INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 ½ pounds ground beef (80/20)
½ green bell pepper
½ red bell pepper
1 small yellow onion
1 jalapeño
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
1 ½ teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon mace
1 ½ teaspoons paprika
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
½ cup ketchup
½ cup tomato sauce
Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
4 sesame seed buns, toasted
COOKING METHOD:
1. In a large, deep skillet over medium high heat, add oil.
2. Once shimmering, add ground beef. Using a wooden spoon, break the ground meat up into small pieces and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown.
3. Add peppers and onions and stir to combine. Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the peppers and onions are soft and the edges are lightly golden brown.
4. Next, add the tomato paste and stir to combine into the meat mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, or until the tomato paste darkens in color.
5. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, brown sugar and garlic powder. Stir to combine. Then add tomato sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine and cook for 30-60 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly reduced and the flavors marry.
6. Spoon a generous amount of the meat mixture onto the toasted buns. Top with diced onions and pickles.

I know you probably don’t read your comments often but Matty I just wanted to say thank you so much for being you. My brother and I used to watch you all the time and would bond over every episode. My brother passed away in 2021 and I miss him everyday but watching your videos brings back all those good memories I had with my brother. Just because he’s gone doesn’t mean the tradition is going to stop. I’m really happy you were able to provide a space for us both to just relax and laugh and even try some of your recipes. I’m so grateful for you.

These were tasty, thanks Matty! My mom's recipe is still #1 to me tho - cook 3 lbs of burger & 1 can of basic Campbell's chicken gumbo soup (odd, I know), then add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, pepper, all to your own preferences & taste. Everyone loves them! Every time we make them for a party, people ask for the recipe, Then they're shocked at how easy the recipe is, and still be so delicious!
And Matty, you and Sandler need to get together, that seems like it should've already happened. Those tiny clips of vocals should earn you a spot in seconds!

I just want to give 100% props for the Judge shirt!!!
I made this today and there are a few ingredients mentioned in the instructions that are not in the ingredient list - the ingredient list mentions ketchup and tomato sauce but not the tomato paste. I adapted this and cooked it in my Instant Pot and left it on Keep Warm for a few hours, came home and served it over rolls with tots. A hit as usual. Thanks Matty

I monkeyed around with sloppy joe recipes for years, never could find one I wasn’t in some way dissatisfied with. Then I found B. Lagerstrom’s “Sloppy Joseph” here on YT. After a few tweaks, BINGO! It’s the one for me and apart from the 1/2t mace in this one, can’t see a good reason to switch.
