The latest game in Worst Game On Steam is Hammer of Virtue. It's a game about physics, destruction and ragdoll effects. It came to my attention after seeing the same ad for it on Twitter almost daily.
For $20 Hammer of Virtue could really do with more polish, content and yeah that's basically it. Hammer of Virtue isn't the worst game I've ever played, I did have fun at times, it did make me laugh and smacking enemies across the map wont ever get old! The contrast in difficulty is very steep though, from launching monkeys and whacking bears to being relentlessly hassled by big dinosaurs.
In a way this is a review for Hammer of Virtue, I don't consider myself a reviewer, just a guy who dumpster dives strange indie games. But it's currently a "Cursor not locked into the screen"/10
I'll keep my eye on it with the hope that it improves. Hopefully this becomes a What Went Right some day.

Honestly "Be careful with this unbreakable armour" is a great joke

This might sound strange but after the negative hellscape on the Steam page of Hammer of Virtue the comments on this video gives me the power to keep on trying to turn it around.

i think your concept art and the story you have for this game is great so far. there's a lot of good bases for game mechanics, and this would all be really well rounded with some more polish put into it. i think this game will be something great if you continue putting time into it and refining what's already there

Me too. Even though it's rather basic text-to-speech samples, I think it would be cool if her "voice" was extracted from the game so it could be used for Windows sounds or something. Imagine an error dialog appearing and her saying "Bad".
one of these games where all it takes is a little bit more work on the big issues and the right price would turn it into a sleeper.

Everytime you smack an enemy into a building, I keep thinking of scenes in dragon ball where someone gets hit through a mountain.
"Now, I'm going to throw you at that mountain."

The concept for this game is sound, and the physics seem fun, but it definitely feels more like a student project game than something money went into. I could see picking it up for maybe $5, but anything more than that feels like you're being ripped off when there are so many well made free games out there.
The price is the problem of the game
yeah i would rather purchase Styx again, and that game was a low budget indy game, and it was good, in fact it still is a good game.
The Developers also made "A Bastard's Tale" which goes for $5 and even less on a sale, it's 2d with pixel art, it's hard but also fells rewarding when you finally beat it.
Yeah this game looks just like dumb fun to go around and make everything fly with hammer

This game needs a lot of work, but the combat mixed with physics is a pretty cool concept.
This channel is so much less entertaining than your channel covering what wrong with games.

Mate, I admire your patience and willingness to dive into a game with an open heart. I've seen you cover so many games that I would not give 30 seconds to, let alone see what they have to offer past the main menu. You're a trooper we all could learn from, and funny as hell. :) I hope you keep on doing your thing.
The difference is he extracts value from even the worst of games by putting out these videos, whereas a regular consumer does not

honestly the idea behind it about making an Earth defence force inspired game with the destruction of a Red faction guerilla and OG crackdown is actually neat its a shame it was so poorly executed i wish some people would make that kind of combination

@@SpikeRose not really Deep rock galactic is more of a left 4 dead with bugs , Earth defence force is something on its own its over the top grand scale battle with hundreds of devastating weaponry and armies of insects ,aliens , kaijus , mechas to kill and all the series need is a destruction system like a red faction game

deep rock is a fun game but its nowhere like an edf, its truly closer to a l4d with the ability to mine
edf goes way harder on rule of cool, and theres an insane amount of weapons which can feel completely different (and be beyond absurd)
a edf+red faction game would be amazing, it sucks that theres some amazing games that had no one take inspiration from, much less fuse genres to create something even better

I don't know, this game feels like it has some potential. If it gets no man's sky treatment over the next couple of years it might actually pan out to something reasonably good
It has the bones. It just needs content, an fps fix and maybe more weapon variety
This is an asset flip that was probably thrown together in a few weeks by some new game devs, it's strange how they were so cheap that they used free animations from Miximo but spend tons of money on marketing
honestly, yeah, I agree. hell, if they made even just a few improvements and quartered the price...it kinda seems like a fun time.
Agree fully on the potential. The gameplay looks fun, imagine this with online MP w/ your friends. Could be a game that streamers would pick up on, but it looks like it needs quite a lot of work. No Man's Sky is a very rare minority in games that were actually able to "turn it around", sadly.
100%, halfway through and I’m wishing this thing had a coat of polish with some fleshed out content. It would 100% be a hit. For honor combat and red faction destruction? Hell yeah.

Love the games logic. You can bring down an entire building with a single swing but can only slightly dent a car.
Okay, fast travel by literally yeeting yourself across the map is fun.

I think the best one yet is the upcoming "Hundred Acre Wood"; a first-person cosmic horror game.
I hear the victory jingle and my first thought is... "Wiz, are you playing Happy Wheels?" Like that is just a pitched down victory jingle from Happy Wheels.
The whole 'only a few destructible environments to kill things in' thing does work, if done right and the areas are big enough and there's enough different kinds of enemies to spice things up. EDF is basically that.
The voice delivery in that last bit.. "Imagine what we could accomplish together!" *chops you with his strange dual helicopter rotor blades/swords*

I recognize that font they used on the UI and menus. It’s neuropol, the font used in the Animusic logo. The whole rest of the Animusic community goes insane like sleeper agents when they see it and it’s starting to rub off on me
I'm glad this game got covered. Twitter was advertising this pretty hard to atleast me for a while so seeing a review for it is actually kinda interesting.

Think the last game I've played with destructible enemies was Valk Profile 2 for the PS2, there's some downright amazing stuff you can inflict on most things in that game. As long as they aren't ghosts or bees(who count as ghosts) since they don't really have any destructible parts.
I love that the skybox is literally a huge box
would prob be better if bears werent heavy and gave them a charge attack, so they actually pose a threat, since their attacks are too slow, that way bears are engaging and dangerous and fun to go against, maybe add a way to launch nearby debris into enemies while locking on, like an acurate way maybe
Of all the bad games you've played, this honestly looks kinda fun if you're really really bored. Sadly it needs huge polishing, but the idea is fun... you're a robot of total mayhem, you'll destroy ANYTHING in a neighborhood or a city just to destroy the bad guy. If the guy had more budget and make things much more chaotic, it'll be like the game Rampage

This actually looks really fun for like, two younger brothers to play. The physics are ridiculous, and the frustrating parts would be made hilarious with two players.

This is like a proof-of-concept demo for a cool idea but not really something one should charge $20 for.
The elaborate concept art mixed with the small team in the credits makes me wonder if they maybe bit off more than they could chew resource-wise, but I hope they can turn it around and figure out a scale that works for them. Maybe cut down on the amount of levels and rework them with better art direction and more varied environmental gameplay opportunities, that kind of thing.
Those raptors screeching and flying around and the fragile robots kicking with one leg are hilarious, though. My god.
You know watching this, If this game was only a couple usd or free, it would most likely be heralded as a underrated gem, the story is actually interesting, the physics seem fun, I think it’s the price that is keeping it down

Tbh the concept needs a little fleshing out but its a great start.
A goofy physics based tokusatsu-inspired dynasty warrior-esque game that fully embraces the b-movie vibes is personally the direction I would go with the concept.

This game is honestly pretty good from what I've seen so far, the physics are so satisfying.
Compared to other crap games, this one is somewhat functional and if it wasn't a cash grab, and an actual game with an actual dev team, then it could be really fun.

Any time I see a game do the "level select from main menu" thing, I expect trash and I have yet to be wrong.
I always wanted some superhero/anime type fighting game sort of like this. I mean sort of like prototype but with this style of physics

I guess because _you're_ not unbreakable, and if you die it might be difficult for them to recover it.
Also, it's not un*loseable* armor, so you still have to be careful in that sense :P

imagine if a game like this was made with euphoria
i can imagine a world where this is the greatest fun game ever... make it multiplayer and getting hit reduces your weight, killing small NPCs can get you weight back, goal is to smack the other players off the battlefield, and the story: just make it some futuristic sport or something. it could be a third person scifi smash bros .... but no they just fucked up :(

4:10 That sounds like the lady from Deus Ex: The Fall, when you're playing the first stage and she tells you what to do
Seeing the guy getting tossed through stuff and the reactions the physics has makes me feel like some kind of concept exists. Games have really dropped off any physics destruction in recent high-profile releases, seeing your main character blasting between trees and them bending by the force actually feels inspired in this day and age.

Have you played either of "The Surge" games? The parry thing in this game reminds me of it. Only thing is the surge games are legitimately awesome.
