Nine notes on what you need to know before signing on the dotted line 1. Credit history good credit with SSN on that check on credit Sesame it’s fine if you have no credit card history 2. Anything you can’t buy 3 times over is too expensive 50 30 20 rule also ask what price of rent includes 3. @@carrywest6288 and what a great job she did in raising you! So smart, so polite! Finally someone that gives actual advice on money and what people actually need. I'm so tired of immature youtubers talking about what kind of table or couch they bought. Where to get a toaster etc. Basic common sense bs basically. That stuff is not even important if you suck at dividing your money spending. Tess, you're precious and amazing so keep it up!
Why would she HIGHLY recommend hiring people to move your stuff if the video is directed towards people renting their first apartment? Typically that consists of young adults moving out of their parents house and most likely don't own much, let alone furniture.
When you hire a moving truck and moving person you're covered by insurance for damages. If you get your friends to help, sure you save money but if anything breaks you will have to pay to replace it. I don't have many things but hired a moving truck for that reason

Getting a separate account to save is such a great tip to save money. I set mine up so that every time I get paid, a certain amount is automatically transfered to that account and I don't end up spending it. Do this now. Even if it's 20 bucks, it's so helpful. It gives your mind the idea that those 20 dollars were never available for you to spend, so it's a painless and easy way to save.
@@gucctae6147 pretty sure he means to invest your money in the stock market. Making your dollar worth something since it's representing a share of a company rather than it being a currency that can inflate.
You’d think Georgia, which while far from a giant slum or undeveloped wilderness, would have more lenient rent costs, but you’d be wrong. I live in a decently small town, and the cheapest apartment around my area that literally isn’t a studio barely bigger than my kitchen, is $1,100 a month.

Dayne Ellison definitely not. I loved college and it started me in a great job but so many of my friends really didn’t want to go and in the end wasted so much time (and money!!)
The problem is, you don't choose how much rent you pay. In NYC, you make 55k a year, and pay $1500 for a room where you live with roommates! This is not even a typical scenario, since most people just don't make this much a year. For anyone to come up and say don't pay more than 30% of your income suggest that you have a choice in the matter, when realistically, you don't! I make 55k a year, and I can't afford to live on my own!
Save your money and move down south. I'm making $13.50 an hour at Walmart and although it could be better, I can afford an apartment. Rn I'm just trying to find an available one.

I don't mean to throw shade, but this was way too much talking for my liking. I just felt like it could have been simplified and shortened quite a bit. Still a helpful video for many people though, thank you!
I agree with everything you said with one exception: for as long as is "socially acceptable." You know what! 26 and I have been dying to move out since ai was 16. I’m getting sick of it, prices are so high in Ontario and pay especially for my job is not as high as it should be. First year or two after college was paying off my school loans and then the rest was getting a car and paying off the loans which I now know was a big mistake cause the car was to much money for me. Thinking I will finally get it paid off in a few months and then trying to save more for rent. Paying rent prices here alone seems almost impossible but i have great credit i know
Thanks for the info! This will be helpful for when my husband and I start looking at getting our own apartment together for the first time soon. Still months away, but that means we'll have our savings ready for the big move overseas. And another tip I got from someone is to go see the apartment in the afternoon in case there's any noisy neighbors and check out the condition it's in. That one is going to be a life saver for sure! Lol
Some thing that worked for me in regards to if you don’t have a credit score, my landlord ended up asking for some sort of payment history, something like a phone bill, etc that you pay for regularly and on time. For me I ended up giving the payment history for my car insurance.
I'm honestly stuck in my rental situation. Its our first apartment on our own and guys. Be careful, for real. We walked right into an LLC, where it's a weekly rental. They advertised it as a "1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment". They then claimed it was an efficiency apartment. However, we were only provided with a mini fridge, and a microwave. The unit next to us has a kitchen, and so does a single unit upstairs. I've seen "efficiency" apartments with full kitchens. We do not have drinkable running water, the only running water we have is in our bathroom, where I must do my dishes next to my toilet. I am also suspicious of them turning the "outbuildings" into "motel rooms", as this used to be a motel setting before. I have today myself saw workers moving a TV into one of the rooms, along with a bed. What is this? What is OUR unit? I feel there is a very broad line between "apartment" and "motel". Our unit would be an apartment if it had a kitchen, but they also could have gotten away by a sliver if they had provided us with a bed, a TV, and the fridge and microwave we already have, and called it a motel room. I need help. Like bad. We've had sewage leaks, from the upstairs toilet and bathtub. We were so dumb to walk into this place, and I frankly don't know what to do other than trying to educate myself and to suit up.
I think leakage is a serious problem and by law they should fix it, try to contact a lawyer and ask them about the situation and what are your options, I rent a place but I want to move because of leakage and mold and I still have 9 months in my contract but they told me I can file a suit and I would win it and that could be the thing that would let your landlord release you, never knew this before speaking to a lawyer, please do! The contract might be not a standard one so it could give you a way out, tell the lawyer all the details
I have pets that are a huge must for me when I get my first apartment. They’re all tank animals (frog, lizard, hermit crabs) so lots of electricity and water are the stuff I’ll having to pay the most. I plan to have rabbit/s or/and cat/s if possible. It’ll definitely be a challenge learning how to balance everything
Itz Itchy main rule of thumb is your apartment should be 1/3rd of your monthly income so if you have an apartment for 750 you should make 2,250/month or if you have roommates that should be how much you and your roommate make together

When I was looking around for an apartment that allows my German shepherd, I started by looking online. The apartments I applied for said they didn’t allow pets on their website, but I applied anyway and talked to the leasing office and they just charge me extra a month for my dog. Is it true that for example I want to buy an 8k car and instead of paying 8k right there I should get a loan over a 5 year payment bases and then pay it all off except like $100 so that my credit score goes up over those five years because I paid before the monthly due date? I read that somewhere but I also heard getting loans actually damage your credit because you needed a loan in the first place or something. Thank you!

Maybe you but I have furniture

Getting a separate account to save is such a great tip to save money. I set mine up so that every time I get paid, a certain amount is automatically transfered to that account and I don't end up spending it. Do this now. Even if it's 20 bucks, it's so helpful. It gives your mind the idea that those 20 dollars were never available for you to spend, so it's a painless and easy way to save.

I agree with everything you said with one exception: for as long as is "socially acceptable." You know what!
How long is your lease for?
I think leakage is a serious problem and by law they should fix it, try to contact a lawyer and ask them about the situation and what are your options, I rent a place but I want to move because of leakage and mold and I still have 9 months in my contract but they told me I can file a suit and I would win it and that could be the thing that would let your landlord release you, never knew this before speaking to a lawyer, please do! The contract might be not a standard one so it could give you a way out, tell the lawyer all the details
I have pets that are a huge must for me when I get my first apartment. How’s it going?
I have over 4 months rent available but don’t have any credit also my yearly income is barely 25k a year. Should I get an apartment at all?
Itz Itchy main rule of thumb is your apartment should be 1/3rd of your monthly income so if you have an apartment for 750 you should make 2,250/month or if you have roommates that should be how much you and your roommate make together

sadly with my credit score my first time getting car insurance i used my credit card to pay it and now im 963 in debt :') but i think i can fix my score by making those payments to pay it off
Is it true that for example I want to buy an 8k car and instead of paying 8k right there I should get a loan over a 5 year payment bases and then pay it all off except like $100 so that my credit score goes up over those five years because I paid before the monthly due date? I read that somewhere but I also heard getting loans actually damage your credit because you needed a loan in the first place or something. Thank you!
Credit always goes down when you get a loan since the lender will do a hard inquiry on your credit, but your score will rebound in a few months

I dropped him and the other broker was like... here what you need to do and get done, and they followed up on my Progress . I was interested in buying a house last November. I had to fix my credit and I didn’t prequalify to buy till March. My first house I offered was rejected, and I didn’t find a great deal till June and closed July 31st. It takes time and stressful and just a roller coaster ride! Moving and furnishing, be prepared to drop 3-5 thousand $$$ just like that. Phew ... it’s expensive buying a house but it’s worth it if you do it wisely!
