  • This is my third time visiting Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan in Honduras. The question is, as always, should you bring your snorkeling equipment. The answer: Definity YES!
We got off the ship late because the water didn't look that clear. We had some rough weather on previous days and figured that the water would still be a mess, but we were wrong.
The water wasn't perfect yet but I can imagine on a clear day this place would be beautiful. Just a few feet off the pier we started seeing amazing coral heads and lots of fish. It was very easy even for a beginner, and you don't have to swim far.
Once you do get to the edge, or drop off, the reef walls are so cool. The drops to about 30 to 50 feet in some areas while the top of the shelf is 8 to 15 feet. The shallow corals were also beautiful and some were very shallow, somewhere between 3 to 8 feet deep.
One note to all snorkels who love the water, Please try your best to not touch the corals with your hands or fins. You can see a lot of damaged coral from humans, but even with that it's a great destination!!

Thank you so much. We were concerned they might have cordoned off your 4,5,6,7,8 areas etc since we were there years ago. Thanks to your video we can make plans. Thanks again.

You’re welcome, glad to help. It was nice that the lifeguard post was facing where all the snorkelers were and not towards the swimming area. So I feel like they know how important it is for us snorkelers to find good spots. I will definitely snorkel here again!
