Well done sir. I have been a professional Jeweler for 43 years, I would not have done this project any differently. The matt finish was a classy choice. Family heirloom restorations are my favorite projects. There is nothing more beautiful than bringing a memory back to life for someone, and seeing their tears of joy and gratitude as they retell the story around the object I just saved for them. There are some things money just can't buy.
Siiii que padres te quedaron!!! Hiciste magia con esos lentes!!!! Woooooow estoy sorprendida!!! Felicidades!!!! Y gracias por compartirnos tu vídeo que está muy interesante!!!! Saludos desde México.
I am so happy to see someone restore something other than old drills and fans! This was a totally fascinating video with wonderful results... the electroplating alone was worth an entire video! Thank you for posting, and a big thumbs up!
Lucky , that old of a sunglasses and not a single scratch on the lenses! Good informative work. A gram of gold is $50 American and all the other acids etc.. quite a costly experiment.
Brilliant. My boyfriend is a farmer. He has a pair of Ray Ban's that look just like that because of spraying fertilizer. I think I'll just buy him a new pair! New subscriber. Great job.
The matte gold plating looks way better than polished gold in the case of these glasses. Actually, I’m more a fan of matte finishes in general for metal. When I like something polished. It’s usually the details, and not the entire piece. Great work!!!
I wished I had found you weeks ago. I had a several of gold plated frames that I wore from 1970-75. I took them to several eyewear shops that said they couldn't "fix" it. ☹ So...I threw them away. Anyways, a wonderful & beautiful restoration, gold matted and all! I kinda *freaked* when the lenses met the pavement though 🤯 Oh, and I had to rewind to verify @ 3:01 if that was a screw that hustled about. It was an ANT doing a *cameo appearance!* 🐜 👋😂👍🏼
Very great stuff and high expertise.. Good work .. just out of curiosity, uh how will you trash these concentrated acid and cyanide chemicals once your use is done ?
I was of the same view, only that non of these chemicals are available over the counter. I taught Science for a number of years and if your wanted to dispose of redundant chemicals, you had to contact the local municipality who then collect and dispose of it
Indeed but cutting glasse’s lenses is a meticulous and tedious job Or perhaps asking for a opticians shop to do it I was thinking photochromic lenses (auto darkening)

20% restore
80% chemistry
I would like to see this on my chemestry classes kkkkkk
And 100% reason to remember the name ?
IHZA ZOLANDRA Don't you know, woman is like wine! Gets better every year! 🌝
That's how restoring works... A lot of chemistry... you restore using chemistry...
Nope...there is 20% physics and 80% chemistry and equals to 💯% restore..
Came here for a random sunglasses restoration, turns out the guy's a freakin' alchemist 🤯

I love chemistry and it’s nice to see how Chemicals are being used in real life instead of just theoretical knowledge
Hate to break it to you but if you really loved chemistry you would know that it's being used every day
Dafydd Phillips I think they’re talking more about the visual aspect of seeing it here
You are a brilliant Son..That's why you are caring your father's stuff so carefully 😊
Nicely done! I was hoping to see you wear it
Fallen in love with the Glasses.... 😍😍
Genius Genius Geniousss!!!!!
Wow that's some serious chemist techniques!!
A Vintage frame collectors dream!!
Great video
Creí que iba a ser menos complicada la restauración, pero fue toda una lección de química!!! Muy bueno!!!
Je pensais au débit que le travail s'arrête a la réparation ,mais voir des préparations chimiques complexes ,là c'est l'expertise .chapeau.
Why am I addicted to these restoration videos??

It felt like Jabir Bin Hayyan is doing the restoration.... Amazing, Great, Thumbs Up !!!
so cool, the most difficult step is the process of gold plating. another interesting clip from you. Thanks for sharing
Nice..RayBan Style..

I love the simple silence in restoration vids.
Amazing job on the glasses! Love vintage aviators!
Fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I honestly was a lil upset when he ripped the leather at the start
I was disappointed he didn't make another case for it. Navy dyed leather would have looked amazing as a case for these!
@FlyingMonkies325 the best he could do is make another one
FlyingMonkies325 : yes, but he could have made a pattern from it.
but at the same time that rip sound was really satisfying.
It is what it is
Awesome...... Pure gold plating

I wish I could do the same for my dad's old Ray Bans. They're in need of a good restoring.

really stylish retro glasses!
Great work! Can you restore my life? 😂
Aqua Regia indeed. 😎
my color blind ass watching you put the screws on your driveway: "well those are gone forever"
you cant differentiate the screws from the ground?
Never seen clear lenses sun glasses before!
OK, nice. But they don't seem very useful as sunglasses. Not very dark. Are they at least polarized?
They are meant for swag darling
theyre not, they would be much darker. i wouldnt call them sunglasses rather than very lightly tinted glasses, about 5-15% absorption
@@CarsonJacobucci To go with the gold chains and chest hair

These glasses a very classy looking.Look very expensive in a quiet way without being blingy.Lovely work.
Very great stuff and high expertise.. Good work .. just out of curiosity, uh how will you trash these concentrated acid and cyanide chemicals once your use is done ?
I assume he'll need to dispose them at a chemical waste location of some sort. That stuff, specially Aqua Regia, is very dangerous.
Sink.
I was of the same view, only that non of these chemicals are available over the counter. I taught Science for a number of years and if your wanted to dispose of redundant chemicals, you had to contact the local municipality who then collect and dispose of it
very good chemistry and skill...
Think maybe darker lenses would have been better for uv protection, otherwise amazing job.
Indeed but cutting glasse’s lenses is a meticulous and tedious job
Or perhaps asking for a opticians shop to do it
I was thinking photochromic lenses (auto darkening)
Those would be gr8 for me. I have sensitivity to light but don't like walking around in dark lens sunglasses
Sunglasses transparent? LOL. Great Job!
