    some other kcal density ideas. nuts are very calorically dense. also, maybe consider norweigan crispbread from TJs back in the us. One slice 130kcal iirc. Goes good with cream cheese or any cheese (also calorically dense), which get's topped nicely with some of those oily fish your nutritional coach likes. Not sure if any of this will be as cheap per kcal as kfc but maybe just ideas.

    It’s incredible you’re hitting PB’s on your bike as well when you’ve been focusing on your swimming. Do you think you’re swimming fitness is transferring onto the bike or are you doing something special on the bike training? More outdoor riding instead of the trainer perhaps?

    You should look at the Strongman diets - Stan Efferding is the main nutritionist to the top guys and has heaps of good content on how to get quality, convenient, high calorie meals for cheap. Meal prepping something like his monster mash would serve you well, and it would be even cheaper than KFC. You would be surprised how much better you can feel when you nail it at the higher cals.

      His swimming mileage IS absolutly wild.

    • @archmdz
      @archmdz  11 месяцев назад +3

      It's not wild -- in a previous Aus Method episode on "Super Saturdays", we'd ride 4 hours Z2 (~3200cal burned if riding 220w), 50-60min run off the bike with intensity (~1000cal burned) then a very hard 5km open water swim with 4km of it threshold or above (~1500cal). That's almost 6000 calories burned in addition to the 3000-3500 I'll burn just by being alive for the day. Other days on camp probably fluctuate between 2500-4000 calories burned so if I don't eat 7000 calories every day when training that much I will slowly start losing weight and the training volume/intensity becomes unsustainable. I'm not an outlier either. Top pros are all eating this much.
      I wouldn't say I've struggled with weight but I definitely had no idea how much energy was required to do the training I was trying to do, so I dealt with injuries and overtraining more often than not when I tried to train really hard.

    • @archmdz
      @archmdz  11 месяцев назад +2

      Inconsistently consistently. And by that I mean I will have blocks where I hit the gym 1-2x a week for several weeks in a row, then 0 gym for several weeks. Depends on training volume and time of year.

  • @richardmiddleton7770
    @richardmiddleton7770 10 месяцев назад

    FWIW, yes, eating adequate calories is important for recovery, but there is a point of diminishing returns where the stress on the body from excessive training and eating (especially junk food), takes it's toll and you'll burn out hard!
