You should do it. I'm sure you won't regret it. And the more you listen to it (they did like 10 albums or so) the more hooked you get. Liz got a very special talent or ability when singing. Lots of her lyrics doesn't even make sense - to us at least - but to her it's more about sound. To make her vocal instrument match Guthrie's guitar sound. See some live videos and you know my point :) The comparison the Siouxsie is quite good. As well with Pink Industry or Pink Military.
Thanks again my friend. Appreciated a lot! And yeah, this one is so pop-ish. Not something they do much but when they do it turns out pretty nice indeed. Strong, simple and cool with Kim on vocal. Great for acoustic too actually. Thanks again!
@disnukka79 - Thanks my friend. It quite funny, in the beginning I didn't like this one but it has grown on me and playing it on acoustic feels fantastic. So straightforwarded. Thanks!
I don't know this song from just reading the name of it but it sounds kinda familiar. Maybe I need to hear the lyrics to remember where it's from. Your playing was great and it looks like you were having lots of fun playing it.
Thanks a lot my friend! Appreciate the words indeed :) It is a very cool song to play and really works well with acoustic. Try it out and if you have any questions or anything, just ask :) Thanks again buddy!
I think bands like Pink Industry or Pink Military are maybe even closer to CT due to the fact that they too was active in the 80's. I'll check out Bloom very soon :)
Thank you again my friend. I think it's all about practicing and develop the ear - with some guidance - to know what to listen for or after. But again that depends on the sole things YOU hear when listening to SY songs :)
No problem at all - only glad if I can be of any help :) Feel free to ask anytime! And if you find ways that work better than the stuff I do then please let me know :) In some of my videos you'll find me doing some intro stuff from Thurston's Psychic Hearts actually. I'm not sure I'll go deeper into either Thurston's or Lee's solo stuff but then again - who knows, right? :) My plan after SY is to either do Cocteau Twins or Mogwai - both acoustic of course :)
The part you refer to can actually be heard in the song - you can hear one guitar (Thurston + look at videos) that he plays part one and two and then goes into grip-style while in part three and four while the other guitar (Lee) is doing something like the chords I play. Not certain they are right cause I haven't found any video showing Lee's playing. Hope it helps you out? :) And cool you got this covered man, congrats!
I must admit - on youtube is many cover makers who know their instruments, but you seem actually to "live" the song. I just feel that your way of playing really fits the songs nature. Anyway, would you do me a favor a send me the "tabs of the chords"? I think I can figure out the way to play them, but I cant figure out how to "place the fingers".. I have even downloaded the video and watched it in slo-mo to get the chords, but unsuccesfully.
Thanks a lot - appreciated indeed! I guess I just try to express how I feel or how it feels to undergo the songs of SY - not really interested in doing it 'right' but more trying to get to the core of how I feel a certain song should sound if I should do it back to them (SY). Sometimes it works and sometimes it gets a bit.. well.. weird or messy haha. But thanks a lot! I do not have any chords but if I ever get some time by my hands I will try to tab down how I play this :)
Hah, I'm ready! Even though it seems like we got ourselves some sort of distination-problem or finding the right spot for rehearsels :) But I got million different tunings and only a few guitars as it is right now but hey, we'll manage :) Skype or anything like that - recording, sending and overdubbing, stuff like that - could be the solution. At least it would be fun :) BTW, go to soundcloud, look up Muscle Angel and listen. A 45 min track in 5 pieces by me and a friend. Best, Brian
Fucking awesome acoustic cover!! Please excuse my language, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. I look foward to playing it myself. You do great work my friend.
@nvanliforp hey,if you dig cocteau twins, you should check out the band Beach House from Baltimore, they make some pretty sweet tunes, man. You can youtube the songs "myth", "wild", or "troublemaker", or just give the album "Bloom" (definitely one of the best albums from 2012) a good listen, you may like it ;)
Do you have a band already? Any interest in starting a heavily influenced Sonic Youth band? Of course there would be some covers thrown in. Travelling europe would be awesome! I'd be willing to work through skype temporarily. ;) Best, Andrew
It' nothing special really - just a bit of Patti Smith Math Scratch and Psychic Hearts and other but only small parts due to the fact that they're in the same tuning. I too love his solo work as long as one can hold the SY and Thurston projects apart even though it can be hard at times. You need to check out Cocteau Twins. Epic. Nothing like it. Seriously. Nothing. Shoegaze, dreampop + Liz Fraser = ! Search for "She Will Destroy You" or "Cherry Colored Funk" on youtube and turn it up! :)
Thanks a lot - appreciated! I actually just sought out for a useful tuning and from there I just practiced. It’s not difficult or especially hard if you just give it some time :)
love your interpretation of this song. watching you play this made reena my favourite song by SY so far :)
Great job man, its hard to come by good guitar covers of SY, such sweet dissonance.
Man your playing is very cool. And the chords in this song I love them
One of the best songs ever
I do agreee on that :)

This is one of my favorites. Excellent work. I think it sounds like the Beatles.
Really great!
+siltysand Thanks a lot!

@68redneck67 - Thanks again, appreciated! - not a favourite here as well but it's so nice for acoustic. Had to do it :) Thanks again!

I too think this one really fits acoustic guitar so well.
Thanks again!
I'm about to move to wherever you are to start a band with you! Lol
@REGRitsuka - Thanks a lot. Appreciated :)

@MrBephantol - Thanks!
really fucking awesome
Thanks a lot! :)
Thanks a lot my friend - appreciated! Agreed on the dissonance part :) That's the real drug isn't it? :)
@ZRN959 . Uh huh! Agree!
@REGRitsuka - Again, thank you very much :) you have a soulmate.

@nvanliforp yeah man, in my opinion Bloom is their best album to date :)
Alright, I'll get right on it then :)
And yes, Sigur R. is out of this world, really.
very nice :)
Thank you!

@aconseporlamuerte - When you put it that way then I won't disagree :) Thanks a lot, appreciated!
Haha, in that case you just need to book a flight to Copenhagen, Denmark my friend :)
Not my favourite song, but you really nailed it down
I really wanna learn how to play this song, what chords are you using for this song awesome cover by the way
Jaja Genial
@nvanliforp you wont regret it ;) PS, Sigur Rós is indeed awesome
Do you have a band already? Any interest in starting a heavily influenced Sonic Youth band? Of course there would be some covers thrown in. Travelling europe would be awesome! I'd be willing to work through skype temporarily. ;)

The two same notes on the top two strings sounds cool.. Where did you learn how to play it? Or what the tuning was?
Thanks a lot - appreciated!
I actually just sought out for a useful tuning and from there I just practiced. It’s not difficult or especially hard if you just give it some time :)
@@TheSonicYouthAcousticProject ok..so, you don't specifically know the tuning or the chord shapes....ok. that makes sense.
Did they use this tuning on the record?
@fzreiRa - Haha, yeah but isn't that the point? ;)
what is the tuning my man
