Well done Ari. Very happy for you. Stay focused. Think long term and improvement in small increments. A lot of success is in the grind, even for the naturals. Fool's gold in comparing to others. You're not them and they aren't you. Simply use other's performance as a benchmark about where you are.
@@GregHarper_ 😂. Now that I’ve officially signed you, I’m 100% in your corner for Oceanside 💪🏼! You’ll be giving Ari the neck slice on the first out and back on the run course!
Fantastic video Ari. I agree that you have a lot to be proud of with that result. I was watching from Canada and was very excited to see your run pedigree show through with a 1:10. Too bad about the swimming mishap, but next time you will be more focused on that aspect. Looking forward to following the improvement in 2025.
Respect Ari, great performance. I’ve been following you since you hooked up with Lionel. Hard work pays off. Looking forward to final ‘aussie project” You’ve got this!!
Great video Ari. I know you were initially quite disappointed after Taupo but I’m glad you are looking at the positives. It shows your potential against the top pros. Keep grinding and stacking those bricks. Can’t wait to see what 2025 (and beyond) has in store for you. 😊 Oh, and I hope you come back to Australia soon. Ironman Cairns perhaps? 😎
I need to take a page from you when I do my race recaps & videos. Breaking it up into bite-sized chunks like this & tackling it bit by bit, rather than treating it all as one continuous reel, must feel so much more manageable and less intimidating. Does it help you get content out more consistently?
It would be great if you can elaborate more on the swimming. Where you stand after three years regarding times in a pool. Are you able to swim 2:30 200m?
1:06 100m and 2:26 200m in LCM in Feb of ‘24. That was halfway through the “Australian Method” camp and was probably the best swim form I was in las year. I wasnt too far from that fitness at Taupo, and I believe I should have been able to get to the first buoy in the main group, but tactically made it very hard on myself.
I’m rooting for you Ari. I’m wondering though, why does it help in the swim to be in the wake of the top guys? I understand in the bike and run would help to stay in the wind break, but why would it help swimming?
Same reason! While in cycling, there is a low-pressure air pocket behind the leading rider that the following riders can take advantage of, in swimming it's more of a current created by the leader but same general idea of requiring far less effort to follow at the same speed. Swim draft is far more effective than run draft. Similar in effectiveness to cycling draft.
@ Thanks for the explanation. My thinking was that when swimming water would have to be pushed backwards with each stroke which would work in the opposite direction to current produced by moving forwards. That would then be different to cycling or running where the momentum is generated from ground contact. There must be something about the shape of the currents that means it doesn’t cancel out.
I don't understand why you do not have a swim strategy as a pro triathlete. Puzzling after all your swim training in Aussie. Can you explain why this happened with a coach and with years of training? I want to learn from your thoughts. Very excellent result considering.
My “swim strategy” has always been to find feet/hips and stay on them. In Aus this is what we worked on and in a North American race it can be quite easy - you end up in a swim group without really trying. At a WC, the margins are incredibly slim. I wouldve easily gotten away with zigzagging from one group to another in a NA race, but now after failing I’m inclined to think that the best strategy (and from what I gather, everyone else’s strategy) is to swim a straight line to the first buoy, and only then worry about drafting. So in my next race (Oceanside), that is what I’ll do, and then we’ll see if I end up further up the field than usual.
Here before Ari’s dad
No way Asian. Love your videos!
Ari barely calls his parents anymore. :( So I'm a little late to watch his amazing videos. Love, Ari's dad.
45s slower run than Jason West? Incredible performance and probably a great experience :).
Your analysis was on point: Your consistency and professionalism made the difference. Keep up the good work!

Are those sheeps ? 😂 Ari, congrats on your excellent race result! 😅👍
Watching most triathletes run, it seems they kind of drag their legs. Ari, you run more like a true runner.
1:50 were is your running belt from?
Nerd Belt!!!!!
PLEASE do a full Ironman in 2025!!! You could be the next Tomas Rodriguez.
Better contact my local chicken farm! 2:25 off the bike incoming
