Salted Caramel Syrup

  • Ingredients:
    1.5 cups granulated sugar
    1/4 cup water
    4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)
    Directions:
    In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
    Once the sugar is dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture come to a boil. Allow it to boil undisturbed until it turns a deep amber color. Swirl the pan occasionally to ensure even caramelization.
    Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring constantly. Be careful as the mixture will bubble again. Stir until the cream is fully combined.
    Now add the butter to the pan. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble. Stir until the butter is fully melted .
    Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sea salt.
    Allow the caramel sauce to cool for a few minutes in the saucepan before transferring it to a glass jar or container.
