Are we going to talk about the folds and creases in the leather fit? Driver seat Passenger seat and rear left all have them. And that’s when they’re new, fresh and unworn. Maybe I’m being a bit too fussy because I love the car otherwise (except the rear pipes at the side. Oh and the Pro badge and ..)
@JohnWilson-jh5iz The body kit is fine. My daughter has a 2nd gen Mini Cooper. It's been a PITA with reliability. This comes from a long-term Alfa Romeo owner. Overall, Pedro's car looks good, although a Mini wouldn't be at the top of my list for expensive restos. That's just my opinion.
It's a lovely ❤ example of work done. Personally the hood needs to be hidden . Would it be possible to design a spoiler at the rear , which could double up in hiding the pram hood once folded back to create a smooth line finish ?
One word: Epic! I need to send one of my Minis to this guy. I think the rear diffuser would look slightly better if it were painted black like the wheel arches in my humble opinion. Amazing build!
A lot of nice pieces on it especially the interior, but 280bhp would make it one of most powerful stock supercharger R52/R53s. Without any extra work, cam, injectors as a minimum etc I highly doubt this is above 230. Even with the airtec goodies, the cold air feed isn’t connected, floating around to a “hot air feed”. The AIT are going to be crazy high. Anything done to the suspension or brakes? Seems the basics have been over looked.
@@anthonywebb4006 they did upgrade the brakes to GP ones in the video you can see the brake calipers. The suspension I don't know... But 280hp and 400nm of torque does seem high for the mods... To get that tipe of power you need a big valve head, decat, race exhaust headers, bigger injectors and a proper tune.
Standard is 167 for an R52. I've got a R53 with 2k worth of engine work done and it's nowhere near 280. I call BS on 280 bhp. I'm running the airtec intake and air filter plus a Newman racing cam
The LSD would make the biggest difference - my r53 Auto with a 15% pulley will just light up one tyre this time of year. I think swapping in the manual is quite tricky.
Body kit doesnt flow with shape of the Mini.....blue interior doesnt really match or flow. Appreciate the work but a bit early 2000 styling. Wheels, tyres and stance spot on though.
Guys the front edge of the splitter to me doesn’t look as crisp as I think it should be. Especially on the inner edge. The rest of the car is epic. Hats off.👍
Yes it’s not been masked off very well and has lifted in parts. Also some rough sealant work where the rear lower bumper section has been bonded on. Some nice ideas but the whole thing doesn’t quite do it for me nor look that high end.

Those performance figures are a bit suz 240bhp is my guess tops.... love to know how you can get all that bhp/torque from those mods, that many mini owners have done and only seen 230/240...🤣
It's all a bit carlos fandango for me . Frank Stephenson got it spot on out of the box. Front end is a joke, rear end does not work at all and the interior is a little over the top.

Wow Project PP looks stunning especially the details on the interior. Love the designs of the splitters and moving the twin exhaust outlets. Well done to all of you 👍. You could have done a reveal at Mini Fair in January… now that’s a thought 😉
While it is a nice 1st Gen, I am disappointed in the end result for how long it took. I am not here to Yuk anyone's Yum, but spending all that time and money and you all still kept the Auto gearbox? I had been waiting nearly two years for something extremely special, but a lot of this feels like you all got bored with the project and just ordered some aftermarket stuff to wrap up the project.
Hello Peter. Clearly a long and painstaking job! So much work and a satisfying outcome…but you need to drive it now to see how special it drives. It must have cost a bunch to do this. Well done to everybody involved. 🙂🙂🙂Richard
Project PP is looking awesome especially once all the paint correction is done especially on the front bumper?🤔 But seriously apart from that absolutely awesome Pete & how much bhp & torque!!😱 Nice one at last Pete!!👌🏻👍🏻
Car looks great, nice video. I remember taking the gen 1 cooper s out for a test drive when they were first released and absolutely loved it, especially the whine from the super charger. I think at the time they were about £20k new, well above my budget back then. My good friend has owned Porsche, Ferrari and TVR and he loves his Mini convertible, I’m off to check autotrader.

Wow can’t believe it’s been 7 months going to have to re run the previous episodes it’s been that long lol congrats to the final results see if I can use bits for my R52 MCS
The heated seat switch factory isn't on the CAN bus, not at all. I know that people like to say things like that because the viewers doesn't understand CAN. The buttons can be made to work but it needs the right thermistor in the mat, the switches certainly are not anything to do with k bus or can bus. Unfortunately vehicle coms are seldom interesting to most and understood less, when it's difficult blame something no one will question. I will... You can point him my way if he's stuck on things like that but adding a thermistor in the seat would get the oem switches working 😉 I like the seats, it's good to see an r52 done as they don't happen very often, i think there is more interest growing in them but they are becoming tired. Lots of bad examples and with lots of electrical issues. Could have gone much further with the project for sure but i know what it's like to go too far on a build. However where it is the owner can continue to modify it i suspect the power is more like 200nm and 215hp with the mods but i hear RUclips adds 50hp+? A dsg swap would have been a better gearbox but that's a lot of effort I hope the owner is happy with the car because that's all that matters
True. Heated seats require absolutely no coding into the car it’s all ‘hardware’ - as evidenced by the retrofit heated seat loom - no need to code anything into the car - So nothing to do with CAN bus.
Cool but only negative is the CVT transmission...yuk. Used to work on them in the mining industry and they weren't popular then. Nice job though. Cheers from DU.
@lukegraham3282 that's what I asked(P-Ped). I know the R53 came with a Torque Converter Transmission. I also own a R53 manual 2005 model. According to P-Ped they said its a CVT Transmission.
