Angelina uses her voice to create a feeling of intimacy with the listener, in fact I can't think of another singer living or dead who has been able to do it as well as she does. It is no small feat. I think it is a combination of her considerable vocal skill, her level of confidence combined with her open, loving nature.

I think her grandma tapped into some type of Arabic voodoo type stuff and shared it with Angelina. Talked to some oracles about sirens and such. Otherwise she must just have a different ear than the rest of us and learned more from the greats than we would have, and still has worked tirelessly to translate it for us at that deeper level. Not sure which is less likely, but she does exist.

According to the guitarist these "home recordings" were usually done spontaneously in one or two takes, no cuts.
Angelina puts so much feeling into every song! I've never heard one of her 100s of covers where she doesn't do that, or focuses only on her beautiful technique. Where other singers stop, Angelina picks up, and it makes her song covers original as anything! Thanks, Sebs, for another great reaction. Great reaction, Sebs! I think the fact that we connect more to Angelina when she sings, to the point where most of us think that she performs songs better than the original, basically boils down to one simple fact, and that is that she just is a better singer. No magic involved, just pure skills and genius, coupled with an irresistible tonal quality.

I believe this might be where she stayed at for her America's Got Talent performances at 13. Obviously Las Vegas. In the limo was her uncle Michael Astar, her manager, her mother Sara Astar and little sister Juliette. Love this song by Sam Smith but Angelina's version hits your soul like most of her covers. Somehow Angelina has this uncanny ability to capture the essence of a song, the meaning, and then knowing how to make the right inflections at the right points with her mastery of her vocals to get you to listen to and feel the song. There is no one like her and she does it time and time again. That is why people who love real music love Angelina and why she has such a huge following on YT. Once she releases her first album with Republic Records her fame will spread like wildfire!

Angelina said they couldn't agree on a contract,,,

.....As for not agreeing on a contract, this is from Uncle Mike's interview with Music Norway: America Got Talent had always been interested in bringing Angelina to the show, but with their normal contract, artists are being locked into a label, management, and other things for many years. Astar says that it didn’t matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of question to give away that right.
“Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs.".....I take offense when you write that I: "try to disgrace or shame me like you tried before." If that's how you interpret having someone correct you, then you must have a very thin skin and a fragile ego. Grow a pair.....Bottom line is she was always a contestant (AGT guest performers never receive a golden buzzer) and she DID sign a contract. So, are you going to show some class and admit your mistake or are you just going to carry on being a dishonest schmuck?

What makes her covers better is that she's an empath and she connects to similarly good-hearted Listeners in a way no other artist can. You can think of it like a wavelength thing. She tunes right into our souls, but those whose soul is on, ahem, the other side of the coin, cough cough, can't connect with her because she's not for them at least in their current state of heart. But to those of us with whom she does connect, it is like mana to our soul, and it appears that she gets that feedback from us and it nourishes her as well. It's a two-way communication, and we truly are her angels as she is our angel. One of a kind in history for sure.

Why Angelina’s uncovers are better than the originals? Somtimes it is just that ridiculously rich voice in combination with being a much better singer than most «stars». This you can hear when she does «Easy on Me» by Adele, «Stay» by Rihanna or «Nothing Breaks Like a Heart» by Miley Cyrus. But you can’t really outsing Sam Smith in a technical sense, so this is one of those where it is the ridiculously rich voice and the emotional intelligence behind it… She sings to your soul, man!
Great, thanks! Aside from her exceptional vocal ability I think the fact that she is not constrained by "industry standards" has a lot to do with her covers being excellent. Also, she seems to have an innate musicality that others simply lack.
When Elvis Presley first started his singing career, someone asked him in an interview, "Elvis, who would you say you sound like?" To which Elvis replied, "I don't sound like nobody." I think we could say that about Angelina as well. Like Elvis, she is totally unique but, enigmatically, she is still called "the girl with a 1000 voices." But I don't think that means she has an Amy Winehouse voice one day, an Adele voice the next, and a Whitney voice the next, etc. I simply think she has an innate, unique and, yes, uncanny ability to shape and adapt her voice to whatever song, genre, mood, emotion, expressiveness, situation, etc., that she wishes to, instantaneously and with ease, like warm butter on toast.

You will see her occasionally in other videos, such as "Valerie" & "Suspicious Minds." The pretty blonde lady is her mother Sara Astar. The man is Angelina's uncle & manager, Michael Astar (Sara's brother). Off camera doing the filming and, unfortunately, rarely seen is her beloved maternal grandmother Meri Zamani, Iranian by birth & was a child prodigy herself, famous in the Middle East for her poetry and impressionistic art. She's the one who was mainly instrumental in introducing Angelina to jazz & blues music from the time she was baby. Angelina calls her mom her "Shield" (original song); she calls Juliette "the love of my life" in her original song "What Is Life"; and she and grandma Meri are as close to each other as two welded steel beams!

Yes. I wanted to add something. One person commented on her ‘less is more’ instrumentals and how wonderful they are. I couldn’t agree more. In fact, I’m a singer/songwriter myself and though I am eons older than her, she teaches me new things every time I hear her. Though it is a testament to her vocal prowess she can carry a song with the bare minimum behind her, I think I’m going to go in the same direction on my next project. The spareness and excellence of the instruments she does use make the song and lyrics come alive.
Great reaction, yes, Angelina really feels the song, really good guitar by Ivan Mandez. The video slightly detracts from the story of the song, it shows the family (Grandma Mery, Sara, Michael and sister Juliette) on one of their trips to Vegas. I would like to think that Angelina and Sam could collaborate on a song together in the near future...
Angelina is on her way to the top. At 12, or 13, AJ signed with Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith). All 3 of Stargate's owners have been covered by Angelina, and all three have got to be blown away by her interpretation of their work, and that is the reason they pursued, and signed this genius storytelling being.

Well, I love her too. She’s a phenom. A musical treasure. I continue to be so impressed with her uncanny ability to sense that intangible aura within every song she sings so that it becomes her own and moves us. She’s like the Van Gogh, Klimt, or Renoir of vocal music: she colors outside the lines and creates a NEW masterpiece in the process! Very cool!
