends here, it is that they truly value their family. All my friends of Mexican ancestry from yesterday to today always make me feel as though once I meet them I am part of their familia also. It doesn't matter where I go, my Mexican friends make me feel I am a part of them. I love this because I grew up in a dysfunctional family unit and didn't get to experience this except when I was visiting with my friends family's. I have been to a few places in Mexico and have also experienced what you have said to be true. What I hate about the U.S. is the fear that they try to instill in it's citizens about people of another color or socio-economic class. I just don't have that fear myself, and won't feed in to that frenzy they have going on right now. As always, I enjoy your channel and enjoy hearing about your adventures. Keep them coming. Adios

Fantastic video! Where do you get your limitless enthusiasm from... informative and very well presented. Lots of politics hidden in there, but as an outsider looking in, lots of people, companies and, yes, countries rely on America. Mexico seems like a panacea, like a few other distant European countries, but they all have their own sets of issues, whether it's trade deficits, health care, employment and so on. America is so large and diverse there will always be pockets of extremism, it even applies here in the UK (one of the reasons for Brexit). But so much comes out of America, technology, art, culture and manufacturing. I don't see this anywhere else, why? All I would say is vote with a pen and paper and not your feet and hope that Mexico stays the ideal holiday destination that it is. Well done again and I look forward to the next inspirational and thought provoking video!

As a peruvian married to a wonderful mexican, I got married to his Culture and love it as much as love him and my sons. Mexicans are very caring and family oriented so are my peruvian “compatriotas”. Unfortunately, there are different types of people and they can get very offended when someone doesn’t like our food. Traditional peruvian food is usually very different from the traditional mexican food. Like in Mexico, we have a great variety dependind of the regions (Provincias there). Just give it a chance next time and try other things. Peru has a lot of power source and enriched foods like quinoa, kiwicha, maca or camu-camu. Do a little reasearch before you go and won’t be disappointed.

You're right, the price is very affordable, the thing is I'm OCD and I don't like other people touching my clothes or not knowing what detergent they used. I rather pay the fee to use the machines and do it myself 😄😄
I'm so glad you guys make videos like this. I am a Mexican American and I have mainly traveled to northern Mexico but my father is from the south in Chiapas, and we really want to go visit as my father hasn't been there since he left when he was 18 to come to the U.S. I live in Finland now and my husband has gone to Mexico once. He didn't like that everyone stared at him (very tall, blonde, Scandinavian features etc.) Finns are very antisocial even with each other so all the attention he drew, even though people were nice, made him uncomfortable. I'm still hoping one day we could go with him to San Luis Potosi or somewhere where there is usually more tourists and maybe he will feel better and won't stick out as much lol.
One thing I will say, the people are great in Mexico and most of Central America where I have lived and visited. And yes, it is true, most of them have very little but will take you in and treat you like family. It is truly amazing how generous and friendly most of them are. And honestly not to give the wrong impression, I loved living in Chiapas. It was one of the best times of my life. I got to live in the rainforest which there is nothing like it on earth and quite honestly so beautiful and a cherished memory, and this was before the Zapatista rebellion, and also before crime and the drug trade started.

I agree with you about how people are different in their interactions with each other. I applaud that your health is much improved, Maddie. What would you say, after two years of living in Mexico is the reason for the food in the U.S. being so problematic to good health? I also agree with how you view the economy of the U.S. With all the extremely poor decisions being made at the top, the U.S. is becoming more of a developing country every day. So far, I have had nothing but very positive experiences with locals in Mexico. I can totally relate to the comments on friendly and welcoming locals. From taxi drivers, to tour operators to security and police, they have all been so amazing
I fell in love with Mexico years ago about 15 or so and I'm 60 now. I'd sell my house today if I could find or had a companion that would go with me. I'm a chicken to go it alone. And I know what you mean about America these days and I agree. Its sad to see. Fear and hate is no way to live
You will find a close ex-pat community where making friends is very easy and there are lots of single people to mix and mingle. Lots of single women have found a new love and are happy.

This may have been discussed before, but this is the first video I've seen of yours. How are you handling the water.? When I went to Cancun years ago, I knew not to drink the water. But at the hotel, I thought it would be safe as I could smell chlorine. All I did was brush my teeth in their water, and after about 3 days I came down with Montazuma's Revenge. Did you acclimate to it, or just avoid it.?

@@TRIPONTHIS As of November 2019 it's available in Cancun but not from the airport. But it's not available in Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, or anywhere else in the Mayan Riviera to the best of my knowledge.
@@TangerineTravels I live in cancun and didn't know that uber is starting up here. I won't buy a vehicle because of the many expenses you mentioned in the video and because transportation is so darn CHEAP. 30 pesos to practically anywhere i want to go in the downtown zones of the city. The city buses are only 9 pesos or 12 to the "hotel zone" , the BEACHES. BTW, you should highlight the fact that cancun has ZERO SEAWEED on it's beaches , absolutely beautiful. I'm watching this video and I understand the many reasons why you relocated to Mexico, but at the same time I have to point out the USA has a deep culture, traditions and attire and dances - if you both had only bothered to visit the Native American reservations in AZ and the 4 Corners area. Its clear that neither of you really bothered exploring what AZ and the 4 Corners region had to offer in terms of food/culture/traditions/dances/folklore. Over the last 10 years, I have attended many pow wows and visited as many Native American reservations and have really come to appreciate what they offer to us and how they can enrich the fabric of our lives. Granted the food is no where near as diverse as found in the many states of Mexico. But I do agree with you that too many USA residents make their decisions based on fear and willful ignorance.
Also can you talk about how in the USA there it’s like a constant advertisement - driving around and there’s tens of thousands of fast food, clothing, - it’s bombarding... it makes people consuming zombies.. does that happen in Mexico?
George Washingbeard it’s happening more and more. Specially in big cities you get the avenues full of billboards it’s stupid, but it’s really easy to escape it. But I think it will never be as bad as the US. As much as we love to “Americanise” everything, the Mexican prevails, we love fast food, and there’s a culture of people loving American chains, but everyone from the poorest guy to the poshest one, will have a favorite taco stand. We may go grocery shopping to Walmart or HEB or whatever, but we know to go the markets for really good stuff, people take pride in knowing small business that carry cheaper and better produce or meats. And the fact that society is very family/tribe oriented keeps us from going full mindless consumer. I think retail therapy is a thing and a lot of people use it as a coping mechanism, but I guess the fact we are not that isolated and never really fully leave the nest prevents a lot of people to fall for it. Of course we have other huge issues, but in general I thing that our culture is based in really strong support systems, and that’s something that sometimes American culture lacks. You want to be independent not lonely. You want to have your own space, not completely isolated. You want to be your own person and find yourself, but you don’t need the trauma of being kicked out of your home at 18 without really knowing what to do and without someone having your back. I think in Mexico we could use more hustle culture instead of just mindlessly working our entire lives for other people, and I would love to have more of a entrepreneurial mindset, we are used to think safe and reliable. And Americans could benefit from closer relationships, looking out for the other instead of just for oneself.

I moved from India to USA, and it is heaven here. Not trapped in India is a big deal. The same for Mexico or any third world country. I think you should learn to love and respect USA because it gave you so much and you enjoy the exalted level when you travel just because you are American. Stop complaining about USA would be a good start. BTW I love your videos, you guys are doing a great job.

I am so attracted to culture that it makes me not like the US culture. Its so culture less. The history and uniqueness of Mexico is incredible!

Pinochet's Helicopter no ones killed me yet. I was held up at gun point in the US though. That same week some friends of mine in the US were in a grocery store where masked men robbed it with rifles. Never had an issue in Mexico. I’m there on average one or two days a week for the last 11 years or so.
I was eating tacos while a young guy played guitar on the street and sang American rock from the 90s. Then a family of hippies with dread locks start performing a super fast reggae type song. 5 little kids all with dreadlocks and super stylish clothes sang together and played bongos and other instruments. It was pretty awesome. I was just there thinking, this never happens in the US. The food is better too obviously.

Growing up in America ethnically Mexican I was always exposed to the idea that "Mexican" was synonymous with dirty, low quality, lazy, and poor. As a child, I can't say I was proud. Now as an adult living in Mexico for the past 12 years, I can say not only do I love Mexicans, I'm so proud to be one of them.
I understand how you feel. I was a white kid born and raised in San Diego and other Mexico boarder towns. I was surprised when meeting Mexican American kids who felt like you about their heritage. Many don’t even know how to speak Spanish because their parent didn’t teach them. But I always felt their love and devotion to their families and was always treated like families and here in Mexico I see and feel the same. So no surprise that I ended up here permanently. And I don’t fear the Mexicans government retaliation of us gringos for US insane and cruel treatment of immigrants. I was more afraid that the US would close the boarder to US citizens wanting to live here.

The stigma of cartels and stuff...it's not like it isn't a problem but many places in Mexico are way safer than the US and cartel drug lords aren't waiting on every street corner to murder people in Mexico.

My oldest brother is currently battling stage 4 kidney cancer, therefore I do go home and visit about 4 times a year. However I still have absolutely no desire to live in the US. It boils down to... cost of living. As long as I feel my family is safe and taken care of, what matters where we live.

Madd Knadd the last hurricane we had was Wilma in 2005 and before that Gilbert in ‘88 so not say we don’t have that problem...it’s just not as bad as say Florida. We do occasionally have a tropical storm blow through but that’s only Aug-Oct and lately (past year) I think maybe it rained 1 week and that was it. I think no matter where you live in the world you’re going to experience some sort of weather extreme...just a matter of whether you’re prepared in advance or not.
The food situation is the same in Canada...we believe that all of us have been one big scientific experiment over the last thirty years for the food industry.....People are experiencing issues like never seen before on a mass scale...in short we are being poisoned for profit!

I sync up with so much of what you said about living in Mexico. The people are the number one reason. On a daily basis there are always unexpected encounters that warm your heart. I don't know why they're so accepting of us but they are....even when there's no financial incentive. I've never felt so safe in the past ten years as I do living here in Mexico...Merida to be precise. I did not feel safe in the U.S. because of random crime, mass shootings, and hateful outbursts that would happen when you least expected it.... a plumber one time, and insurance agent, a barber, etc. People are wrapped very tightly and ready to explode. I enjoy every day here and even when there are problems like the Tangerine's battery somehow things work out.
We mexicans are very accepting of ppl that come to Mexico. We can take you in as one of us right away. Also we tend to trust foreigners right away. So welcome to Mexico!!!
Absolutely love your videos! I watch them as soon as they're released. Have been to Mexico about 18 times, and thinking it's time to start staying for longer periods of time. You are absolutely spot on about how wonderful the Mexican people are...they are kind and very considerate. Food is amazing too. A great place to escape during the cold winter months.
Just came back from our first visit to Mexico 🇲🇽. Visited Mexico City for a week and was blown away by the amazing architecture, culture and history. The people were so kind and so proud of their heritage. Will definitely be visiting Mexico again soon! Maybe even retiring there soon 🥰. Regarding comments that we treat "gringos" well for their dollars, it's not true. We have many Central Americans working in Mexico that send money to their countries and we treat them well, too. In Mexico we value hard and honest work.

Been 3 times in Mexico and several times in USA...We are a mix European family and in my experience. American culture is mainly about milking you as a tourist, some people are very friendly others really rude when you go to usa. We ve found the Mexican a lot more generous, approachable and easy going. They make you feel welcome and share their culture with pride and kindness...since our last trip usa/mexico there is no debate on where we cannot wait to go back to discover more...Mexico all the way🇲🇽 What an amazing country, beautiful people, astonishing culture, incredible landscapes and delicious food. Americans don’t have a culture or tradition in common because we are a nation of Immigrants. It is great to live in a country like Mexico, or, in my case, Ukraine, where the people have a common heritage, culture, language, and traditions. I found that as an American, I missed not having these in my country. On the other hand, if you are observant, you can learn from the traditions of immigrants in the US. The melting pot theory does not have to mean the dissipation of individual cultures and traditions. It can mean the preservation of those cultures as well.
Wow, that's a rare perspective. In an ideal society, diverse cultures keep their identity and strengthen it, thus inviting the strengthening of other cultures. Meanwhile, all cultures work together to create a fantastic country. The more individualistic each person and culture is, the more enlightened the society. Of course, what happens is that one culture decides it's the best and that the others are evil and have to be destroyed. If possible, a person could choose to live in a country that adheres as closely as possible to the ideal of mutual respect, enjoyment, and cooperation.
I agree. I love mexico because its 99 percent mexicans. If it was taken over by chinese and Saudis and Africans and koreans and Russians it wouldn't be fun. My hometown long island used to have a culture in the 1980s and 1990s. It was english speaking, everyone was born in america, everyone had only one country, and we all celebrated the same holidays. Now? It's like a combination of all countries, and the main language is now Spanish. Not mexican spanish but guatemalan and elnsalvadore spanish
Inna Tobys I lived in Ukraine from 2000 to 2015. I’ve since relocated back home and live in Florida. In Ukraine, I lived in Kyiv, where I edited the country’s English language newspaper and later worked in public relations and advertising. Even though I’ve been back to the states now for about three years, I still miss Ukraine. Not so much the winters, but otherwise I miss it.
I would not want my post to be misinterpreted - I am not anti-immigrant. Not at all. What I meant to communicate is that the United States is a country composed primarily of immigrants: Europeans, Africans, Hispanics, Asians - you name it, they have made a home here, as my ancestors did. I believe that America is better as a multicultural society. However, I also recognize that more homogenous societies, like Ukraine, Mexico and others, offer rich cultures that can be enjoyed and appreciated. To me, that’s the real purpose of travel.

I have also lived out of the USA (in Central America on a boat) since May, and I can agree with so many of the comparisons you have made, especially how freeing it is from the social and political rhetoric and the societal fear of what is happening there now. It does create a lightness to living to not be surrounded by it! Like you, I am traveling with my loyal pup, and that poses some challenges, but even the veterinary care is more reasonable outside the USA, and once you can break through the language barrier you see the care is just as good. If/when I return to the USA, I am considering a prompt return to Mexico with my Lola (border collie) and my Prius, so I love that you are giving me information on the mechanical highs and lows of what I can expect. Long story short: I always enjoy your videos and the honesty and realness in them. Keep up the outstanding work!

There is a very big difference between the Americans that go to Mexico and the Mexicans that come to the US. Most Mexicans that come to America are looking for work so if you are an employer you would like that but as a laborer (which most Americans are) you see them as competition that keep wages low. In Mexico they see most Americans as tourists, you are not going to take their job you are bringing money into the country, It's a very different dynamic that gets a spotlight shined on it every time the economy is failing or there is high unemployment or when wages aren't keeping up with the cost of living.

My family came to the US from Mexico almost 20 years ago and my mom still tells me that once we came here was when we gained weight. She said even the chicken in Mexico taste better, she says the food is richer over there . There is definitely a lot happening with the produce here, I try to buy organic but its also expensive which is a huge problem.

I've only ever visited the resorts and cruise ports but I love going to Mexico. Everyone is so friendly and you can tell that the locals appreciate the tourists. Can't say the same about the states where everyone seems so resistant to tourists.

Some much of this video resonate with my husband and I and we are excitedly planning our first trip to Mexico this coming September. Sadly, our daughter and her boyfriend declined to join us with her boyfriend saying “I’d like to keep my kidneys thank you very much”. I couldn’t get them to agree to watch any of yours or Kinetic Kennons or any other videos of expats living in Mexico so I didn’t argue that because I realized they had ideas about Mexico and there wasn’t going to be anything we could do to change their minds other than go and come back. But we are considering retirement in Mexico and will be visiting Puerto Morelos for at least a week. So looking forward to it and hopefully getting to meet you both. And Laska! Hahaha

I also like the 180 days visa free. Here''s a few others that have it: Panama, Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, Canada, UK, Bermuda, Mauritis, and St Lucia. Of course places like American Samoa, Guam, the Marshall Islands and the Northern Marina Islands have indefinite stays for US citizens. Interesting to look up!

I grew up with a lot of exposure to the Mexican culture here in the U.S. And if I have learned anything from my friends here, it is that they truly value their family. All my friends of Mexican ancestry from yesterday to today always make me feel as though once I meet them I am part of their familia also. It doesn't matter where I go, my Mexican friends make me feel I am a part of them. I love this because I grew up in a dysfunctional family unit and didn't get to experience this except when I was visiting with my friends family's. I have been to a few places in Mexico and have also experienced what you have said to be true.
What I hate about the U.S. is the fear that they try to instill in it's citizens about people of another color or socio-economic class. I just don't have that fear myself, and won't feed in to that frenzy they have going on right now.

Fantastic video! Where do you get your limitless enthusiasm from... informative and very well presented. Lots of politics hidden in there, but as an outsider looking in, lots of people, companies and, yes, countries rely on America. Mexico seems like a panacea, like a few other distant European countries, but they all have their own sets of issues, whether it's trade deficits, health care, employment and so on. America is so large and diverse there will always be pockets of extremism, it even applies here in the UK (one of the reasons for Brexit). But so much comes out of America, technology, art, culture and manufacturing. I don't see this anywhere else, why? All I would say is vote with a pen and paper and not your feet and hope that Mexico stays the ideal holiday destination that it is. Well done again and I look forward to the next inspirational and thought provoking video!

As a peruvian married to a wonderful mexican, I got married to his Culture and love it as much as love him and my sons. Mexicans are very caring and family oriented so are my peruvian “compatriotas”. Unfortunately, there are different types of people and they can get very offended when someone doesn’t like our food. Traditional peruvian food is usually very different from the traditional mexican food. Like in Mexico, we have a great variety dependind of the regions (Provincias there). Just give it a chance next time and try other things. Peru has a lot of power source and enriched foods like quinoa, kiwicha, maca or camu-camu. Do a little reasearch before you go and won’t be disappointed.

I've seen the service for $2 per pound. So this service would've cost us $68 USD at that particular place in the US for this amount of laundry.
You're right, the price is very affordable, the thing is I'm OCD and I don't like other people touching my clothes or not knowing what detergent they used. I rather pay the fee to use the machines and do it myself 😄😄

I'm so glad you guys make videos like this. I am a Mexican American and I have mainly traveled to northern Mexico but my father is from the south in Chiapas, and we really want to go visit as my father hasn't been there since he left when he was 18 to come to the U.S. I live in Finland now and my husband has gone to Mexico once. He didn't like that everyone stared at him (very tall, blonde, Scandinavian features etc.) Finns are very antisocial even with each other so all the attention he drew, even though people were nice, made him uncomfortable. I'm still hoping one day we could go with him to San Luis Potosi or somewhere where there is usually more tourists and maybe he will feel better and won't stick out as much lol.
One thing I will say, the people are great in Mexico and most of Central America where I have lived and visited. And yes, it is true, most of them have very little but will take you in and treat you like family. It is truly amazing how generous and friendly most of them are. And honestly not to give the wrong impression, I loved living in Chiapas. It was one of the best times of my life. I got to live in the rainforest which there is nothing like it on earth and quite honestly so beautiful and a cherished memory, and this was before the Zapatista rebellion, and also before crime and the drug trade started.

What would you say, after two years of living in Mexico is the reason for the food in the U.S. being so problematic to good health? I also agree with how you view the economy of the U.S. With all the extremely poor decisions being made at the top, the U.S. is becoming more of a developing country every day. So far, I have had nothing but very positive experiences with locals in Mexico. I can totally relate to the comments on friendly and welcoming locals. From taxi drivers, to tour operators to security and police, they have all been so amazing

This may have been discussed before, but this is the first video I've seen of yours. How are you handling the water.? When I went to Cancun years ago, I knew not to drink the water. But at the hotel, I thought it would be safe as I could smell chlorine. All I did was brush my teeth in their water, and after about 3 days I came down with Montazuma's Revenge. Did you acclimate to it, or just avoid it.?

@@TRIPONTHIS As of November 2019 it's available in Cancun but not from the airport. But it's not available in Puerto Morelos, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, or anywhere else in the Mayan Riviera to the best of my knowledge.
@@TangerineTravels I live in cancun and didn't know that uber is starting up here. I won't buy a vehicle because of the many expenses you mentioned in the video and because transportation is so darn CHEAP. 30 pesos to practically anywhere i want to go in the downtown zones of the city. The city buses are only 9 pesos or 12 to the "hotel zone" , the BEACHES. BTW, you should highlight the fact that cancun has ZERO SEAWEED on it's beaches , absolutely beautiful. I'm watching this video and I understand the many reasons why you relocated to Mexico, but at the same time I have to point out the USA has a deep culture, traditions and attire and dances - if you both had only bothered to visit the Native American reservations in AZ and the 4 Corners area. Its clear that neither of you really bothered exploring what AZ and the 4 Corners region had to offer in terms of food/culture/traditions/dances/folklore. Over the last 10 years, I have attended many pow wows and visited as many Native American reservations and have really come to appreciate what they offer to us and how they can enrich the fabric of our lives. Granted the food is no where near as diverse as found in the many states of Mexico. But I do agree with you that too many USA residents make their decisions based on fear and willful ignorance.

Also can you talk about how in the USA there it’s like a constant advertisement - driving around and there’s tens of thousands of fast food, clothing, - it’s bombarding... it makes people consuming zombies.. does that happen in Mexico?
George Washingbeard it’s happening more and more. Specially in big cities you get the avenues full of billboards it’s stupid, but it’s really easy to escape it. But I think it will never be as bad as the US. As much as we love to “Americanise” everything, the Mexican prevails, we love fast food, and there’s a culture of people loving American chains, but everyone from the poorest guy to the poshest one, will have a favorite taco stand. We may go grocery shopping to Walmart or HEB or whatever, but we know to go the markets for really good stuff, people take pride in knowing small business that carry cheaper and better produce or meats. And the fact that society is very family/tribe oriented keeps us from going full mindless consumer. I think retail therapy is a thing and a lot of people use it as a coping mechanism, but I guess the fact we are not that isolated and never really fully leave the nest prevents a lot of people to fall for it. Of course we have other huge issues, but in general I thing that our culture is based in really strong support systems, and that’s something that sometimes American culture lacks. You want to be independent not lonely. You want to have your own space, not completely isolated. You want to be your own person and find yourself, but you don’t need the trauma of being kicked out of your home at 18 without really knowing what to do and without someone having your back.
I think in Mexico we could use more hustle culture instead of just mindlessly working our entire lives for other people, and I would love to have more of a entrepreneurial mindset, we are used to think safe and reliable. And Americans could benefit from closer relationships, looking out for the other instead of just for oneself.

I’ve been to Mexico several times, loved my visits.
I moved from India to USA, and it is heaven here. Not trapped in India is a big deal. The same for Mexico or any third world country. I think you should learn to love and respect USA because it gave you so much and you enjoy the exalted level when you travel just because you are American. Stop complaining about USA would be a good start. BTW I love your videos, you guys are doing a great job.
