Wasting horsepower and torque lifting the front end off the ground and not using it to propel the car forward is what lost him the race. Even if he didnt let out wheelies slow you down and can cost you the race.
actually to tell ya the truth the race was over before the wheelie. The s10 staged first then rolled through before the light came on.

Rock Bottom Racing boost and forged internals make anything go
Even big displacement big blocks and LS motors need boost or major nitrous to compete at this level. So pretty much everything has a power adder past about 10 seconds

Beautiful...Ford in a Ford...The Fairmont is the first true FOX chassis Ford, it's also WAY lighter than the Mustang. I have a 79 Fairmont Futura 302V8 iron block,heads & intake,C4 auto,ac,& it weighs under 3000lbs...wait till I drop an all aluminum 331fuelinjected stroker in her...lol

I used to think the Fairmont was a pretty ugly car, but that thing looks pretty good with a pair of shoes and a fat ass. Not to mention that 4.6 makes some pretty savage power.

+Junior Ocampo not really that expensive if you source from junkyards. Still I doubt they will be anywhere near as popular as ls engines, ls's have been put in everything.
+Ishliss2012 for most people, that kind of power is just fine. 9's is plenty fast enough, hell, 11's is pretty cool to me.

The 4.8/5.3s blow up too often when you put boost on them. Mod Motors are the way to go.

I've got a buddy with a "500HP" 327 in a Luv that I just need to embarrass n/a. Dude isn't even running roller rockers, just stock stamped steelies, and ramhorn manifolds. I'm thinking it won't take much to put a hurt on him, honestly. Besides his engine being 13:1, he doesn't have much else going for him. I'd guess really less than 400HP. He's just a typical Chevy blowhard.

My first plan was to build it for e85 efficiency right off the bat and go from there. It's still in the planning stages, lol. E85 is easy to get in WI. I haven't put much thought into it yet. But it will be getting a decent build. As of right now it's a take-out C9OE with under 30k on original parts thats been sitting around since the early 70's packed in grease.
Buddy's Luv hasn't run yet either, so I don't have a goal to reach as of yet.

Lol a 6-71 would be awesome I'm sure. It would have to wait to become a track car though. I don't know if it's changed in the 9 years I've been gone, but WI used to have a 3" hood scoop law. Nothing could stick out more than 3" above the stock hood. I'd have to look into that some more. WI is a pretty cool state (you just have to get out of the SE & Milwaukee area), but they do have some weird "WTF?" laws on the books.

Surprised he's not running a 5.0. Pretty sure these were built on the Foxbody platform and everything is interchangeable. Either way this thing is badass

So, either I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and the S-10 didn't get lined up before the starter went to start the race, or the S-10 fucked around with the trans brake and moved before the race even started. Your choice.

+JKU lab A fox body is definitely the way to go for a junker build. when you're doing all the work yourself you save huge amounts too. Another cheap drag idea would be to do Japanese as some imports are cheap as shit and the custom parts are competitive. Or even to get something and just swap a bigger engine into something already light, like a Porsche 924 or something, fit a different engine and trans.
