Never visited HolBox, but I spent a few days in EL Cuyo beginning this year and I fell in love with the place for being so quiet, having so few people on its infinitely long beautiful beach, and I would like to return one day despite that while driving back to the airport I had to bribe the police twice. That was a very mexican experience!

Sunset is so fab. Did you go to the dark sky reserve area for the bioluminescence? Incredible on a clear night. Like a dome of stars. Magical. The kayak tour of the mangroves is also fabulous. Go early while still cool. And the boat tour to the other little islands and bird reserve. Super cool. The water is only about 15 - 30 inches deep. You're really missing the best parts of the island.
This video was fun guys. My wife and I have resented golf carts a couple time on Isla Mujeres and it’s always been exactly like that. Totally sketchy lol. We travel a lot and we always try to learn the basics in the local language. I just feel like it’s respectful, and usually locals really appreciate us trying even if we’re not perfect! Isla Holbox looks awesome!

Must have changed a lot. I was there for about a week 15 years ago and I thought it was reasonable expense wise and really beautiful. Whale sharks were awesome.
The tiny island of Isla Holbox has a great laidback vibe to it. Along with the beautiful beaches and glorious sunshine, its glittering Caribbean waters are also home to incredible marine life, with whale sharks being the pick of the lot. Above water is just as wonderful

The best way to experience Holbox is via a day trip like Holbox Mexico out of playa del Carmen you see everything to see and eat for under 100 bucks. 3 hour trip there but stops along the way. An awesome full day.
wow that is so undeveloped lower florida keys. and the paths are flooded based on tides just like the lower keys too. so cool. but man those golf carts look pricey.
So sad you couldn't go all the way to Punta Mosquito. I recommend you to go to Holbox during a drier season and go to Punta Mosquito as it is a _heaven_, so so beautiful. If someone asks me what is my favorite place on earth, it's Punta Mosquito. I found you guys only a few days ago on RUclips, I really love watching your videos, you guys seem genuinely such nice people, and Laska is super cute! I love how you really get in to know to the culture and food, and really care about the nature and getting to know to the locals. Mexico has a special place in my heart, however I've only visited Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Chiapas, but I hope someday I could travel around the country like you have. That sunset was beautiful! Love how the crane showed up just in time for the capture! When driving to Punta Cocos (or anywhere), are there signs showing you where to go on the roads, or do you have to rely on GPS throughout the island?
You can’t get lost, sometimes there will be signs but not on every street. You can get to Punta Cocos by just asking people. No big deal you can get there easy.
Great video guys! Can you guys do a video on what shoes you wear when traveling and do reviews on them? It’s a struggle finding comfortable shoes for walking while still being comfortable in hot weather.
I'm in Holbox right now as I'm re-watching this video (I arrived just today) - cause I want to know which restaurants are good.... But yeah, the roads here are insane. I came with one large piece of luggagge and as my airbnb was really close to the port and I wanted to save money, I decided not to taky any taxi. Well, I did save money but it was quite an ordeal as the road was full of water and a sidewalk was barely existent. On top of that, it took me some time to find the appartment. But everything turned out just fine. I'm in the departamento Brisa del Mar, which is right at the mainstreet and very, very cozy and clean. And the landlord has an extremely cute dog. Tomorrow I want to book a tour and the day after tomorrow I definitely want to walk toward Punta Mosquitos. Can't wait to explore this abandoned part of the world.

Holbox was always expensier, it was not the right moment to go, not the right month... but you went to the expensier hotel I have been there is great! You rented the golf car... you went to the expensier places to eat... definitely you took bad decitiions... Holbox is la joya 💎!!

By the time we finished filming this, we didn't yet know if it was going to work. Fortunately, we took it out of the rice after about 24 hours and the water under the lens was gone.

I think you guys went on a raining season, and It all depends where you stay. Holbox is way cheaper than Tulum, for a beach front hotel, Tulum is way more expensive. Holbox is an island to go and relax, there is not much to do, a few tours and whale sharks but only during season, so it’s more of a relax place.

Another great video! I went to Punta Mosquito last February, didn’t see flamingos but there was a hidden sign with Caution: crocodiles 😂 And yes, you pronounced croissant correctly! I agree with you, speaking spanish, even very imperfectly, will get you better deals! I remember a beach hut bar on Cozumel where a not too respectful American paid his beer $5, and I paid mine $1.
We totally should have done a boat tour and avoided that awful experience. We didn’t mention it in the video but we had to walk over 30 minutes in the blazing sun after that because no taxi golf carts ever came by 😩🥵

I watched your videos and your meals were just a few bucks which seems affordable. I am looking to go next month in August with my teen daughter and wondering how many days to stay in Holbox. Also we are gluten and dairy free so how did you that work for you with meals?
You know the guy you bought the flan from used to sell special brownies 🤪!!!! Not no more tho. It would of been nice if you had gone to the animal shelter to walk one of the dogs. That is actually a very popular tourist activity at Holbox, the tourist take out the dogs for a walk 😍!!!! And if you go to Holbox during raining season you have to take rain boots, because there is no way you will not get your feet wet, it’s just part of the experience. People just go in the puddles to get across or take your shoes off and jump in lol!!!

Isla Holbox is where the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico meet. Mostly the water is murky, not clear.

On your next visit to Holbox, you walk the sandbar to punta Mosquito. Not near as many bugs and you get all the way there.

You can also get boat rides. Not cheap though, gas for the boats costs and skill to operate vessel is important! My fam enjoyed it a lot.
