- Welcome to the first episode of an incredible new adventure series documenting my solo journey from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, all the way to Moab, Utah. This series will be filled with breathtaking moments, epic challenges, and unforgettable experiences as we traverse the stunning landscapes of America’s West. From climbing 13,000-foot peaks in the Rockies to hiking through deserts, exploring awe-inspiring national parks, and uncovering hidden gems in state parks, this road trip will be one for the books.
But every epic journey starts with a single step, and for me, that step begins here-at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana. After leaving Pittsburgh, I arrived at this gorgeous park, known as one of Indiana’s most scenic destinations. We’ll be staying at the historic Turkey Run Inn, a lodge that has welcomed visitors for decades. While here, I’ll be exploring the property, soaking in the beauty of the park, and preparing for the adventures ahead.
About Turkey Run State Park:
Established in 1916, Turkey Run is Indiana’s second state park and covers over 2,300 acres of rugged beauty. The park is famous for its stunning sandstone canyons, suspension bridge, and incredible hiking trails that wind through some of the state’s last remaining old-growth forests. Fun fact: The name “Turkey Run” comes from the early settlers who noticed wild turkeys using the sandstone ravines to take shelter during the cold winters!
This is just the beginning of an unforgettable road trip. Stay tuned as I climb mountains, trek through deserts, and explore some of the most iconic landscapes in the country. Every destination has a story, and I’m thrilled to share them with you as I journey west toward Moab.

Wait til you see the rest of the park in next weeks episode, it was seriously amazing! Thanks for stopping by Barry!
Looking forward to riding along!
Could have just rode in the passenger seat I had room!
@ next time……lol
Looking forward to seeing this road trip. That looked like a really nice inn to stay at. I always like when there are places like this as an alternative to camping.
My plan was to camp most of the trip but after driving for 7-13 hours a day the last thing I wanted to do was sleep in a tent, so the inns were nice! Thanks for stopping by!
There a lot of great State Parks in Indy. My favorite one is Pokagon State Pk up near Angola IN. It's near interstate 80. close to Michigan. Northeastern Indiana. On Lake James. The lake was scooped out during the ice age. Graveled bottom with a lot of mussels on the bottom .❤😊
I’ll have to keep them in mind for my next trip!
The room looked clean and comfortable. Too bad the food wasn't great. Great outdoor spaces. Any ghosts in the middle of the night?
No ghosts! And it was a nice little break from driving that’s for sure, originally I was going to camp everywhere but I made the decision it would be easier just to get hotels lol
Been looking forward to this series since you hinted it was coming. Thanks for taking us along your journey!
