Ono-ha Itto-ryu Demonstration - Aikido & Budo Summer Festival 2021

Ono-ha Itto-ryu demonstration during BudoFes 2021 held at the Tokyo Budokan on August 15th, 2021. Demonstrators are Hideyuki KAIWA (shidachi) and Nadao KOHNO (uchitachi).
Organized by Tokyo (Riverside) Aikido Association (officially registered with the Aikikai Foundation), BudoFes2021 is a Budo cultural event consisting of four aikido classes taught by teachers of the Greater Tokyo Area, and demonstrations of classical budo.

Yamato Budogu has them, but they don’t come cheap. Other than that I’ve seen them in a few shops around Tokyo.

@@BlueyFromMelbShuffle I was thinking, "Hey, what's a little splurge for the dojo, be great for some jo/bokken work." But at $2800 I would be afraid to use them!

What is the technical reason for the "bunny hopping" at 8:27?

Ive seen it in other schools too, but i think it’s to close distance without changing stance. Kind of like inching method used in wado-ryu karate or like slide stepping for a front kick.
