Video interview with Australian pop singer Sia. FaceCulture spoke to Sia Furler about her dogs, being lonely on tour, popstars, being shy, drinking lots of alcohol in the past, the new album We Are Born, writing songs for others, being realistic about music, only enjoying the actual show, grief, not promoting albums in the future, and more. A pop star is a product. Sia is a real human.

Shes genuinely the same thing as any other pop star. She started with good intentions and got ate up by the industry. Now shes a sellout that makes music for the sake of money, views and recognition rather than making music for the sake of music.

Well, this happens to everyone, she writes songs first of all for recognition, secondly for money and for herself, and only thirdly she writes and sings because of the music, this is her job. It is unlikely that she stopped writing music for music's sake; it remained the same, it just gained popularity.
Now she considers herself a pop star. But she only says this as a joke and in general she is a pop star! But most importantly, she remains a wonderful, kind person who does not consider herself superior to others, like other stars. At least this shows his attitude towards the fans. She communicates with them on Twitter, do you think others do this, or she did it)))
You can tell she's not in it for the fame, she's just a very humble and likeable person, I like her little psychotic laugh.

I think she doesn't show her face when she's performing because she doesn't want to be distracted.
She is not covering her face because she thinks she is ugly. She is covering her face because of anonyminity. Yeah her pictures are online, but she chooses not to use her face to drive her career as a performer.
she has lost self confidence ever since her boyfriend died in a car crash some years ago and she tried to commit suicide (she wrote a note and everything!). She wants to be anonymous but she can't... she truly cannot. It's impossible to go from preforming live and showing your face to completely disappearing

She is unbelievably likeable, compared to most vapid personalities (some of whom she profits off of greatly.) I love her all the more getting to see her like this. She seems like a kindred spirit.
Sia is so real and genuine and so down to earth, and one with herself. she doesn't try to hold back her loud laugh or her thoughts when she thinks of something funny. her voice is magnificent and angelic... i don't have words for how much i love an appreciate her. I hope i can one day be true to myself the way she is now.

Diana Daniels The first time I saw the Ellen performance I was kinda creeped out that she didn't face the audience. But the 2nd time I saw it I actually felt very moved...she was more focused on the sound than on how she looked...and the interactions between her and Maddie (the dancer) were eerie and moving. It was like she was focused more on the music than on the performance, and I think that was a beautiful thing. (I know when I sang before an audience I got so paranoid about how I looked and interacted with the audience and how I could "perform" the song that the song itself got a bit lost)...
I think she didnt show her face on Ellen because she was trying to send a message. If you see her newest album, she doesn't show her face. Someone posted on her video Chandelier saying that it's about how she feels invisible and the lyric video also does not show her face indicating the invisibility.
I can't believe people are hating on this brilliant artist. Not only is she a great singer but she's beautiful and down to earth. We need more celebrities like Sia, with a real voice and not singing over a computer and getting assistance.

I think that the reason why she doesn´t show her face is for the concept of the album. The songs are very deep and autobiographic.

She is absolutely AMAZING! I love everything about her. From her eccentric personality to her beautiful deep and meaningful songs. She to me is the epitome of a true artist that cares about the ART of music and not the fame ♡♡

The more I learn about Sia the more I love her. It is so awesome that she is able to be completely comfortable in herself herself and not try to be anything else.
Clearly you were drunk or under the influence when making that comment. By HIDING her face from the world throughout the majority of her career she literally did the complete OPPOSITE of displaying an example of someone that is comfortable in themselves. I mean, even though it took her another 5 years from when this vid was uploaded, she even admitted this herself when she told the world she decided to hide her face as she believed she was ugly (I mean, she was right but we'll never know how much the reveal of her hideousness would have affected her as she showed her face when her career had far fallen from its peak).
Oh and to top it off, that awkward irritating noise she makes so often that may resemble a laugh to some... wow, I've never wanted to scramble my brain through an ear with a wire clothes hanger so much!

It's kinda funny to watch this now, almost 4 years later when she has now released what's going to be one of the biggest hits of 2014 (and an absolute Pop music masterpiece). Hell, she will be on Ellen tomorrow. Crazy.
Being a man I cannot understand why so many people (mainly guys) are so infatuated with defining beauty by what they see. As a person who is new to hearing her music and getting to know who she is, I deeply admire who she is. It takes a really strong person to overcome the obstacles she has faces and defeated. It is awesome seeing someone living a dream and daring to be unique even in the midst of criticism on multiple fronts. I hope she stays clean and continues on with her talent to be even more successful. Sia is truly a beautiful person!
I just learned of her existence because of the Grammy Awards (2015) and I think she's beautiful, incredibly talented, intelligent, and as original as it gets.

Some people feel that Sia is weird. But think about it. The images that pop stars and celebrities put out there is something that people work so hard to meet. They strive to meet those standards and yet they can't. They make it seem as if they are perfect people. Beautiful/handsome all the time and Sia is exactly the opposite. She is so real and down to earth. Like everyone else is. She is telling girls out there in the world that you don't have to be this beautiful, skinny girl to be famous. She doesn't set this standard for people to meet. She doesn't want to be famous for her image, her body, or her face. She wants her amazing voice to be the focus. That is what I admire about her.

She was just coming off drugs she said she hit rock bottom in 2010 so I wouldn't judge her appearance she was feeling bad I'm happy she is taking care of herself now.

I find her fascinating. Her voice & songwriting skills are extraordinary. For someone who supposedly suffers from anxiety performing in front of an audience, she seems very comfortable in her own skin...very upbeat & I LOVE her giggle!
The interviewer should have chilled with the "yeah yeah, yeah yeah" while she's responding. He's over-talking her with nonsense.

Who gives a fuck what she looks like that's not what shes here for besides, she radiates beauty more than anyone I know and most people can't see obviously with all the comments regarding her looks. WE are all humans. WE are all the same on the inside. She emanates beauty in the best sense of the word and not a lot of people seem to appreciate things or people like that anymore beyond what it or they may look like. Rant over.
