Halfway through the book and it's been a blast, you can see the commitment of the author on analyzing the life of Lafayette. Definitely a great recommendation!
I'm glad you liked it. I've read Laura Aurrichio and Sara Vowell's biographies of him. It would be fun to read Duncan's book too. Today I finished American Insurgents American Patriots by T H Breene. It's part intellectual history, part military or terrorism studies? It covers the rural Americans leading up to the Revolution, contrasting them to urban elites. It's fascinating.
This book I have been waiting for. I listened to biographies for many American founders and in every one Lafayette was the most interesting person. Which I didn't expect.

Great review. I will have to check it out. I really liked Sarah Vowell’s “Lafayette in the Somewhat United States.”
I don't know much about Lafayette but had heard of him! Thinking of picking up this book and looking more into who he was. :) Awesome review.
