    Thank you everyone for enjoying the demonstration. My pleasure. The paper is 140lb cold press.. Variety of brushes, which are mentioned in the video. Hope we can meet and share the Watercolor Journey together some day or an online workshop. Stay safe. Sincerely, David

    I know this is an older video but if you see this, Thank You!! I've been in a rut the last 6+ months with painting and this helped me remember to loosen up and enjoy the process. I'm on my 2nd go(loved my 1st attempt and just wanted to go again!) with this and am using a couple brushes I haven't touched in months!
    I've been hitting a wall trying to learn better portrait painting and this is just what I didn't know I needed. Thank you so much, you're incredibly talented, my friend! I hope you're well and look forward to your other videos!!!

    Well, amateur here. Cheap, horrible paints, brushes, my paper buckled and fell apart from all the water spattering. Mine looks absolutely nothing like yours, but I'll keep trying. Better equipment on the way. I'm not giving up. It was fun.

    • @ValerieCox-VECCreative
      @ValerieCox-VECCreative 10 месяцев назад

      To prevent paper from buckling, use a block (don’t remove paper from block until painting is done) or for loose paper, you need to “stretch” it first (submerge entire sheet in water, lay towel out on table or other flat surface, put wet paper sheet on towel, cover with another towel, but heavy books or something on paper, and let dry). I find blocks, while a little more expensive, much more convenient as you don’t have to do the prime/stretch prep process.

      I am in the same boat as you. Cannot afford expensive paints, brushes, or paper. Very frustrating and at times I get very defeated. I have to walk away and come back at a later date. Would be nice to see these artists do paintings with generic cheap tools!

    Thank you David. Loved this. I’m working on a painting right now where I can utilize this technique. BTW (full confession, I did not read all 127 comments to see if this has been asked and answered), I assume when you are spraying and drying that your dryer is on for more than a fraction of a second 😬 Do you dry until completely dry and then re spray? Thanks again…John Monster

    Lost opportunity to use, transparent, staining, pigments, Tonal value between horizon and mid mist is too flat. I assume your classically train artist that can take some decent art critique, but it really does look like a a board housewife picked up color instead of her scrapbook materials. Zero color palette cohesion.

    Hello David!
    Happy New Year! I don't know how I found you,.. an accidental selection, I think.. but WOW! I am blessed! I am self taught on YT since September, learning how to beat my arch nemesis, Watercolor! I am at location 17:30 where you are pushing water away with an old brush. In the beginning of this video, you showed the bleeding.. WELL.... about 1 week into my self education, those 2 things happened and Cauliflower, and I thought to myself that these 3 effects were very cool! So, here I am learning that they are real effects! I am elated right now.. Your trees remind me of Chinese charactars too.. I grew up in my I Italian neighborhood of North Beach in San Francisco, my best friends at the time were Chinese. They taught me to cook Chinese food but I wish I learned to write... I hope to master the mist soon!
    I look forward to watching all your videos.. Will you post more here in RUclips? God Bless! Victoria

    Very nice. After watching it I decided to apply the techniques and halfway through while spraying water with my cheap spray bottle the top came off in my hands and the reservoir dumped all over the painting. LOL, practice in accident recovery. It turned out OK and I've learned to use a lot more pigment to gain vibrancy instead of being stingy with it. Thank you for posting it.
