I've got the same catback and a cheap downpipe and it sounds great, cant escape the drone but it's nothing too bad. Once you step on it and get into about 3k rpms it sounds just like a VQ. But boy are those upper downpipe bolts and o2 sensors a pain to get off
I do love the sound and the little drone there is is something I can deal with! And I am both looking forward to installing a downpipe but not at the same time XD
Your jackstands! 💀😱 If they slip off the side you'd really be crushed. Please look up the proper stand points. I'm surprised it's not in the comments. Be safe
Thank you! These definitely are not the worst sounding 4 cylinders with an exhaust either. And I'm not sure off the top of my head but the stock exhaust is 2.5 inches, so around that.
I don’t know what your plan is for a downpipe but I would try and buy a resinated one if I were you. There’s a pretty high chance you’re going yo get a good amount of drone with just that small resonator in your exhaust. I had a similar setup with the stock downpipe on my GTI and it droned a lot on the highway.
So I’ve actually had the exhaust on for about 800 miles so far and I’ve found less drone on the highway than I was expecting. You get on the gas a touch and it definitely drones a bit but just cruising is very manageable.
@@TheParkingLotMechanic Mine was also done at an exhaust shop and wasn’t the nicest quality so that probably had a lot to do with it too. A downpipe will increase your sound significantly though, especially if you go catless. Typically with more sound, drone will also increase.
@@andrewleon6410 I still regret not getting one of these in the first place. However, as I said, I’m pretty sure that with a downpipe it’ll be hella loud and probably droney.
Only time will tell! Still gonna get the down pipe though, hahaha. I went cheap for now but if it is bad I may swap it for a different system or get a custom one.
Get it! Totally worth it for the price! I love the sound now after several thousand miles. It’s really not too loud and I have the version without the muffler. But I bet the mufflers help keep it even more manageable on the highway.
Hey man I had a question. I know you said this was 2.5” exhaust. Most down pipes are 3”. Would it be better to just get a 3” inch exhaust for the 3” down pipe?
TL:DR - doesn’t really matter. Long answer: Fitment isn’t an issue. ECS even has a 3 inch to 2.5 inch reducer with their downpipe kit to fit the stock exhaust. Stock and this Rev9 are both 2.5 inches. You can achieve stage 2 power with the stock exhaust and with this because the important piece is the 3 inch downpipe itself. That being said, I really don’t think a full 3 inch exhaust will ever hurt performance on this car (backpressure science/myths are all over the place so I don’t really take too much stock in it) so it’ll really be down to a sound preference. Bigger is definitely louder which to me wasn’t the goal. I’ll most likely swap exhausts when I do get a downpipe but that’s well in the future. Probably a good 3 inch titanium one for max weight reduction cause I’ll be going full racecar by then.
@@TheParkingLotMechanic Oh nice that’s good to hear. I had seen a lot of those back pressure things and I was worried but this is good. I can buy an affordable exhaust and later on a pretty good down pipe.
For me, I believe it was about an hour but it's always hard to tell how long it would be without filming involved. Plus the clamp by the cat was hard to access for me and may not be that way for everyone.
Recently sold my mk6 gti but I’m still interested in your videos, great work !!!
Thanks! Sad about your MK6 though. Hopefully you got something fun as a new daily!
Didn't know this brand even exist, so grateful for the suggestion!
Glad we could help! They also make coil overs which are apparently awesome. I know a guy who has them and loves them.

I love your video’s and your faith! I’ll be in GA for 5 months next year and would love to hang out sometime.
Thanks man! And hit me up on Instagram and we'll hang!

Great vid! Finally swapping my cat back. Do you know what size clamp those rusted ones are?

I can second that it does not drone when cruising on the highway. Perfect amount of noise if you ask me.

I’m thinking about getting this for my MK6 GTI, how does it sounds after the break in period?

Thanks man! I ended up purchasing the one with out the mufflers and I am loving it! Lol
@@jesussalgado7210how bad is the drone going like 55 or so and then compared to 70 or 80

how much do those 4in tips weigh??
....enough? Hahah I have no idea
how long was the install? from start to finish.

Do u have DP on this vid with rev9
Unfortunately just the stock down pipe. That’ll change though
