We ran into a MASSIVE WALL Of JELLYFISH!
Просмотров 574 месяца назад
Snorkeling in Destin again, we decide to go to a manmade reef we call the waves of the ocean. It is located in Fort Walton Beach, right in front of the crab trap. What we didn't expect was the amount of jellyfish that were there, it was crazy. Millions of jellyfish spawning. Days later I am still itching from all the stings, LOL. We did get to film a beautiful one called a compass jellyfish whi...

What are the best Cruise Ports to snorkel at? Can you find good snorkeling in a city as big as San Juan? I visited a Place called Escambron Beach, Right in the heart of San Juan. It still is a public beach with public beach access. The thing I hate there is how they tell you what they want to make money on you. Our taxi driver was nice and stayed with us the whole time. He told us just rent some chairs to set your stuff on, however we didn’t really have to do that if we didn’t want to. The people there do get really pushy which does make it a little unfortunate because you have to say no like a million times

      You can enter from the pier or straight from the beach. I entered from the beach, but you have to swim under the water obstacle course. You can also enter at the end of the pier which is where I filmed all the fish under the pier and was amazing! • @Snorktastic
      @Snorktastic 6 месяцев назад

      Yea it’s kinda tough to understand what you have to do, out side of the port where you get a taxi you tell them where you want to go. They will then ask you “do you have reservations “ and that is with any of the destinations, like chankanaab, Skyreef, paradise beach, Mr sanchos or any. Tell them yes, then they will continue to ask you like 3 times or more, oh you have tickets, you already bought them? What they want to do is sell you tickets or passes, they will tell you that you can’t just go get them there and the only way you can go is if you have them. I’ve been there 6 times now and only once was one of the places sold out, lol. So you pay the taxi ride price only, which is like 16 for up to 4 people. When you get there, if they are slammed they may tell you it’s only all inclusive on that day because they don’t want to charge people cc and slow things down, so they might tell you like 59 or 69 a person. But that only happened once to us, and we just walked up the beach to one that wasn’t full, lol. Hopefully, this helps, let me know if you have any other questions, and have fun!

    We just got back from Half Moon Cay, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk 2 weeks ago on Carnival Magic. In September 2023 we took a short 4 day on Liberty to Nassau (will never go back) and Princess Cays. We just booked Carnival Celebration for February 2025 going to San Juan, St. Thomas, and back to Amber Cove. I did a 7 day back in 2001 and we went to St. Thomas, St. Croix, and San Juan. I’ve always wanted to go back to San Juan and St. Thomas. My wife’s first cruise was on our Liberty cruise. She loves cruising now. Did I hear that right? • @Snorktastic

      Yes, it was dirt cheap, that was with all ad ons, so the actual rental was only 30 for the day. I think we spent 10 for the Ubers to get to the car rental place. The parking in old San Juan is tough sometimes but it was amazing to just go where we wanted to go

We originally wanted to rent a golf cart because my friends had just been in GT the week before us and that’s what they did. Unfortunately Mardi Gras got to port an hour before us so all the golf carts were gone. The main reason we didn’t get the car was, there are trails you can take the golf carts through to get to other beaches and you can’t do that with the car. Hell, the golf carts are $120 in GT 🤦🏻‍♂️

      @@Snorktastic ok thanks! We have a group of 57 going so trying to make sure there’s enough room for us to sit on beach in the chairs! It looks like it’s a rocky path into the water? Is that so? I was hoping for the traditional sand to water beach. Is there parts like that?

    • @Snorktastic
      @Snorktastic 10 месяцев назад

      @@kakester8 So you are correct, the beach is more rocky here. It’s more a great spot for snorkeling, and still enjoying sunning, but without the soft Caribbean sand. If you want more of a real nice beach with soft sand go to paradise beach, it’s not as good of snorkeling so it’s kinda a trade off. Just watch my other video to get an idea of the beach there. I also just went to sky reef, which is right next to chankanaab, but it was also not soft sand, more for the snorkeling

    What are the names of all your spots?

    • @Snorktastic
      @Snorktastic 11 месяцев назад

      This spot was called Escambron beach, it was right in the heart of old San Juan, so very close to the port. I liked the beach part better than the marine park, but both were fun and safe to explore. Check out my other videos for spots on some of the other ports in the Caribbean

    Love Escambron Beach! 😃It was my childhood beach when I lived in P.R. Never snorkeled there, but I can't wait to do so w my hubby next time we visit the island! 😁 Hint: If you feel adventurous, you can catch one of the public buses 1-2 blocks from the cruise port (near Parque Colon / Columbus Park) for less than $2 pp and it will drop you off Luis Muñoz Rivera park that's across from the beach. It's not a long walk thru the park, to cross the street, to get to the beach. And the park is very pretty too! 😉

      I always take mine, I bring a duffle bag in my suitcase with wheels on it, then I can just put the snorkel gear in and take it with us easier.

    Thanks for the info! Can i ask if we brought our own chairs and umbrella would we have been able to take them on the taxi?

    • @Snorktastic
      @Snorktastic 11 месяцев назад

      I’ve never tried it,but I don’t see why not. We take a rolling duffle bag and a beach bag and have never had a problem. You can use any part of the beach for free. I see people just laying out their towels so they don’t have to rent a chair, and that’s totally fine.

      No need to bring any chairs or umbrellas. You can pay for them on the beach.

      I brought my own, I didn’t see a rental place on the beach but I think you can buy a cheap set there, They do have a lot of local stores

    How far is this from port?

    • @Snorktastic
      @Snorktastic 11 месяцев назад

      I think it only took us about 15 minutes, it was super close. When we went to paradise beach it was a little further. It’s Definitely close enough to go to even if you have a short day there

      @@Snorktastic We are on the NCL Joy departing Miami March 23rd. It should be plenty hot/humid in CM and we'll need to find shade! Enjoy your next visit to this snorkelling paradise.

    Coki beach has not always been this way. I was shocked with the amount of people. I love to cruise and I guess larger and more ships means more people. We would always tell people, go to Coki beach if you want to snorkel. Dog biscuits work great to attract fish.

      Cool, that’s great to know. Yea it was crowded the day we went but I would still go back just for the snorkeling. The sand was also amazing, super soft
