This brought back a few memories, I'd forgotten about the, 'Amstrad Console' as we called it, version of Robocop 2 done by Andy and Ivan who previously had done the Spectrum and Amstrad computer versions. Also, I worked on the SNES version of Lethal Weapon 3 but wasn't aware that it had been ported to the Amiga... It looks identical!
Yeah, I was gonna say, I played a lethal weapon game on the SNES quite a lot back in the day, and taking into account the different hardware it looked so similar to the Amiga version in the video I'd swear it was the same game... Weird.
@@MrHarbonaut Lol. I can imagine. Given how Nintendo was back then... I mean, look at the bastardised version of wolfenstein that released on the SNES. Great choice of games. As a child, I loved playing every single one of these. Yes, even the bad ones. I remember enjoying Big Trouble in Little China the Speccy game, due to my love for the movie. My imagination made up for any short comings. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
This is what I love about your channel - the focus on all that stuff that made our childhoods over here in Europe, and that so few others are covering. The Amiga, Spectrum, C64, Master System and Genesis deserve their place in pop culture history, and I'm glad you're always giving them plenty of attention, rather than solely covering Nintendo games like everyone else. :) PS: I used to love the C64 version of Big Trouble in Little China. What was wrong with me?!
Despite living in the US, I actually had a PC Engine purchased overseas, and had that batman game. It was pretty good. Man that brought me back. Thanks Kim.
Kim "in"Justice (basically an alternate reality version of Kim who murders the Joker and goes on to cause a dystopian environment which Kim rules with an iron fist).
Awesome video. The original Robocop on the ST was probably my fave game ever to the extent I wrote a rather gushing letter to Retrogamer that got printed. I don't think I got off the first level of the sequel though - it was nails. That Amstrad version looks really good.

I donno if ya will cover it here but I also got stuck in the ghost busters 2 game as once I did manage to complete level one and the game crashed so I've never seen the other levels
Wasn't aware of the PCE Batman game being different, so this has been informative. GX4000 was always destined to fail, but yeah Batman was good, as was Pang, both were well crafted around the inherent limitations of the platform. It would probably be a fun project to try and make 'new' movie based games for these older platforms today, without the time constraints associated with development back in the day, although you've got the issue of the rights holders probably not taking kindly to them.
Actually Gunhead is a puzzling license, mostly because the titular Gunhead is an esclusively ground unit similar to a hybrid robot tank. Makes me think how my favorite game was supposed to be a licensed game, but it seems that license was lost: Nomad by GameTek. Now, it's not a movie license, but instead one of Disneyland's Space Mountain, but still it was going to be licensed. Heck, there are still a couple of references to the ride in the game (the design of the ship and the fact that your ship's log is called the Space Mountain Log). But overall, I think it's one of those games that's pretty impressive for its time (1993) and likely only didn't sell well because it was released for DOS when people only really wanted to play Windows games on their PC.
People wanted windows games in 1993? I'm fairly sure nobody played games using windows if they could help it until well into the days of Windows 95. (even then I'd often find myself booting into DOS mode to play the majority of my games...) 1993 you're still talking windows 3.11 Nobody played games using that. You pretty much couldn't. It was atrocious for it...
It's a damn shame The Final Option wasn't completed. The lowly, lowly cook deserved atleast one finished game for his 80's/90's bone breaking extravaganza.
Lol, pardon, it's Anderson. Douglas Anderson, not Adams. Long time since I played Kensei. It had one of better grappling systems on PS1, Douglas' counter had the animation of him flailing his arms around like mad, just like Seagal.
I've still got my gunhed VHS...loved that terrible film when I was a kid, who doesn't like their giant robots powered by whiskey! All hail the Kyron-5!!
The biggest problem with those games is why in the world it takes so long for us to use some firearms. Predator has that scene where they shoot down the whole jungle and in the game we barely have any guns
Aliens vs Predator games are a notable aversion, both arcade beatemup and the PC first-person shooter, you get guns from the start if playing as hoomans, but I remember Predator only having disks and spears to throw until a few levels in when you get the shoulder laser.
Personally, I consider MUSHA on MegaDrive/Genesis to be Compile's finest hour, but Blazing Lasers is a solid title too. But for me, the amazing music and awesome Noh-inspired artwork makes MUSHA an all time classic, while there's nothing about BL that makes it stand out other than the excellent Compile gameplay. But you can get that with any of their shmups.
I'm sorry, but.... a game where instead of Steven Seagal, you get to play a look-alike, is the most perfect adaptation imaginable, given his way of acting in the more modern movies XD
I kind of wonder if LAH might have gained more of an audience if it had come out much later as an R-rated film, I like it but it's such an odd meta creation for the time. I'm mostly reminded of that cool Paul Clansey track from Aliens, listened to that a lot more than playing the game lol. Aw Seagal, his movies got so bad later on, I gave up around the truly awful Half Past Dead, Exit Wounds(2001) was his last decent flick imo. Robocop games, you kind of wonder if the developers even like the films for how bad most of them are? That Carnivac tribute project looks pretty good. PCE Batman, that must have been a different design reskinned, I could see Adam West cleaning a painting. ;) Was just looking at a Gunhead review, really just a collection of choice effects from the era, great game and still attainable BL. Supergran! :D
Hmmm... I’ve never realized Lethal Weapon is a Christmas movie. Die Hard is obviously a Christmas movie and everyone knows and accepts that but even though I realize Lethal Weapon takes place on Christmas I just never considered it. Aside from Die Hard my other favorite Christmas Movie is Gremlins. Dennis Leary’s The Ref is my other go to Christmas movie
Jason Blalock I LOVE. Shane Black. KISS KISS Bang Bang and Long Kiss Goodnight both took place in and around Christmas as well. Hmm. Did the new Predator take place at Christmas I missed that one.
Why would someone make any Arnold adaptation a beat em up?!? It’s should be a shooter, always a shooter. My personal favorite when I was younger was True Lies on The Mega Drive. I did have a weird dream once about playing an adaption if Jingle All The Way on The Spectrum. That was a nightmare
Arnie did bonk some heads in his movies, but mostly shot stuff. Beatemups are one thing, but WWE 2K16 is a wrestling game with several versions of Arnie playable. It has Terminator entrance with time travel and bike riding but you wrestle people in a ring. With ropes, turnbuckles etc. As the Terminator. Can't they just make a Terminator game where you shoot up a police department and an arcade? I guess no, for political reasons. I did play T2-based rail shooter so there's at least that.
Kim Justice The staunch republican who made his fortune killing people in movies a lot of the time with guns, didn’t like shooting in his games?!? Speechless
Robocop 2 on the NES was one of the worst goddamn games for the system... the controls are unresponsive and loose as hell thanks to the way your character's movement incorporates acceleration, and a jump that is delayed.

@@shkeni I think that's exactly everything I loved at that time in my life LOL
The biggest problem with those games is why in the world it takes so long for us to use some firearms. Predator has that scene where they shoot down the whole jungle and in the game we barely have any guns
Silly isn't it? Might be down to Arnold himself. Rambo is another big offender on the Nes of course
Aliens vs Predator games are a notable aversion, both arcade beatemup and the PC first-person shooter, you get guns from the start if playing as hoomans, but I remember Predator only having disks and spears to throw until a few levels in when you get the shoulder laser.
Totally random but you outta do a doc on the history of censorship in Old Blighty
Musha's art is great, as a shooter it's not quite my fav though
Supergran! :D
Kim where did you rip your intro theme from? It's very reminiscent of a tv show from the 80s. Please answer it's driving me bonkers!
It's an old BBC Video jingle
The Last Action Hero was 1993.
A large number of Shane Black's movies are set at Christmas. It's kind of his thing.
Taking place on Christmas is enough!
Jason Blalock I LOVE. Shane Black. KISS KISS Bang Bang and Long Kiss Goodnight both took place in and around Christmas as well. Hmm. Did the new Predator take place at Christmas I missed that one.
Last action hero is a 90`s movie
Jibbed, as is giblets ;)
If 'Die hard' is a Christmas movie because it's set at Christmas, well, by the same measure Fargo is also a Christmas movie.
Serguei Khadukin um....... its *not* up for debate?
Scrooge! :D
And Cobra.
@@Kim_Justice Thank you! Love your show!
"teetus interactive" lol, TIE-TUS interactive
Actually the company is pronounced tee-tus
The pipe section of Aliens (US) wasn't that hard. Just a few goes to memorize the route and you're in.
I'm not sure if Kim mis-spoke but Robocop 2 on Amstrad looks nothing like a 16bit game to me. I'd say it's mid tier 8-bit NES at the very best.
From what I hear Ahnuld didn't like being shown shooting in his games. This doesn't explain True Lies mind
Speechless
The Republican Paradox...
Robocop 2 on the NES was one of the worst goddamn games for the system... the controls are unresponsive and loose as hell thanks to the way your character's movement incorporates acceleration, and a jump that is delayed.
Batman would get done for jaywalking if he didn't cross at the right areas ha.
