well, this kind of chords are used a lot in Brazil too since the 50s. If a brazilian hear you playing, he'll say that it seems like, as we call here, MPB genre (Brazilian Popular Music) but we use to put more dissonant chords between these progressions and use all kind of mix rhythms. Artists like Djavan, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil and Lenine are examples of this use of chords. I recommend for everyone who love this kind of progression to hear songs like "Samurai" (Djavan), "Você E Linda" (Caetano Veloso), and other songs and enjoy it. Great video man!

@@joaodpaulatejando.3372 boa lembrança! O grande Toninho Horta tbem!!

This video would be 100 times easier to understand if there was a diagram on the screen showing the intervals of each voicing. I strongly suggest you use the page Oolimo, clicking the lab thing, setting on the light mode and clicking the "notes" button. You click the notes and the page says every chord that those intervals form as if each note were the root. Pretty cool stuff and it's free

This was amazing! I've been struggling for a while to understand if there's more to 'neo-soul / lofi' than 'jazz guitar chords on a beat'. Of course the chord progressions are a bit different in each. But for example, 'neo-soul chord melody' is pretty much the same thing as jazz chord melody (And Ted Greene is my favourite neo-soul player ever :) ). However, when there's a beat, the used chord shapes (at least here) are a bit different than in jazz, because in jazz it's the bass which is often taking the lower frequencies so one tends to play more on the higher strings. So thank you for opening my mind to the characteristics that make up this chill world of sound that people call neo-soul / lofi! :)

AMAZING VIDEO! These chords are also used in alot of Japanese Music (even traditional forms) I got into it through anime but the cadence and chord progressions of Japanese music fascinated me and it blends so well with stuff like Synth pop, Jazz and Funk Rock.
I think the Japanese language lends itself quite beautifully to these Chords and chord progressions and I have a hunch that the dissonance you find typically in Japanese music may not be dissonant to Japanese people (possibly because it's the music they have heard everyday or due to the natural cadence and diction of the Japanese language or more likely I'm talking out of my ass)
