Snowy owl’s story: from eggs to big chicks
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 янв 2023
- Snowy owls are an iconic species of the Arctic. Animal world of the Arctic. Birds of prey. Snowy owl on the nest, parenting behavior, animal sounds. Snowy owl (named Kiki) nest. She nested in a warm year for the Arctic with a high number of lemmings in the tundra. Kiki started laying eggs later than other owls nesting in the area by almost ten days. Therefore, only 5 eggs were in her nest from which five offspring hatched. Reproduction requires great effort from parents. Her partner does a good job and brings enough food. The age difference between the chicks was about 8 days. Different ages of owlets require different feeding. It's amazing how moms handle it - they know exactly who they want to feed at the moment. Kiki clearly demonstrates this in the video at 10:40. Owls grow very fast. It took only about three weeks (from July 5 to July 28 ) as eggs and white lumps turned into large owlets (14:15).

I'm saying birds are definitely fascinating to see. The behaviors are just something. And this bird is gorgeous. Vocals are crazy. Always alert. Babies have such long necks. Always hungry. Mom is like woah what did we do??? Lol. Kids galore. ❤️
Thanks for your detailed comments!
Thanks for precious records !!!!
thanks, glad you liked it
One owlet after the other and when finished with the last one it starts all over with the 1st one again. Extraordinary Mom and Dad non-stop dedication and vigilance. Amazing !

Thank you for watching the video on the channel. Thanks for the comments!
I had no clue that there is such an age difference between siblings. Do any of tHa older siblings peck their younger siblings like Eaglets do? These Owls & Owlets are extremely BeAuTiFuL and tHa parents are amazingly attentive to their young! Thank You for sharing this amazing video!
Thanks for the comment! On my channel there are many videos about the families of these amazing creatures. Look at least this, where the difference in the age of the siblings is even greater

I already subscribed! That Mama Snowy Owl is tHa one being vocal, or is it tHa owlets? I checked out tHa video you linked. That's unbelievable that there is 18 days between siblings! (Nearly 3 weeks)! Extraordinary parenting skills!💞
Do all siblings get along? Or is there sibling rivalry (bonking/establishing pecking order) like we witness in Eaglets? I ask since Snowy Owls are still Raptors!
Thanks for sharing
The mother owl looked at one point that she had two broods. Two bigger, older owlets and three small white ones. Mom was very nurturing to them all. Owlets in general are benign to their siblings…they don’t peck and tend to hog being fed the way eaglets do.
Beautiful family and your video friend. Perfect job. I enjoyed watching.

Очень заботливая мать, всех обделила едой, никого не забыла, обычно у птиц дети сами должны быть активны, иначе останутся без еды.

I wonder if that egg on the side of the nest wasn’t viable or was bad?
Thanks for the question! This is the egg of the Common Eider that nests under the protection of Snowy Owls. You can watch some of these videos on my channel ruclips.net/video/1-rp9e_a-G4/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/2iwThbdEeuI/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/kZ1VURJa6UE/видео.html

Is there water for them?
Thanks for the question! The mother feeds the chicks soft food. Adults fly to the watering place periodically. On warm days you can see this ruclips.net/video/Peb40whrAxg/видео.html

11:20......Three siblings are missing. Do you know why?
11:20 -These are three younger owlets in the nest, the older two stay in the territory outside the nest and not in the frame
The first born is always the most aggressive and greedy. Pity the last to hatch
Thank you for your comment! But with enough food, all owlets grow normally and the difference in size quickly disappears. Watch other videos on my channel @snowyflyer - for example this is ruclips.net/video/B5ZZwFPAfKU/видео.html
