3 in 1 day!!!! WoW !!! let the learning begin! Cheers from Maine! always awesome to see 3 seperate video alerts, when i come in from a hard day out in the woods doing chores and getting ready for winter, plus catching up on my hunting this month!!! you need to do a traveling road show, visit us little people up here in Maine!!
I still have 158cm HPT/MPI bolt from PSA age ago (~7 years ago) with well over 5,000 rounds (90% is steel case ammo) with even worse lift than one in video where I had to round the tail of extractor when it was brand new so it would skate on internal of carrier instead of scraping it.
I love all your work but videos like this make it worth watching your channel all the time. This simple little technique and a lot of other things that you have shown us over the years were never even brought up in the three AR 15 armorer Classes that I have attended over the years
I started watching your videos a few months ago, when I decided to "build" another AR 15 ( I own a RRA that I bought complete) and was debating how far into it I wanted to go.. after hours and hours of watching SOTAR videos, i was so well informed(and overwhelmed!) that I decide to "cheat" and just buy an upper (BCA) and lower (PSA), and put them together ;) I figured if there were any issues, I'd have all my new knowledge to figure it out.. unfortunately it ran fine (so far, only about 100 rds in) so I ordered another upper and lower in 6.5 Grendel, figuring it'd be more likely to have issues.. only 5 rds in but it works fine too.. guess I'll have to just buy a stripped upper and lower and start collecting parts/ tools.. lol
Im not questioning you but i got some thoughts.. 1. When the bolt sits "properly" the tail should be in contact with the innards of the carrier (even if its excessively high). If its rubbing tail is contacting the carrier then the extractor claw end should be raised a bit, so it shouldnt have a problem there. Think of it like a seesaw. When 1 side goes down the other side goes up. Right? I know it shouldnt be touching but in this case since it is touching it should "seesaw" the extractor claw up a bit. Secondly, i would prob try and take out either the extractor insert or o ring. Or maybe the spring is too long or out of spec. Before deeming the bolt or extractor is broken. I have a ADM bcg and it didnt come with the oring. But it works perfectly fine😂 I do see how itll drag tho. And the weaker metal will give out first. And if the inside of the carrier has a gas leak due to being shaved down from the extractor then thatll lead to bigger problems. Either way good video
I have a bolt that one of the bottom lugs is dragging over the magazine/rounds because there is brass on the lug itself. The carrier has no marks on the bottom where it sets/moves over the mag...at least my thoughts so far is the carrier is out of spec...its a psa 🥴😄

Excellent information as always!!! Thanks for sharing.

Most Armorer's Classes don't go deep into the tech side. It's unfortunate.
Do you mind sharing the Classes you have taken for reference?
Love this channel. I'm always learning something new.
Fantastic information and make perfect sense. The more we learn, the stronger the AR15 Platform grows in America 🇺🇸 thank you sir!

Wow, the more I watch, the more I know I know nothing. Amazing. Great Channel.
Thank you for another great video, your work is appreciated. What are the symptoms and/or malfunctions of excessive extractor lift?
That's interesting. Learned something new to look for.
Thank you for posting this… I would have never thought about this even being an issue…
Always a good day when you upload!
If you see/feel that, wouldn't one need also to replace the the carrier due to wear/damage?
@schooloftheamericanrifle please more videos I’m having sotar withdrawals because I’ve went thru all of your videos 😂
Always educational! Thank you for sharing more free knowledge! 🤙🏻🇺🇸

I f'ning love this guy! Learn something new e v e r y f 'i n g time.
Wow... wouldn't that eventually destroy the inside of the bcg?
Thank you for sharing
Another great video!!!
Let me make one observation. The extractor tail has finish wear on it. That is a pretty good indication that it's rubbing on something.
Correct. The example in the video had problems for many hundred rounds before the owner asked me to
diagnose.
please more videos!!!!!
Is it just me or does the staking on the gas key screws look a little suspect?
The bottom side of the staking is significant
Would effect the gas ring check using the mass of the carrier.
Guess I'll modify PMCS steps.
Yes. It will change the gas ring test.
Spring?
