Learning this song rn. Holy shit it’s tough. My fingers are bleeding from all of the slides in the opening riff, I’ve literally had to change my way of doing slides just to be able to play it… great job!
But the slides are what makes it fun! Please try Clockworks at 1:29, it's the riff that made me want to learn that song on my bass and that part is so fun to play over and over once you get it down.
The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters or The Dream of Reason Produces Monsters is an aquatint by the Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco Goya. Created between 1797 and 1799 for the Diario de Madrid, it is the 43rd of the 80 aquatints making up the satirical Los caprichos. MESHUGGAH RULES!
Wow, what a great cover! Your playing and the sound of this Dingwall fits Meshuggah very well! I mainly play guitar, but if I would buy a new bass, it surely would be a 5 string Dingwall, gorgeous to look at and to listen to.
Thank you so much! I'm currently running this with a set of 45-60-80-100 Lo-Riders with an Extra Long 130 Hi-Beam on the bottom. Normal length DR strings fit four string Dingwalls perfectly, but for the fifth you'll need an Extra Long string :)
Dude your channel is my favorite since I saw these videos! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘 I am a guitarist and I was doing research to to know what bass guitar to buy for my studio. After I saw your channel I wanna be a bassist😅 I have a question, imagine you wanna cover all of the Meshuggah songs and the budget you have only works for one Bass guitar, could you recommend me a model? You got a great ears and I trust you. NG3 for example sounds awesome to my ears, but it's a little bit above my budget! That aria also you have also sounds good, but it seems like they stoped making them. I'm open to any model you suggest, I tried Schecter SLS elite, that one also not bad so far.
Oh thank you so much! That's a tough question. For 4-string stuff I'd probably go with a Spector Pulse 4-string, those are just amazing for the money and the pickups offer a nice variety of tones. Any other PJ equipped bass such as the LTD Surveyor should work too! For 5-string stuff it's a bit harder decision. On the cheaper side the Squier Classic Vibe models are amazing for the price, but for a more solid bass I'd go with the Spector NS Pulse 5-string with their 35" scale. Just swap the pickups for a Jazz style set and you're all good :)
@@Paajanenae Thank you so much for that suggestion. I think I need a 5 string because, as you know, most of their songs are low tuned on A as Dick Lövgren does it. Any suggestion also for a 5/6 string?🦖 or let's say if I'm not going to cover Meshuggah, any suggestions for a good 5/6 string that has a good value for the money.
@@OrganicaShadows Personally I'd avoid any 5-string bass with less than 35" scale unless you're really going in on a budget. Six string basses only add a high string so I guess you'd already know if you'd be into those. The Spector Pulse I already mentioned can do a lot of things, but on the budget side the Cort GB55JJ is also pretty nice. Finding a good 5 string can be a bit tricky, much more so than with 4 string basses
@@Paajanenae yep I check scale lengh first whatever model I'm checking! But doesn't a 6 string give me a ticker string so I dont need to tune down my 5 string? 🤔I liked the the Spector Pulse's 5 string, but still I'm not fully sure yet. Because if I add 500$ I can get a way better tone. Tone is my number one priority to me. Let's remove the budget limitation. Then what can be a good option? I only play modern metal with my 8 string and let's pass on Dingwall for now. Highly appreciate your responses🍻
@@OrganicaShadows No, six string basses add an extra high string to a five string basses, they aren't usually tuned any lower but you get an extra C on top for nice chords, solo work or tapping. To be entirely honest, to me after the NS Pulse the next step up in terms of quality is a Dingwall. The NS Pulse series basses are just incredible tools and the playability is top notch. Schecter makes some nice models too, but none of their 5 string models currently sit right with me. That's just me though :)
Sir, your playing is quite precise yet energetic, but I'm sorry, I need to take a shower after I heard that tone. Absolutely fucking disgusting and filthy and I want it. Will you be doing a review of this Dingwall, if I may ask?
Hahaha, I love filthy tones! I'm thinking of doing a review on this one, but I'll need to play it a bit more to get a good understanding on it :) Maybe later this year!
This is a lesser known Meshuggah song but the main riff of this song is fucking awesome. So bouncy
This song FUCKS.

@@darkySp yeah clockworks is a lot of fun to play. That riff was actually what inspired me to learn Stifled. Feels pretty similar to play.
Crushed it as usual! Underrated track imo, one of my faves
The first channel I go to for Meshuggah bass covers is yours. The tone is pitch perfect, and your playing is insane as always.
Honestly, incredible.
This hits like a train everytime, Jesus! Solid cover 💯
One of my faves.
Sounds great man!
You really nailed the album tone here, great job!
Thank you! This bass needed some extra tweaking to get it where I wanted it but it paid off!

The amazing qualities of Dingwall instruments make me connect with and transmit the feeling of the song easier 😉
