Not calling Chet a rookie kind of shows your bias towards one player and severely weakens your argument. Chet literally had a serious injury that took almost a year to recover from. If anything Wemby can into this year with the slight advantage given it takes time to return to form from the kind of injury Chet had. Not to mention the impact it likely had on his stamina. Chet certainly is a rookie. The only thing he gained over Wemby was the opportunity to sit on the bench for year and diagnose the way the game needed to be played once he got back into the lineup. On the other hand, W is in a losing team with a failing PG experiment, he is the first option in a team that at time stop playing together and turn the ball over way too frequently. Pop is not coaching him at the moment and it shows. His progression is kinda of stagnant at the moment, but we know for a fact that he is far from delivering what he truly can. This means that in terms of ceiling, in his current role, we can expect a clear progression along the season. It will be interesting to follow the situation and how it develops. I favour W for the ROY as he seems more likely to put up big numbers night after night. At an equivalent role in an equivalent team that would perhaps go for Chet as he seems much more mature than W but who knows :) Edit: I would pay a lot of attention to Coulibaly. I feel like Ausar's perimeter shooting is just nerves or part of being a rookie or maybe just a funk to start his career. His perimeter shot, while it definitely was never his strongest suit, seemed much better and he seemed more comfortable taking 3s before he went pro. His body control when attacking the rim is already, imo the best on the Pistons and he FLOATS I swear I am afraid he's gonna bang his head on the rim sometimes and he's only 6' 6" - if he can develop his offense and at least get his long range shot to the point where people won't just leave him open behind the 3 dude can be a borderline generational talent given that he's already on par with any elite defenders and rebounders. Fun fact about Asuar, only 5 other guys have ever got 40 rebs and 10 blocks in their first 4 games, Bill Walton, Hakeem, Shaq, Mutombo and David Robinson -that's crazy af company for a 6' 6" SF lol - it's so awesome seeing the NBA continuing to attract new and amazing talent who don't just look like stars of old and can make a mark on the game in their own way. He also set another stat record for the first 12 games that was the first time it happened since 1978 but I don't remember the numbers, but it was all 5 major stats.
50/40/90 splits used to be automatic mvp seasons and people are disrespecting Chet because he doesnt fit the Wemby is GOD narrative. Wemby's the #1 option for his team and is barely outscoring Chet. They are both good but Wemby has more years as a pro, and Chet's coming off a major injury. It's amazing how biased the media is not wanting their narrative disruptive.
1000000% correct, Wemby is good but the media consistently portray him to be the best thing to touch a basketball court and the wemb-sheep are mindlessly eating it all up, it’s actually hilarious
Best rookie race since the 1994-95 season when Jason Kidd and Grant Hill were named co-winners of ROY. (I told y'all Kidd would have the better career 😂)
For as bad as scoot has looked this season, I still think he’ll go No. 2 in a redraft when it’s all said and done. Glad you’re not writing him off either. You the goat.
Im down for either chet or wemby both of them look like unicorns doing stuff no one there height really has before and they both are putting up monster numbers for there age
If Wemby had a true damn PG running the offense and facilitating properly, Wemby would be in line for ROY, DPOY, and MVP. But he’s doing all this off instinct and teammates just doing whatever.
Chet is what the sheeple thought Wemby would be. Chet is hitting at 50/40/90, hitting insane buzzer beaters and better at both ends. If Wemby was white and 7'1, literally no one would care about him.n if Chet was black, people would recognize he is the best prospect since Lebron.
I mean I wouldn’t go that far, but you absolutely have a point. If San Antonio would stop with this PG Sochan bs and just start Tre Jones, Wemby wouldn’t have to create all his shots.
You guys make excuses for Wemby. His shot selection & coaching is the reason why his shooting percentages are so low. I think Chets numbers would look a lot better than Wemby's if he was on the Spurs. We also forget that Chet is on the second youngest team in the league.
HOW do you have so much time to watch all these rookie highlights and games? This is some amazingly in-depth analysis. You clearly understand rookie metrics and value very well. You mentioned this rookie class is stronger than other classes, and while your video makes these players look INSANELY good, I'm curious how the metrics support your claim. Are these rookies indeed more impactful in terms of (win shares? pts? stocks?) than previous rookie classes? If so, how much better are they? The league is getting YOUNG. Or maybe it's just that the Warriors look super old lol
The league average TS (True Shooting percentage) is 57.1% Between Wemby and Chet One guy here is averaging 19.4 points with 57% TS. The other guy is averaging 17.1 point with 69% TS. Can you guess which one is Chet and which one is Wemby? By the way, I know they are in different team environment so a naive comparison is not fair. However, one of them is significantly underrated.
We’re already second in the west and have 4 draft picks next season which 2 of them are 1-4 unprotected. What people fail to realize Chet will be the better play because he has a good supporting cast. Everyone on the Thunder can play make and shoot we’re only going to get better.
@@davidpark2509 Good points. I thought about them too: - For me ROY is the player who contributes most to winning, not the best prospect. So far that's Chet by a mile. The way he's held up defensively at the 5 is remarkable. This provides an awesome spacing boost, as well as pace in transition. The kid's top 10 in ENTIRE NBA in TS%, eFG%, EPM, Box Plus/Minus, Blocks, Win Shares, and WS/48. It's early for some stats to be predictive, but I give them a bit more weight because the theory of it holds up so well. - Wemby has a much more difficult situation, and the peak skills look unbelievable. It's a bit unfair because if San Antonio was dying to win now, they probably play Wemby more at the 5. Still, we should value contributing on a really good team. Many players can put up numbers on a bad team but struggle to lift a good one. Chet's doing that. - I agree if you doc him for being a redshirt, that's a different story. Wemby's younger, and has more tools and skills. Probably GMs would rather have Wemby as a prospect, but what Chet's doing is exceptional.
Chet just seems more polished right now, no shade at wemby but Chet clears him in basically every statistical category and is worlds more efficient while averaging like half his turnovers. I feel like at a certain point with roty we just reward counting stats without caring remotely about efficiency, team success or turnovers, however I feel like this is a rare case that we should be considering that given Chet already is impacting winning, being a low mistake high efficiency player while being our best defender. But I guess since wemby averages a significantly less efficient 19 to Chet’s 16 that by itself makes him roty. That argument makes 0 sense to me. Pretty easy choice for me.
Chet is a bit more polished but we have to take in fact that chet is in a unfair position compared to wemby but. Im not taking it away from chet because you have to be good but what im saying is is wemby was in chets postion hed peformm better
If you’re going to take into consideration efficiency then you have to take into consideration the team Chet is playing on. It’s a well oiled machine where Chet is a third option. Two all stars and one of the best PG in the league. Wemby is the youngest roster in the league & league history. What Wemby is doing is insane without a real team.
@@juliannewman8720 pretty sure okc actually still has the youngest roster in the league Regardless of that I don’t think Chet’s 3pt efficiency would tank to wemby’s % if he added a couple more attempts to his shot diet, and he would still be a better passer and more efficient scorer. It shouldn’t be held against Chet that he has a good roster, if anything it should speak volumes that a team that was decent without him has transformed into a fringe contender when the only offseason acquisition they made was essentially him and Cason Wallace (who should also be all rookie team). You play with who you play with and Chet has clearly elevated the team he’s on into a new level they wouldn’t be at without him, in wembys case SA might win the same number of games as last year and no one would be shocked. They’re defense is still bad in addition, I haven’t been too nit picky but for me Chet very easily clears as a defender right now even if wemby has more potential on that end, and Chet doesn’t have the luxury of having a quality defensive 5 alongside him like Zach collins yet still the defense is significantly better on OKC. I really don’t get how wemby clears the only argument is his team being shitty but that isn’t a valid argument at all to me, because okc isn’t some finals contender before Chet shows up and he’s clearly elevated that entire roster. Wemby would still be averaging 4 turnovers on shitty efficiency even if he was on okc I promise you that, he has a poor shot selection right now and he’s still very prone to turnovers because it’s just difficult to pass and handle at that height the amount wemby and Chet are asked to do. And even still Chet averages half the turnovers because he’s just flat out significantly better on offense right now, he doesn’t dribble into traffic like wemby or put himself in shitty situations to average 3 turnovers. Like I genuinely don’t see the argument for wemby in any way, he’s literally worse in every single statistical category damn near and apparently that all gets excused because “team shitty”. Like cmon man let’s get real here, if this were any other award Chet would be a runaway favorite over wemby, he shouldn’t get bailed out because his team is worse that’s out of both their control and Chet is thriving statistically with talent around him, and established himself as our 2nd best player in literally 13 games. I don’t think wemby would be a highly efficient low tunrover 2nd option on any contender right now, he’d still be inefficient and have a .5 assist to turnover ratio. Potential≠better
ROY race is actually a little bit subjective, regarding the team in which you are playing and his overall maturity it will affect a lot your play and ratios. What is sure is that either Wemby or Chet has a really huge maturity. Chet has better ratio for the moment for sure, see what will be in 20-40 games...and at the end, it will depend also about team ranking; OKC is looking to enter into play in team...SA...well...no
This is straight facts. Chet isn't even averaging more points and rebounds than Wemby right now. And if he did, both would have to be a solid 2 points higher for them to even consider Chet winning ROTY. As long as it's a close race, Wemby will win (as he already statistically is).
Chet has the advantage with the better team but he's also way more efficient. Take away the blocks wemby has, he's just over hyped. He's not in the situation to be the best he can be while Chet is. I'm giving my vote to chet easily as of this moment.
Chet my boy, no disrespect to Wemby, I feel like could be the battle of great and slightly greater if things play out. Truthfully it could go either way, but I'm rocking with Chet Definitely best of luck for Wemby, my fav team ain't even in the west so I got no ill feelings for him or the spurs.
Chet should be winning Roy but that doesn't mean wemby is a bust. If wemby was on the thunder with the amount of attention Shai gets, wemby would be playing on a Chet level
The NBA is to blame for the Pistons lack of progress . The Lottery is a complete joke, if the worst team in the league is unable to select the best players by default that team will remain in the cellar. It makes zero sense, they missed out on 2 generational centers in the last 2 drafts because they failed in the lottery. SMH
You only feel that way because the last few drafts have been fantastic if they had the 2013 or 2006 pick it wouldn't have made any difference . They missed out on people like Halliburton Jalen Williams Tyrese Maxey Sharp and Bane who they could have traded at for or picked if we didn't have the lottery we would have the 2012 Bobcats every season teams would have seasons where they have single-digit wins people would have a competition who could be the worst Lottery prevents it to get to that level I hope I made sense
Ausar is fun to watch, but I highly doubt he'll be RotY. 1st Rookie team, sure. I even doubt Holmgren has a chance except maybe if he could be consistent with his defense and 50 40 90. Wembanyama just have too much media buzz and narrative.
Chet is clearly a better player than wimby right now. Wimby gonna be great but he has not lived up to the hype yet. With the exception of block’s palo and Jalen Williams last year had better numbers overall. Listing to people on RUclips Chet size gets him pushed around but wimby size he hold his ground.
Y'all see Chet last night's game vs Warriors? Sick ass shot to force OT!
Wonder if he’s still leaning wemby after this
Nope lmao he tweeted it@@AlbassaWane
Best rookie race since the 1994-95 season when Jason Kidd and Grant Hill were named co-winners of ROY. (I told y'all Kidd would have the better career 😂)
So glad you told me that, dude. Nice heads up =)
For as bad as scoot has looked this season, I still think he’ll go No. 2 in a redraft when it’s all said and done. Glad you’re not writing him off either. You the goat.
I need an updated Rookie Watch, so many rookies are finding their strides…
Jordan hawkins is underrated
Chet averaging 50 40 90 is crazy ROTY by a mile!!
The league average TS (True Shooting percentage) is 57.1%
Between Wemby and Chet
One guy here is averaging 19.4 points with 57% TS.
The other guy is averaging 17.1 point with 69% TS.
Can you guess which one is Chet and which one is Wemby?
By the way, I know they are in different team environment so a naive comparison is not fair. However, one of them is significantly underrated.
Keyonte is the guy, he’ll make his way into Roy by allstar break.
"The type of player you want to run multiples of" applied to a wing shooting 15% from 3 in the modern NBA is a fun idea.
We’re already second in the west and have 4 draft picks next season which 2 of them are 1-4 unprotected. What people fail to realize Chet will be the better play because he has a good supporting cast. Everyone on the Thunder can play make and shoot we’re only going to get better.
For me it's Chet based on efficiency at center, but super fun
What about him playing a role with established vets guiding him not to mention a redshirt rookie
@@davidpark2509 Good points. I thought about them too:
- For me ROY is the player who contributes most to winning, not the best prospect.
Chet is the more complete player
@@juliannewman8720 pretty sure okc actually still has the youngest roster in the league
Regardless of that I don’t think Chet’s 3pt efficiency would tank to wemby’s % if he added a couple more attempts to his shot diet, and he would still be a better passer and more efficient scorer.
Chet is in the driver seat.
Thompson twins content W
People have been sleeping on the Thompson Twins. They should have been second and third picks in the draft.
ROY race is actually a little bit subjective, regarding the team in which you are playing and his overall maturity it will affect a lot your play and ratios. What is sure is that either Wemby or Chet has a really huge maturity. Chet has better ratio for the moment for sure, see what will be in 20-40 games...and at the end, it will depend also about team ranking; OKC is looking to enter into play in team...SA...well...no
I know efg% doesnt win awards but my boy cason needs more love on 20+ minutes contributing to wins in the clutch.
Keyonte has Killian Hayes stats
Lets be fr though unless if Chets clearly better Wemby is winning
This is straight facts. Chet isn't even averaging more points and rebounds than Wemby right now. And if he did, both would have to be a solid 2 points higher for them to even consider Chet winning ROTY. As long as it's a close race, Wemby will win (as he already statistically is).
Bro Chet just had 36 and a buzzer beating three to send it to OT😭😭
Wemby had 38 already. Wemby also topped Chet for most blocks in a single game. Leading league in blocks as well. They’re both doing really well.
Wemby empty stats @@juliannewman8720
Chet has the advantage with the better team but he's also way more efficient. Take away the blocks wemby has, he's just over hyped. He's not in the situation to be the best he can be while Chet is. I'm giving my vote to chet easily as of this moment.
Chet my boy, no disrespect to Wemby, I feel like could be the battle of great and slightly greater if things play out. Truthfully it could go either way, but I'm rocking with Chet
Definitely best of luck for Wemby, my fav team ain't even in the west so I got no ill feelings for him or the spurs.
Feel like it's a uphill battle for Chet to win it. They have anointed Wemby that guy already
He is the face of the league
Keyonte George is going to make his way into this conversation
Wemby is Dollar Tree Holmgren.
People arguing about Chet not being a rookie when Wemby had 1 full professional season under his belt while Chet sat out with an injury 😂
goat
No contest the Thunder got the real unicorn.
Let Ausur play Center
Whose Wemby?
Coulibaly is like that
Damn you should of made this today 😭
A good look after 13 games? Chasing it
i’d love to see Sasha Vezenkov ball out and win roty lol
D Live
Tyson Chandler 2.0 🔥
B miller just 29 too
Chet should be winning Roy but that doesn't mean wemby is a bust.
Chet gots this
Asuar might not get Roy but might get dpoy
Since when Chet drafted in 2022 is a rookie?
This roty really isn’t as interesting as a lot of the races
Ausar is fun to watch, but I highly doubt he'll be RotY. 1st Rookie team, sure. I even doubt Holmgren has a chance except maybe if he could be consistent with his defense and 50 40 90. Wembanyama just have too much media buzz and narrative.
Ausar
chet or lively
Chet is clearly a better player than wimby right now. Wimby gonna be great but he has not lived up to the hype yet. With the exception of block’s palo and Jalen Williams last year had better numbers overall. Listing to people on RUclips Chet size gets him pushed around but wimby size he hold his ground. Highlights make wimby seem tier 1 but watching his games you see the weakness but you see if he stays healthy he gonna be tier 1.
GONE AHEAD AND REDO THIS LOL
Chet is winning. Whoever disagrees are haters🔥⚡️
Wemby sweeps. Being a star is simply more important than being a great fourth option.
@@kyleholtzen6739chets stats are better right now but he is much older
@@Titjuggler408Age doesn’t have anything to do with it. Wemby been playing pro ball longer than Chet has. With that being said, Chet is in the 50/40/90 club as a center and he takes less shots than Wemby. Don’t get me wrong, I like Wemby but I like Chet this year.
Chet being 2 years older with a year of NBA coaching has an advantage. But it is still a long season. Wemby will improve with a few more months of coaching.
@@RMASUPERFLY Wemby been playing pro ball almost all his life😂. Yes, it’s a difference in the NBA but Chet did not play last year due to injury so therefore, he doesn’t have a leg up on Wemby. Wemby been playing conservatively whereas, Chet is coming off an injury while trying to find his mold into the NBA. Both are young, I see more potential in Wemby but if Wemby missed his entire first year in the NBA, it would affect him. Thats a year of growth you can’t make because of injury.
how is your name goanna be hoop intellect and not even put the t in 'Roty' lol
When you.said Victor leads over Chet you LOST ALL credibility. Wemby is sloppy, weak percentages yet double touches as Chet, high turn over, ball hog and he is not helping his team win. Chet is LEAGUES better. Anyone denying this is a 🤡 or has serious issues.
First
Chet is vast rookie wemby is soft
Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven ❤Psalm 23:4
CHET IS BETTER. IDC
