I enjoy watching these videos and learning from them. What I have been wondering about is the machine tools. Many of them look quite old and nothing wrong with that. My question is, what was the industrial base that originally brought these tools to this area.
Pre-war, the British forced India to buy its old manufacturing tools. Did similar with its old railroad stock and steam engines. Part of colonialism...
Prior to the 2 centuries of British exploitation India had been the world's manufacturing powerhouse. British influence reduced the entire country to penury.
But how times change! India is landing spacecraft on the moon, their software engineers write the Windows OS code. Many of their people are now settled in Britain - no racism, and our local Catholic priest is an Indian, local hospitality is run by Indians, clothing imports at Indian shops.

@@beakytwitch7905 Well, The British did that to all of their colonies. It is one of the reasons why the American colonies revolted against Britain. I could tell that the machines were largely British in origin. But the question still remains, what was the industrial base that existed that needed such tools? What was being manufactured?
I will have to question some of India's priorities. Such as the recent moon landing, which is an amazing feat, while much of the country apparently lives in squalor.
And please don't get me started about the IT departments in the US that are largely staffed by people from India.
