if you are member of some credit union, sometimes they offer extra perks.
The frustrating part is you have to prove ownership of all those things. I always misplace my receipts
I know this is a super old comment but just an fyi: you don't need a receipt or proof. Unless you have something the average person doesn't have. Insurance companies assume renters have typical furniture clothes, etc
take photos and text to your agent or upload to your account
Sure would suck if you did have your receipts but they burned up in the very fire that you're claiming

I would start by looking at getting coverage with a company you already use like your car insurance or AAA. They may be able to get you some good deals! -Akeiva

What happens to the money if you never end up needing it? Does it just stay with the insurance policy or do they pay you out when you switch providers?
I wish! They keep it. If you never end up making a claim, be glad you didn’t need it! That’s how insurance works. -Akeiva

I have had some small items that I would have felt stupid filing a claim. I had this inexpensive point and shoot digital camera stolen, some camera filters, some shoes, some photographs. I have had a storage space where items were missing but I think it is frivolous to file a claim for the items. I'm not sure if I'm making the right decision but photographs can't be replaced because the digital camera that had the card in it, that went with the camera. I miss my shoes. I tried going back to the store where I purchased them. I wore one pair all the time. I mean who in the world would be interested in my size 12 shoes? I'm tall with big feet.
Ok renters agreement is settled we sent the company saying that any relative living with us is insured and he doesn’t need to named on the policy to be covered. Thanks again it a beautiful day in Hawaii nei.
I know this is old but I would recommend then getting their own insurance that way any claims they make will not follow you for years after
Dies it cover water damage, pipe froze in building & then burst the pipes
For me I need it for liability when I commute by bicycle. You can't easily buy bicycle liability coverage any other way.

How do I apply?
Renters insurance is a requirement for where I'm currently living. I'm confused as to how it is used. For example, when you are faced with different issues in your place, do you file a claim? For example, if your place becomes unlivable will they help you find another place or do you have to wait until it is fixed? Will they help you find people to help you move if you are unable to locate this resource? I'm confused.
Those are honestly very good questions. I wonder wonder if my friend had made sure she had coverage for sewage or pipe flooding damage, if she would have been covered when her landlord basically did nothing. As well as the eventual mold issue that arose from the landlord not addressing it quickly at all.
Another question assurance who we get our policy with won’t list his name there saying they only can list 2 people me and my wife but company we rent from wants his name on the policy and it clearly says we can put his name unless your company needs it on the policy. Help!!

I no longer have renters insurance, as I’m a homeowner now, but I would look at any existing policies or affiliations you have. For example, most car insurers also offer renters. Or if you have AAA, you can ask them. Otherwise, you can google some good carriers for your area. -Akeiva

What if you found out after moving in to a rental property that it rains in it, sockets not working, back steps broken. Does rentals insurance cover this. Landlord not fixing it and I sign lease for a year. Was told steps would be repaired, just found out about other things once I moved in.
Sounds like you might need to find a way out of that lease! -Akeiva
Always do a thorough inspection before signing a lease. Hire a professional if you're confused or do some online research on how to. It's always easier to require proper repairs before signing, That is when renters have the most leverage. Unfortunately, landlords and renters can be a bit of an unequal relationship. Landlords often have a lot of lip service (aka negligence).
What is the best companies that pay out with out problems
State Farm did kine quick after break in they paid thousands and were quick to accept claim because it wasn't near my limit
I’m a bit confused. What if my deductible was $1,000 and my $400 iPad got stolen. I make a claim. My deductible is more than my $400 iPad. At that point there’s no point in making a claim correct?

Me and wife have separate renters insurance and our son lives with us and is on the lease, he’s 27 does he have to have his own or is he covered under our renters policy
There are options. For example, my roommate and I are both listed and covered on our one renters policy -Akeiva

This is a good video, but now I am now frustrated because i can't find $100 deductible for $135 annually. Would you get into trouble if you told us where to find this? You have disclaimers.

Water is leaking into my apartment through the sliding glass door. Maintenance came and turned a dehumidifier on but it keeps leaking. The carpet smells of mildew and I'm worried it might spread to my rug and couch. I have renters insurance but is there any recourse I can take with the apartment complex to ask them to fix the source of the issue or let me move into a different apartment? Sorry I know it's off topic but I don't know who to ask!!

I think I can translate this... Person is saying that it is ridiculous to pay for renters insurance. That they have never needed it themselves. How convenient it is for a landlord to shoulder a tenant with the responsibility that basically should be theirs as a landlord. That people pay all that money out for basically nothing in return.
