Thameslink will be serving Wixams railway station once it’s built and completed. I be looking forward to the new station being built with new homes built.
When is the new foundation for the new station due to be built along with the station structure, platforms, footbridge and a new car park. I’m hoping that the new station at Wixams should be completed in Summer 2025.
It is most likely preparatory works to join the line from Milton Keynes to the Bedford mainline be crossing under the main line. A lot of services need to be moved firstly.
Yes it will, it has been going through the planning process for about 15 years!! Wixams Station will be a 2 platform station if Universal Studios doesn't go ahead... If the Universal Studios project does happen (Which it is likely to...), then Wixams Station will be a 4 platform station.
Me and the wife love Oak Island, they've mastered the art of finding nothing to another level lol you've gotta watch Expedition Bigfoot too, it's always a case of "what was that over there out of camera shot" can't beat bad American TV
I shall check it out! I recall one with treasure scatters about an island under houses and such. I didn't even bother after episode 1 with that. I only have time for one time sinkhole in my life. Although, let's be honest, there is something going on at oak island. For sure there was some kind of dock.
Not really happy with the station design. I would like a bay platform and I'm not happy with platforms on 125mph running lines later on. Line 1 closest will be separated by an island platform and curve around it. They will not curve the fast lines as it will require trains to slowdown. Which means the slow lines will need to be shunted across quite a bit towards the camera.
Thanks for the update. I live in Northamptonshire and I really look forward to travelling to the new station and seeing all the development.
The horns are usually blown to warn workers of an approaching train
Yer but they do toot at each other to communicate also.
The horns are used as a warning when the rrv's are about to move in either direction

2026 is it's estimated date and that's if Universal drop out and the plans do not change. Who knows what it's be it the have to add 2 more platforms.

No, that'll never happen. This is widening the track gaps to fit platforms between.
Are they planning on building the station regardless of whether the project will go ahead? Or just hoping for the best and trying to get a head start.

@@eskimojoe365 Gotcha, thankyou!
Accurate.
I believe that if PU happens there will be 4 platforms not 2.

Ballasting 😊
Yes that line is closed as the red barriers are there to stop workers from going onto an open line
That's what I figured. Thanks for the comment 👍

Good shout, didn't think of that. So ultimately a platform either side of 4-5 and one between 1-2 then 4-5 line wouldn't need to be touched.
