3 boys trying to play the delay acoustically after so much practice and so many attempts: "that's impossible" one boy seing the sheet music for the first time ever: "Bring it to Mr. Brink, it's time to ring."
As Im listening to this, my local church is ringing its 12 noon bells. And Im like pfft..... thats weak guys...you need to step up your game and play this stuff every hour 😃
In theory it’s a great idea... but, in fact, carillons and pipe organs are usually tuned to different pitches, so it’s rare that they play nicely together.
Honestly, I'm just really happy for you dude. not only having your song performed on a building sized instrument on 100 tons of bells, but that also being broadcast through no digital media over a 2 mile radius to all of the surrounding neighboorhoods. I can only imagine what that feels like, but am so happy that you and this community could make it happen :)
I just think this goes to show you how fantastic of a song Rain is. It's obviously not a complete at all but for it to sound so beautiful on an instrument that is basically as far away as you can get from the one it was written on is astounding to me.
Ive been waiting for a good video like this with this piano/percussion like instrument! this is something every gear head should see and visit. This is absolutely amazing!
This was my favourite video that you've ever made, such a beautiful instrument. Thanks rob for the amazing content and I always look forward to watching your videos.
Although at first it was hard to interpret the beginnings similarities between both of them, once it dropped down an octave I could definitely make out the notes. Well done nonetheless that’s talent.
Typo in the video description box regarding carillon tours. University of Chicago's website says tours are "usually TUESDAYS through Fridays, 11:30am & 4:30pm (and most Sundays at Noon)".
If you look closely I'm the first video. There is a mechanism that says it's from Croydon which is south of London. The bells probably came from there as well
So... You guys have to collect all of these different versions of rain and make one super powerful badass version of it. The Organ the size of a Building version + 100 Tons of Bells version + an acoustic version + a metal version lmao
That’s basically a pipe organ. It’s the size of a building, there’s two or three sets of pedals, and it’s an entire orchestra’s worth of instruments to procure that sound. Except there’s just bells. And they will always play ... for whom the bell tolls.
Imagine being a causal rob scallon fan walking down the street, when all of a sudden, a building starts playing rain.
And then it starts to rain from the clock tower but the clock tower is actually flooded and they think it’s rain
I love rob scallon keep up the good work

Talk about weird instruments, this guy played rain on a BUILDING!
If only it were raining on the building.
@@ElliWoelfin The only logical next step.
Play rain, with RAIN!

what are you talking about bro I play building everyday
He is playing the delay too right?
yep
you can see his hands playing the delay
Nah man they put the delay pedal on his hands if you look really close you can see it
Where's the wah-wah?
96 and 69, balanced, as all things should be.
Man I'd be crying if one of my songs was played on an instrument like that one

100 tons...that's heavy metal.
_Edit: Wow, this has gotten a TON of likes._
You just waited for this cover to come up in order to say this, didn't you? :-)
@@DJTrainBrain My work is done here, Valhalla awaits.
Imagine there was a tank in history with 108 tons

5988 quadrillion de tonnes
He plays Rain on 100 tons of bells and he doesn't even need a delay to perform it. Man, Joey is truly a badass!
The bells have delay build in already.
Andrew yee they have the bells are far from the keyboard so when the hammer hammers them it isn’t instantaneous
You know someone is badass when rob scallon is the one who flip their music sheet
@@operator8886 You certainly have a point
bro the delay pedal is in the bells themselves lol
This was awesome, so cool that he got the delay effect down and everything.
I swear this sounds like an alternate song for the astral observatory in Majora's Mask
Exactly!!! Makes you wonder if it's possibly what inspired Rob in the first place
Joey Brink was probably the best wacka mole player when he was growing up
"So, what instrument are you playing?"
"A Building"
"What...?"
"No, literally a Building!"
Peter Pan a Carillon it’s called
Ash Parker that’s Cast in Bronze AKA Frank Della Penna. He has 2 travelling carillons each with 35 bells
As Im listening to this, my local church is ringing its 12 noon bells. And Im like pfft..... thats weak guys...you need to step up your game and play this stuff every hour 😃
Any amazing exotic instrument: *exists*
Rob Scallon: "Yeah but can it play Rain?"
I found a good spot for the next episode of metal inappropriate places. Could do a wicked rendition of hell’s bells.
P0tat07 gross. AC/DC is bad and you should feel bad
The real Peter Parker your spidey sense must suck then.
He did play for whom the Bell tolls on their in his other video lol
The literal biggest collaboration song in the world: play Rain, but with buildings. Both the bells, and the cathedral organ you visited.
In theory it’s a great idea... but, in fact, carillons and pipe organs are usually tuned to different pitches, so it’s rare that they play nicely together.
"Oh what instrument do you play?"
Joey: "I play the building"
I definitely feel like Rain was made specifically for this instrument. Absolutely incredible

And this has no delay, he played every single one of the notes.
Amazing.
This is so amazing! Rob's content is in another level.
Awesome! Also loved Wintergatan's marble machine played on a clock tower
I saw that and I have what I think is the only carillon board on Pinterest, which has a fair number of RUclips videos on it.
Just the idea of everyone in like a 5 mile radius hearing this is so perfect
The entire neighborhood is shocked. It's raining outside?
Nah, says someone around the block
It's just Rain inside....
A carillon
Thanks a ton
I get anxious practicing my guitar or keyboard knowing that my neighbors might hear me through the walls, imagine practicing this instrument.
This must have been a really cool experience, someone playing *your* song on a metric f*(k ton of bronze. Well done Rob. You've done good kid.
wow just wow Rain is overwhelmingly melancholic preformed by Joey on this amazing feat of engineering and art
kudos to all involved
You even had a freaking BUILDING cover your song!!!
If that’s not a measure of success, I don’t know what is.
This is totally epic!
This puts me into some kind of magical RPG world, this sounds amazing
Can you imagine being a fan of Rob in that town and suddenly hear this song from a cathedral?
The musical talent Rob regularly showcases on his channels never ceases to amaze me. Bravo, Joey. This is so cool.
It feels like this is how it was meant to be played all along, beautiful^^
what the sounded like shit its cool but he fucked up so many times
No it’s meant to be played on guitar with delay and reverb
@@chicken768 He's sightreading it, to be fair to him.

Bell Jam. I’m not satisfied until you make that a video Rob
stranger: what instrument do you play
joey brink: its complicated
Stevie T : can it Djent?
I really loved the carillon episode. I grew up near Bok Tower in Florida which has carillons and it was always cool as a kid to hear them played.
i am always amazed at people who can read notes and play them immediately.
Im more so the kind of person that has memorize everything.
It's like watching a cat play piano the way he uses his paws.....I mean, hands......for each note haha
Superb job with this.
Love the sound of the carillon
Sounds heavenly
Joey plays everything like a Boss!
Imagine if bells actually had more neutral harmonics. That would be great.
Then they would probably not sound like bells anymore. But rather like a piano.
I have no idea what that means but yes
Best Korea the bells have a natural minor 3rd resonance, so when you play a note you’re also playing that note’s minor 3rd
nooo I love the minor third harmonic! The bells wouldn't be the same without it
I just found this song rain and have now heard it like seventy different ways. And I want more ways
