Absolutely incredible to see Rory Gallagher’s gear still inspiring new generations. I'm in my 30s and my dad introduced me to his music when I was just starting out on guitar as a teenager - and I still love to play the Laundromat riff. Anyway, it’s amazing how his sound continues to resonate with so many of us today. What an icon. Great video. I wonder who the lucky new owner will be.
I know what Rory Gallagher did in Dayton Ohio in the 70's.... his guitar achievements were not just for the audience , it's like he was totally into his instrument himself and the audience got the witness it happening
(psst... the Edge's amp isn't a 1964, it's a common misnomer from Dallas, who isn't the sharpest at interviews. multiple accounts from techs who have actually worked on his amp directly clearly date it to later)
Dial your amp up to edge of break up. Maybe one that features a master volume would be wise . Engage treble booster effect setting the gain on that to be unity when the guitar volume is about 6 or 7. You can then overdrive the pedal by turning the guitar volume up for the desired lead tone. Do some research on treble boosters, not all will have the correct type of boost. They are simple circuits, usually one transistor, but are sold for £££. Kit versions are available for DIY. An overdrive pedal can get you in the ballpark too.
@@davidhawkins9206 If Rory had more than one AC30's with 'VOX" stenciled in the right corner you may be right. If he only had one with the stencil this is it.
That's the sound!
Those speakers are PRICELESS and when they are gone.. so is this amazing sound ..
🙏

These three have nailed the essence of Rory .. well said all
Man that Bad Penny at the intro was pure Rory. Made my hair stand on end.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hearing Zac play through that amp is almost like Rory is playing
Was not a Rory fan. But those tones are experiential and fabulous.

Well played lads!
Sounds class 👌
Yes! Turn on a VOX AC 30, wait 30 minutes and if you have a good Strat...!!! 👍🏻Greetings Adi 🎸🤗
the amp that changed everything for me was the Edge's 1964 Vox AC30

@@kenichi407 I remember reading about it in a guitar magazine about 15 years ago where it stated it was a '64. I guess that was wrong too ..
🔥
the best valve amp ,,ever
❤❤❤
So Vox make a reissue with that tone
Could someone give some helpful tone settings when dialing in an ac30 like this?

Such a great privilege given to few...
What is the riff at the beginning?
Bad penny
After all this time I reckon those ELs need changing. The preamp tubes should still be ok though.😊
I read a tech review of Rorys AC 30 and his amp was modified to run EL83's instead of EL84's.
@@mikeshaw4951 sure they aren't EL85's?
@@kenichi407 Yes. The tech emphasized that they were EL83's and the tube sockets had to be rewired.
This one was running el84s , I'm sure he had many others that were modified over the years

Wtf he used Fane Crescendos!
Looks like 22315 stamped
Which most likely means it's the 122315 16ohms ones
@@JR_Taylor iirc, Vox AC30TB had 16ohm outputs - those Fanes could be wired for 8 or 32Ohms. So he might have been playing with a mismatch!
Rose Morris era AC30?
