I know Labrinth's original and never expected to hear AJ cover it, but hey that's one of many reasons following her is so rewarding. We may have expectations about what AJ should cover or not, but I don't think "can't" and "shouldn't" are really in her musical vocabulary. Her voice is getting better because she is well surrounded and she loves singing. First notice tat she never strain her voice. She has been taught how to sing at a very young age. I do not believe that her parent had to push her to sing. She does it because she loves it. That might be the real gift after all. She has the talent and the love of music. Her granny being an artist probably taught her from a young age that perfection doesn't come easy. one must train. She seem to be practising all the time. When I listened to the Labrinth version, I understood more what Angelina had done. Until then, didn't know who is Labrinth. Now I know and I am impressed with the musicality Angelina brought to this. I find myself singing around the house, "Mt. Everest ain't got feet on me...." around the house. And you are a quick dip Dad tonight. Start saving up for her earphones now. This is not just head voice. This is pure whistle tone. Very few singers can use their whistle tone as beautifully and with as much control as Angelina. I quit being surprised when she comes out with something new and does it perfectly a long time ago.

Sebs, as you point out, AJ is not just a singer who was a prodigy -- she is a complete musician who arranged much of her material, even as a child. That's what makes her so special. I can't think of anyone other than Michael Jackson who navigated the transition from child star to mature star so well (and after all, AJ is still just 16).
Love your reaction. My God, that Aretha note -AAHHHHHm on top of the world. Its like a drug. Every time I hear it I want her to lengthen it by 10!! Just so pleasing to the jazz ear. This child is simply a miracle, period. Suggest doing her live version of Million Miles from this concert. She slowed it down and belted like Ive never heard her do before.
I am not sure anyone has heard anything like that belt before. I was at the concert and after she had belted for a couple of second I thought "wow, that was incredible", then she put in just another level, continued for a couple of seconds in a higher note. That was unbelievable!!
Many song she did from 12/13 were just over the top and have lost nothing of their appeal ever since. I feel the excitement about a child beeing so beyond expectations for that age often has overshadowed how good she really aready was, disregarding the child bonus.

I think this was an incredible incredible song that actually gets better and better each time it's listened to - ( though I probably say that about many ) I think the same opening song at her last concert ( 10th July ) might have been even a touch better than this one ( though great video and sound by the lovely Big Angie Fan - Chris ❤) She didn't open her first full concert ( on the 1st July ) with this so it was a great and welcome surprise at Konsgberg and then again for the 10th July concert in Sandefjord.

People talk about her rich, raspy tone and her skillful use of techniques like vocal fry, but something that doesn't get enough mention is the way she pronounces words.

I was standing 2 rows behind Cris Walker that made this video. In start she says hello and asks everyone how we were. After singing she says that it is so good to finally be here having a concert. She was more amazing to hear live, than on the videos. Had an amazing concert/evening in Kongsberg. I do hope she will come back for more intimate concerts like this. Dhe communicated so well with the audience and we saw she enjoyed every moment of it.

If you haven’t heard her higher register, have you listened to A Million Years Ago that she sang at age 12? If not, you definitely should. One of my favorites. Watch the guitarist’s expressions also as he hears her probably for the first time.
Yeah she keeps getting better and better and better. She just be working very hard for that to happen. Listen to the original, which is it good and atmospheric, and than listen to this again. You'll notice she's really done a lot to it making it much more bluesy. Something which may be fun as well if watching some performances with your kids and let them react. If you wish I could make you a list with performances more suited for young kids.

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time to the opening song at one of her recent concerts in Norway. Pretty amazing - while I've never heard the original, I'm already in love with Angelina's cover. There is just something even more magical about her live performances. In fact - even though you have previously reacted to her original song Million Miles - highly recommend that you also check out "Million Miles - Live at Kongsberg 2022". IMHO - her best yet. This is a CLASSIC EXAMPLE of the ability of our MEGA SUPERSTAR, Angelina Jordan; she takes a song I find very distasteful from all the vocalists that have performed it in the past, and turns it into a work of ART. I wonder if she even comprehends her abilities that seem to come naturally, like breathing does to us.
I was standing 2 rows behind Cris Walker that made this video. In start she says hello and asks everyone how we were. After singing she says that it is so good to finally be here having a concert. She was more amazing to hear live, than on the videos. Had an amazing concert/evening in Kongsberg. I do hope she will come back for more intimate concerts like this. Dhe communicated so well with the audience and we saw she enjoyed every moment of it.

If you haven’t heard her higher register, have you listened to A Million Years Ago that she sang at age 12? If not, you definitely should. One of my favorites. Watch the guitarist’s expressions also as he hears her probably for the first time.
Yeah she keeps getting better and better and better. She just be working very hard for that to happen. Listen to the original, which is it good and atmospheric, and than listen to this again. You'll notice she's really done a lot to it making it much more bluesy.
Something which may be fun as well if watching some performances with your kids and let them react. If you wish I could make you a list with performances more suited for young kids.

Well, I wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to see anyone, not even Angelina or David Gilmour, because I don"t have thousands of dollars! I do, though, appreciate people like you who do reaction videos of artist like them. Angelina is amazingly gifted and she takes her listeners to another place with her voice and sweet personality. Just as David does with his guitar and endearing personality, and his unique voice. Two others that sweep me away are Carlos Santana and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. All are kind, humble, and amazingly gifted.
You are one of very few reactors to pick up on the head voice.I'm guessing other than liking the song Angelina chose this to highlight the head voice improvement which also shows how hard she is working to improve.
