I am still in Ho Chi Minh City, or as it was previously known: Saigon. Today, I have to leave my hotel and change to another one. That opens the opportunity for to to see and get to know a new and different part of Ho Chi Minh City. As I am new here, I am curios to see different parts of the town. Join me as we more to another area of Saigon and have a first walk around. Of course, we will also try more Vietnamese food in this video. I once again, stumbled upon some delicous Ho Chi Minh City street food.

I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia. It is my goal here on the channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see many tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.

my best bro ken looking handsome thank you for your huge respect against cpec friendship countries lot of love from your best bro viki 💙
I absolutely love Vietnamese banh mi, one of my all-time favorite sandwiches. It's an explosion of flavors, textures and freshness in a sandwich that is satisfying but light and healthy, unlike western sandwiches that are more heavy, dense and meat/cheese packed. I live in California where I used to get a good banh mi for $4-5 but since Covid, the price doubled to $10. Very sad about that.
Sorry but Covid didn’t have anything to do with it. It were bad policies that prevented the supply chain to regain fully.
In my area ( Danang, Vietnam) the cost of Banh My is around 0,5-1$ 😊
Fresh juice and Banh Mi.... what a way to start a morning. Pretty much easily accessible to find Banh Mu all around the city. ..Again, traffic situation in HCM is just another level.... OK .. taking some lessons in Vietnamese cuisine here... pretty much like how you would eat Korean BBQ meat wrapped with some salad leaf & some rice...Nicee!!! Happy exploring and take good care out there. Cheers mates!
Vietnamese oranges are so bright in color, they look like watercolors!
Ken you are so cute sitting in that chair, like a giant sitting in a Hobbits' chair!
That baguette is really becoming more and more famous, it is even sold in my country!
Your lunch is very interesting, it is like making crafts. In fact, it is Vietnamese spring rolls. Great job, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍🤩🙏
Best travel vlogger rightnow.. Love your videos!! 🥰🤗👋
Appreciate it 🙏
Beautiful vlog Ken, really original and real, keep it up mate
You’re meal at 31:00 is «Banh Cuon». The plastic thing is called rice paper and they used 1/4 of a whole one. It is possible to dip the rice paper in water to soften it up. That’s what we do in Norway when my mom makes Vietnamese food🤩
Hallo Ken!!! 25:37 das ist frühlingsrolle reispapier. Ich hoffe du die Vietnamesische Küche mag und wünsche dir noch schöne Zeit in Vietnam 🌴😍
The best description for Vietnamese cuisine is customizable. Each dish have its own unique feature but you can customize it as much as you like. Like the spice, the sauces, the herbs... Make it how you like it :3
Professor Trần Văn Khê calls Vietnamese food as democratic food, that means eat what you choose or customize
Excellent entertaining video and yes that's rice paper. It would soften with the juices of the food maybe. Good job with the camera and eating today it seems more natural and easier. The food looks super delicious! Oh my gosh yes all the yummy cakes and pastries in Vietnam 🤤
Ken’s videos are great for picking up travel tips, discovering new destinations, and getting inspired for your next adventure.

I love most when you were with your mom, I could feel your love for her and your mom was so happy. You are a good son,👍👏
God bless you always with all your travelings 🙏
Take care !!
The soft drink you got at the restaurant is called Xa Xi or Root Beer . It smells like medicine . You can also find it in North America . One of the herbs she put in the roll tastes effectively like fish . We call it Rau Giâp Ca ( Ca means fish and the full translation is Fish Smelling Herbs ) . Not many Vietnamese people can eat that leaf including myself . It's also a medicinal herb used to prevent measles for kids ? The juice lady said that only apple , orange and carrot can be mixed together to make juice . The banana can't be mixed with the other fruits because of it thick consistency . It's only used to make smoothies .
I hope you will stay longer in VN to enjoy more delicious food and see more beautiful sceneries here . Just do a short Visa Run to Cambodia and come back right away then stay 30 more days in Vietnam .
Hi Ken, one of my future destinations is Vietnam. I live in a Vietnamese community here and I am no stranger to their culture and food. I was surprised that the restaurant did not give you a bowl of hot water to soften the rice paper for making the rolls. It is still delicious with all the ingredient so it's all good. Such nice people and amazing food. Crossing the street...hahaha quite the experience!
Hi Ken,
I used to work and live in Vietnam. Those baggets are tasty and crisp, and they are made of rice flour.
Just ensure that the vendor is wearing gloves when making a sandwich for you. I have enjoyed living there for two years,
people are warm and friendly. The old generation speaks fluent French, which was nice.
Great vlog Ken. I do like the longer vlogs. Hopefully you can get out into the Vietnamese countryside soon on the motorbike, should be a fun experience.
Ken, that called Bò Lá Lốt (Beef and lolot leaves) in viet nam. I highly recomend you try: Bún Bò Huế (Hue Noodle). You can visited and eat a lot of delicious food in Đa Nang, Phu Quoc, Hoi An, Hue, Miền Tây, Can Tho. You can also try Bánh Mì Bò Ốp La, Ốc (Snails) Bánh Canh (Banh Canh), Hủ Tiếu (Hu Tieu), Bun Dau Mam Tom (Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm), Phở Bò (Pho Bo), Mì xào (Mi xao), Bánh Xèo, Nem Nướng, Bánh Nậm Lọc Bèo Huế, Chè Huế.
Thank you for giving me 40 min of entertainment and thats the success for you ones people liked your work ken.
Looks absolutely delicious Ken. Great idea asking the locals how to eat the food. Now you know how to do it. 😂😂😂
A bit too late but anyway welcome to my hometown! And you are very close to my place! The narrow street you passed by in the beginning of your clip is actually a night street food area, used to be very busy at night, you can explore it later in the evening! You are eating beef wrapped in piper lolot leaves, which has very nice fragrance, quite traditional food! You still can find many good eating places along this street - Vo Van Tan, from famous Vietnamese bánh mỳ (baguette) to Hu tieu Nam Vang (Khmer noodles), from Beef noodles (Phở) to Broken rice (Cơm Tấm), from Chinese noodles to Steamed rice rolls (bánh cuốn)...all my favorites! Enjoy and have good time in Saigon! P.S : the sauce you dipped your roll in - made from special fermented fish sauce, different from fish sauce using in daily cooking!
Thank you 😊
Awesome video 🔥
A day without Ken is a day without sunshine ☀️!!
2:52 bánh mì literally mean cake made from flour, or the french baguette
You would then add words such as thịt (meat), trứng (egg), chả (steamed meat roll), cá mòi (sardines), bì (pork rinds), etc., such as bánh mì thịt.
Then this becomes what type of sub sandwich you’re having
Love your videos 🔥
Hi Ken. Nice to see you. That juice looks yummy
Great and interesting video. I love it. Thanks Ken. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
You must try a Vietnamese coffee and pho noodles soup
What a great start to a fresh morning by having a glass of fresh orange juice and a Bahn Mi. Interesting walk about in another neighbourhood of your 2nd hotel. An experienced traveller like you, will not face much or any problem hunting for food. Yeah, that's a fun way to enjoy those Vietnamese rolls....agree totally that it's a healthy meal with lots of greens and very very little oil. Wonderful of that lady to show you how/what to put in that rice paper....RICE PAPER not plastic , Ken 😂😅 Haha...you are already a true Asian, eating egg tart and drinking fruit juice by the roadside....bet there's no such thing in Germany, right?
As usual, thank you very much for giving us good content to entertain us. Kudos to you, Ken and blessing as always 🙏🙏
Yeah you are totally right, We dont have that in Germany 😅
Such healthy food in Viet Nam! And the hotel and food is so cheap!
Spring rolls look really good! Ken
I had lot of PHO and BUNH MI In Melbourne..
Love their SAIGON COffee.. Condensed milk mate...
Great video Ken
Nice content brother ❤
What kind of meat is that Ken. I know it was good because you always give a honest review. Your channel is always great to watch and learn.
Good morning ☀️ Mr. Ken ! I like streets food, have a wonderful day stay safe 🙏
Thank you 😊
i always oredered van mih here in phls. cute apartment and view take care always ken.😍👍🙏🇵🇭
Ken you are a proffession guy in spell all Adventures round the Wourld 🌏🌊🇸🇽👏👏🤩I feel happy always listen too you ... 👋😂👌
Nice haircut Ken 😊
Banh Mi took inspiration from French baget but not left over from the French. That lady at the banh mi place said she does not like you to film her but she tolerated it that is nice.
I wish all my mornings start out with fresh juice and banh mi…😕I am so envy of your morning starts.
We usually dip the rice paper in warm water to make it soft and flexible
I’m surprised they don’t give some water to wet the rice papers. My husband’s family is Vietnamese and when I eat at their house, they always dip those rice paper in water very quickly and then it’s easier to fold with those fillings, and eat.
Good video!
Hi Ken what is the name of the first hotel?
The baguette lady said she doesn't want you to record her 😅
Hi kuya Ken you are enjoying to travel i hope enjoy always safe
Hi like your content Ken, what is the name of the App if you visit Ho Chi Min city, can you tell me please ? Thanks a lot
you need to go to Da Lat City in Vietnam bro. You will love it trust me.
What a beautiful job she did!
Best vlog
Seagulls have come from abroad to Bangpoo in Samut Prakan a lot these days. Take a trip and eat seafood.😊
Vietnamese's dishes are so good
Nothing beat fresh squeezed juice
Ken,you should dip the rice paper roll with the greens and meat, into the bowl of sauce and then you eat.
When I was in Vietnam it’s hard to walk in and just grab a hotel that I like
normally the rice roll should be sightly soaked in water to make it soft before putting in the veggie/meat and then roll it. it makes easier to roll and chew.
We have many kind of rice paper. And this one no need to soak in water 😃
The pulp of the fruit.Hey Ken it would be good if you could hook up with Dustin&Reche for a vlog,I think a collaboration between you and Dustinbackpacks would be very cool.
those things you finish at 32:00 is kinda expensive. It should cost half of that :(
Việt nam ẩm thực ngon con người thân thiện
Video nào tui cũng xem bạn hết bạn rất dễ thương đáng yêu
the lady that sale the banh mi she said " she keep on telling you not to record but you are keep on recording " to another costomer .
The drink in the can “sa xi” is similar to “root beer” in the United States.
Lost in translation but still hand signals work. 😄👍🏻
I wonder if it is safe to add ice cubes in my drinks from those street vendors 🤔 I'm afraid my stomach can't handle the local tap water.
Sarsi is sarsaparilla in SE Asia. Not common in Europe I suppose.
Banh mi is breakfast of gods 🙌 😋 ❤
Anh ta là người đức
Xin Cao, Ken. Apa khabar? Sawadee ka? 😂😂😂
Hahaha so many ways to say hello 😀
@@AuntyJack123 yeah, it's fun, right? Forgot to include "Komusta" (The Philippines) l'm learning all these from Ken 😂😀
@@chaw294 Ah we can also add "ayobowan", from Sri Lanka 😀
@@KenAbroad Oh ya, that's right , "ayobowan" (Sri Lanka) Next, will be from HK, "Nei Hou" (Cantonese) "Ni Hau" (Mandarin) 😄😁
You should ask for a bah mi delivery its more easy to do than that 😅
Hello ken magandang gabe❤❤❤❤❤
this man is so cute i swear he dont even know
I couldn't see all your herbs, but if you see a heart-shaped herb, it's fish mint. That could be why you tasted something "fishy". It's an herb a lot of Viets don't like. LOL!
Baguette Bhan Mi is common in Vietnam/ French period.
Expected that meal to be a lot cheaper than 7.50...
Ken, dont drink orange and carrot mix, it increases heartburn. For banana, you cannot juice it, only blend into smoothie. She was trying to tell you. You can actually juice the apple and orange and then mix into the banana smoothie
The fishy taste comes from a herb ( diếp cá leaf) 😂😂😂
Dark curtain you have to move, for dark
My friend, you should change your slippers when entering the hotel room. This is for your hygiene and for the hotel also. With best regards.
lá quấn quanh thịt bò là : Lá Lốt
Is it sarsparilla? The drink.
good
Did you like the licorice drink?
Maybe use Google translate to communicate with locals who doesn't understand your language. Good luck
the soda that you drank is root beer
If I were there I would also eat Bahn Mi everyday. 😁
Mabuhay in ( tagalog ) 🇸🇽🇸🇽🇸🇽🌊🌏
Dear Mr Ken Abroad.May I know when you want to come back to visit Malaysia again?
Currently that's not planed, maybe later this year
I hope you come back again to visit Malaysia. I miss you so much when since you visited my country. Good bye Mr Ken Abroad and have a nice day when you going to traveling
I'm not sure if you've asked the lady who sells baguette or maybe you did & she didn't understand you but according to her she asked you not to record her but you kept doing it so there's a language barrier here. So just be careful next time!
stop making me hungry 🤤🤤🤤
egg tart, very cheap even at KFC in Danang, Ho Chin Minh city is massive and Vietnamese people are so friendly & welcoming, unfortunately everything is written in Vietnamese, and mostly non English speakers, use goggle translator for communication
Btw be careful of fish mint if you don’t like fish
Fish mint and mam tom are two things a lot of Vietnamese people fear. Well, bitter melon, too. LOL!
Bạn đến từ Nga sk
Đức
The last lady said banana is smoothy, and apple and the rest are juicing.
เที่ยวให้สนุกนะครับ เดินทางปลอดภัยครับ
Thank you 😊
Vietnamese are good people
It is not Mint .... It is Basil 😁
You're not in the busiest part of the city yet
pulp not meat
❤❤❤
Vietnam popular food is live seafood and family dinner, not pho and bánh mì
Great video once again! We are fairly new in the vlog world and have just started our own travel channel if anybody here is able to take a look, any support is appreciated. Great video again Ken and thank you 🙂
