@@bujin1977 Don't be mistaken, the lady is not to be taken for granted. There is a famous story about her: In the early days, before she was in Nightwish, she was playing with her band (I think it must have been After Forever, or Revamp) on some festival, and there was some rowdy bloke in the audience who was bothering people and shouting profanities at her, etc. (you get the picture). Until Floor had had enough, and she stopped the band, and pointed at the guy, and said: "he you there..., yes..., you... I want to talk to you after the show...". History doesn't tell what happend to the guy, but for as we know nothing was heard from him anymore...

Floor Jansen is a 6ft tall Dutchwoman who had been with the band only ten months and was singing every song written for the previous singers and nailing it. Almost all of this crowd had never heard Floor sing with Nightwish as she took over mid tour in the USA with 48 hours to learn the setlist. They then continued their worldwide tour and had only recently retuned to Europe.
She's Finnish. She's married to Sabaton's drummer.

I love how much attention this song is still getting. I fell in love with it back when Tarja was the lead. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it. Floor kills it as well. One of my all time favorite songs.

Floor is a multitalent. She’s the most versatile singer on the planet IMHO, anything from growling metal to operatic soprano. She recently supported Metallica’s concerts in Amsterdam, along with her buddy Henk Poort.
She’s taking a break now, after suffering from exhaustion. She’s pregnant and she was just taking too much on.
I hope she’s ok, but I don’t think we are going to hear too much from her for a couple of months.

Epica is another good female-fronted symphonic metal band
There are so many female fronted symphonic metal bands, but Epica is definitely top-tier. Another good one is Visions of Atlantis.

They are actually also, in a way, part of the Nightwish family. Because they were formed by a former member of After Forever, that was also Floor Jansen's previous band.
Best live performance ever I know and it's already from 2013, played in front of 83.000 Nightwish army troops...and the army has grown and still grows like mushrooms after rain.
I've seen them a total of 17 times over the years with all three vocalists that they have went through over the years, Tarja, Anette, and Floor. They are great live and that is why I adore them so much. There are a LOT of talented bands within the symphonic and even gothic metal genres that you should eventually take a look at if you like this genres sound, even if it is within your own time off screen. Metal hits different, especially live.
I so envy you having been in the Nightwish train for so long. I only stumbled upon them last year ( Wacken 13 GLS of course) and love all three singers in their own way. I only hope that, had I been in at the start I would have mirrored your own appreciation of the development and different stages of the band. I am genuinely saddened by those whose views are ‘the world ended when Tarja left’ or ‘Annette was rubbish’.

Hard to believe, but this is one of their kind of laid back songs. Check out Romanticide, Storytime, Everdream or really any of the songs from this 2013 Wacken Festival. This band is so tight and the singers is phenomenal.
Hey BP, loving your reactions to the metal side of the musical spectrum, as well as obviously your Ren reactions and everyone else's reaction you talk into reacting with you. Another band along similar lines of Nightwish that I would recommend trying out is Sabaton. Floor Jansen's husband, Hannes Van Dahl, is the Drummer for Sabaton and they primarily write songs based upon historical events so if you're interested in History, they are a must to listen to. My recommendations (in no particular order) would be "En Livstid I Krieg (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg)" (English Subs are available for this one), Christmas Truce (especially awesome to get you and Joe e Sparks to react to the music video for "Christmas Truce"), "40-1 Live at Woodstock 2012", "Bismarck", and "1916" (which is a Motorhead Cover). There are plenty of other gems to listen to in addition to these but those are just ones I'd recommend trying out

The craziest part of the writing process is that Tuomas, the main composer/keyboardist, hears the music in his head, it just comes to him. He doesn't know how to write music for every instrument in an orchestra though, so he has a guy that helps transcribe his ideas into legible music for the band and they program the rest into the keyboards and he just plays. The dude is an actual savant, and he works with the best singer in the world.

Believe it or not, still between 20 and 30 live tracks from this band to go. Most of them as good as this one, some even better and a few absurd. All high level, a lot in very different styles, still being Nightwish. It is beyond comprehension how they stayed so long under the radar.

Love watching you discover Floor and NW. Takes me back to two years ago when I watched this song, and this band, for the first time.
For the next two weeks I only listened to this song. I was scared to watch any of their others, fearful of being disappointed. Little did I know, they had 40 more songs, all of which, after watching, you want to say, “THIS is their best song”.

No matter how many times I see people react to this song and this band I still get full body goosebumps just like up and down my body like pirates of the Caribbean game of thrones Lord of the rings things like that are some of my favorite movies and this brings all that to mind when I hear this music It is so soft but so hard so beautiful but just right there on the edge and it's perfect I love people's reaction to it because they get that same feeling it's just like it builds up that energy and then it's just like a slow soft release and it's just like that first breath of air after holding your breath underwater It just feels so soft gentle and warming I love it

Rap has its Base on actual, mostly confronting Themes, and done good, its an great Musicstyle, i give it that. The surely somehow unreal, positive Fantasy Vibe is Niche. In my humble Opinion, as Rap pointing the Finger in the Wound and makes you rethink and questioning Facts, Symph Metal can take you on an Journey in your Imagination, bringing Positivity and sometimes the needed Escape from the all Day Routine, without harming anyone. Both Styles ofc done as pro and devouted as NW does their Craft;)

I really love Nightwish! I saw them three times this year. Before I found Ren, they were my all-time favorites. Now they must share that honor with him. Amazing lyrics by both parties

this is an experience, you lived a full journey. a complete history with a siren and a love far from her. that's why it s a score , that s why there are different vibes during all the song.
A great explanation video said that the music composition for ghost love score was based in a music patern well known for bringing epicness at the end. But 4 times in the song that epicness is refused because of a minor key instead of the normal key you would get to bring the end.
Hense you get frustrated each time waiting , waiting , waiting and each time it gets even more powerfull goal till that last note that relieve the public from that sweet pain.
it's a master piece because it was designed like that (thuomas job) . But it's a master piece because every music player , the drum , the bass or the guitarist and the singer knows how to build that frustration growing.

Oh this was a great reaction guys! I look at this video and song in the manner of a roller coaster ride only in reverse. It starts out nice and easy, somewhere in the middle you're wondering where the big drop is, then along about the last half, it starts ramping up, then in the last few verses, it's like your there at the bottom of this huge incline slowly cranking you to the top and then over you go into that amazing belt. It has to be one of the most amazing live performances I've ever witnessed if not the most. I have always wished, no pun intended there, that these guys could do a Super Bowl halftime show. Could you imagine? People would be totally blind sided. Nightwish, who's that? Ohhhhhh, that's Nightwish.

You should definitely check out the live (Tampere, Finland) performance of "The Greatest Show on Earth". It is 20 minutes short, and goes rather quickly. That performance nicely shows NW in its full potential.

I love your reaction. I do not like rap or disco, ever since the seventies, as I am much more into Beatles, Genesis, Yes, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd and so on. But I was happy to discover Nightwish a few years ago, melodies and Floor's singing are great. I wonder if you know a rap song that would surprise me just as Nightwish surprised you :-)

I am a fan of Nightwish, and this is one of the best live versions of it, but if you want to hear a live version closer to Tuomas's writing of this song check out "End of an Era", It is Tarja's last performance with the band, and this song was written originally with Tarja's voice in mind.

Very nice reaction and your guest definitely understands music. He was right about a lot of things. For instance about this song not following the regular structure of songs with chorus bridge etc. Same for building tension and then stripping it down. Nightwish has a composer, not a songwriter.
He's also damn right about Lord of the Rings vibes, not only is the name of this piece of music a score, the Orchestra you hear playing is the London Philharmonic Orchestra.... yeah, the one that did Lord of the Rings... that one. This concert took place at August 3rd 2013 during Wacken Open Air, which they headlined in front of 82.000 people. I'm sure not everyone was a fan, but I'm pretty sure most of them left as a fan. This whole concert is this quality, it'[s one of the very best concerts ever recorded, and I know how that sounds, but check it out and you'll see I'm right. Every song is different but they are all crazy good. And best thing this is not their only crazy good concert there are more. In fact the only thing that beats the live videos, is actually seeing them live. If you ever get the chance do yourself a favor and go see them.
